A few weeks ago, I bought a new Honda Passport Trailsport. I'm an avid fisherman who works in the industry and carries a ton of gear. I've already put 1,400 miles on the car. I like the car, but I have some concerns.1. Let me start with the biggest, coming home from work on Monday, my steering wheel is making this spring/creaking/clicking sound when turning it. It just happened out of the blue.2. When backing out of my garage, the car jerks repeatedly. This only happens backing out of my garage when the engine is cold. Not sure what this could be. ABS, transmission?3. On my latest fishing trip, I was climbing up some hills. These are far not even close to being mountains, but they're decent hills. I'm going 57 mph at 2500 rpm. Then, it jumps to 3000 rpm, which I try to avoid. I back off to 55 mph and <2000 rpm. I accelerate to 57 mph, and the rpm is at 2000. Is this normal?I'm just a bit concerned about this, so I took it to the dealer. They found no codes, no transmission problems, but they did notice the steering wheel noise and diagnosed it as the clock spring. They lubed it up. I drove off the lot (after closing time), and it was making the same noise. I'm going to bring it back tomorrow, but I'd like to get some input on the noise. Did I buy a lemon?
Honda, not even once.
>>29061804Bruh.They have a reputation for being a good car brand. Many car reviewers, especially the good ones, like them. I was considering a 4Runner, but decided this was the better choice for me. My family has owned Hondas for 20 years and has had good experience.
It's a 10 speed transmission. Expect a lot of shifting. It's getting up to 3,000 to keep itself from bogging down the engine. You'd be able to pull with less shifting if it had a turbo. Be concerned if the shifts become harsh or delayed.
>>29061819Pull, as in a trailer? I haven't done any towing yet. But thanks for your reply.I figured it probably wasn't a big deal, but was a bit concerned given that every instance occurred mid hill climb without me doing anything. Maybe, this kind of thing takes a few moments to kick in.My main concern at this point is the creaking steering wheel, which they claimed to have fixed.
>>29061799Wow a Honda with tranny issues. Whodafunkit. Also why would you buy something that small when you have lots of stuff to haul?>>29061823You got a gutless 250hp engine moving a 5000lb crossover. She's going to want to rev even with a 10 speed.
>>29061799>Then, it jumps to 3000 rpm, which I try to avoid. You want it to jump to 3k.The single worst thing you can do to a gas engine is drive it loaded up a hill at low rpm trying to get it to accelerate. It's very obvious if you've driven a manual. Think of it like an airplane trying to climb too quickly and the engine starts sputtering out.It is worse to try to accelerate at low rpm than it is to bounce off of the redline.Let it shift.Idk what to tell you about the clockspring. That would concern me. Go back to the dealeraship asap, it's a brand-new fucking car.
>>29061814>F&F convincing normies that Civics and Accords were as fast as supercars and ruining them for all time>Odysseys and Pilots have had the same V6 since the 2000s>never figured out how to make an automatic transmission work with the V6 for 20+ years, switched to a 10-speed that doesn't know what gear it's in because they know the CVT would grenade>lineup is CVT-only pozzed hybrids
>>29061844>>29061849Sorry to mislead you guys. I'm not towing a bass boat. I meant "haul" as in pack my car full of fishing rods, tools, lures, and clothes. The most I'm going to be towing anytime soon is a kayak trailer.>Idk what to tell you about the clockspring. That would concern me. Go back to the dealeraship asap, it's a brand-new fucking car.Thank you for confirming for me that I'm not being a Karen about this.
>>29061890Oh you're going to have a real good time dealing with Honda's warranty department. Good luck.
Should have bought a Maverick hybrid instead
>>29061850"CVT" pozzed hybrids are the only good thing Honda sells right now. It's a crime to call it a CVT it's a direct drive with electric motors or the engine.
>>29061799Should've bought a GMT800
>his car shifts itself >it does it wrong Many such cases
Lmao dumb fucking gaijin actually bought this pile
