turned the kia around again
>>
King Kia.
>>
>>29065295
it probably could have made it, but I think it might be easier to approach from the south
there's only one legal public road passing through this area (for miles around)
and i think the south approach might be better cuz ur more in the valley until you hit the strip mine
at some point the road SHOULD get better cuz there's a strip mine next to the mountain I'm trying to get to and big truggs have to access it somehow

I think atvs might have messed up the road too, but really the problem is just too-chunky gravel I dunno why they do that almost feels like it's for ATVs to try to keep non-atvs out since I assume they are fine with said coarse gravel
I don't remember it being like that last time I was here, I thought I came from the same way, but maybe not, it didn't look familiar at all
this is a real road, not an atv trail, but it seems to be used mostly just as an atv trail once you get past people's houses
and its ALL owned by weyerhauser lumber
>>
my camaro has handled worse roads than that. Here's an unpaved section of mulholland dr. LA that was no problem
>>
>>29065311
you probably have double wishies
im stuck on mc donalds
also i dont ever take pictures of the worst stretches, like im not gonna park my car in the middle of a dangerous steep curve to get a photo
um no it was worse than that
really rough surface and chunky gravel you have never ever taken your camaro on steep winding chunky gravel roads
anyways most people there were on atvs so that's clearly the idea

the biggest issue is the steering is slop and if you go over a bump you lose the connection to the wheel totally and it just jerks and you can't control it which doesn't work for narrow steep roads, its ok on paved, itll do steep paved windy stuff all day but does not like mud or coarse gravel, probably would help to have rugged or mud tires but those are noisier on highways

I drove a 540 at one point for a bit and that steering was much more connected despite being recirculating ball
I hate electronic power steering with a passion
almost makes me want to get a used alfa suv just cuz their steering is supposed to be best in the biz according to car magz

>also i dont ever take pictures of the worst stretches, like im not gonna park my car in the middle of a dangerous steep curve to get a photo
So park the car where its safe and walk over? Because the photo you posted is barely worse than a gravel driveway
>>
>>29065400
No, BMWs suck overall as well. But you constantly post about a piece of shit boring car doing unimpressive things. You're a shill as far as I'm concerned.
>>
>>29065400
>I ain't no shill!
That sounds like something a shill would say
Particularly an advertising AI shill who only has access to pictures of well maintained roads.
>>
>>29065503
it was pretty good off road but the interior was cheap and rough (granted it was a base car without nicer seats or upgraded leather)
and the ride was ruff

>>29065508
I would love to see you drive these unmaintained roads. I would be laffin'
>>
Stop giving this fucking retard engagement.
>>

ok

Nah i will. He's wholesome
>>
>>29065291
There is a Kia purchase in my near future, by necessity, and you're scaring me with your positivity, anon.
>>
>>29065641
I mean I'm pretty clear that it's not perfect. I would say test the steering esp on a tight/curved road (though you will really only notice the slop over big bumps or dirt roads) and the engine (rough and slow)
if you are ok with those, the other stuff is nice
which model are you looking to get?
I will say the brakes are great, not lacking at all
they do get a little fade if you do twisties for hours and hours sometimes but I haven't noticed this in a couple months.

>>29065620
The retards are the ones getting mad about a guy having fun on the weekend in a car they don't like

Nta, newb here, I wasn't impressed with the 2016 awd Genesis because nvh and the window view was paltry. I'm used to a 2011 Camry. For the next beater, I'm looking at 2010 and under Elantra or Forte, based off the sticky, and real open to getting standard though I've never driven stick before.
>>
>>29066030
k5 sedan 2021+ is newer/nicer than elantra/forte if you can swing it

um what

Carnival. I do not care about how it drives, I just don't want impromptu dealer visits.
>>
>>29066557
recommend the v6, also I love the red paint on that, I actually see a fair number in that color
its just a big kia sportage (srsly same platform)
I also recommend the 360 camera option, esp on a big minivan

No v6 option here unfortunately; only the 1.6t hybrid.
Ordinarily I'd choose a brand I'm more familiar with, but minivan options here are limited to Korean and Chinese models and I'm practically clueless desu.
I'll keep the rest in mind though, thanks.
>>
>>29066600
I think of korean cars as the nicest of chinese cars.
I want to go to korea and troll them by telling them they are chinese (and really are they so different genetically?)
>>
>>29066610

Korean cars today are like what japanese cars were like in the late 80's/early 90's. People hating on them but they command a large portion of the market while somehow keeping quiet. I hate their styling myself but i cant deny that they keep things simpler and are just cheaper and dont blow up for no reason.

Also Korean heads are square. Chinks are round
>>
>>29066619
I'm in west virginny and there's plenty of kia forte sedans running here that will run until they die and get abandoned rusting out next to someone's trailer estate
> I hate their styling myself
I spend more time inside driving it than outside it gawking, I do not care at all, not even a little, about styling, im not rich, I cannot afford to be precious and petty like that

its obvious they are trying too hard to try to distinguish themselves from toyota and honda
my actual issue is the rear window is a bit hard to see out of and very annoying to wash and clean because of the shape, I wish it were a flat back and if it were blockier you could fit more in it
- I mean they did it to the santa fe

>blow up for no reason
kias are owned by poor people
poor people don't maintain their cars
you think everyone who owns a kia does regular maintenance at the recommended schedule?
>>
>>29066619
Korean cars are still in the early 80's of JDM cars where they are an amazing deal but still have mechanical issues. They are impossible to ignore their market position, but easy to discount as shit for poor people.
>>
>>29066642
the only mechanical issues are that the engine is rough and has little low end torque and the steering is slop
the suspension could definitely have cushier bump stops and more travel too
but its not like some breaking machine
I drive it on long road trips every month and its been fine, the only issues were unresolved things from the prior owner (used), and oil changes and normal things like that
>>
>>29065311
dirt mulholland is only bad when it’s raining and after the rain

Cringe beyond belief.
This has gotta be larping / performative theatre.
A 1980's Chevette could handle this.

I have a mountain bike and I wouldn't Chunky gravel is the enemy of both cars and mountain bikes.
There were no bikes on the road, mostly ATVs. Whenever you are on a road and there's mostly jeeps or atvs you know it's a shitty road. They could just regrade it. God forbid! But Weyerhauser (who I believe leases the land from the forest service), would never allow it.

Why would you have a sign directing you to a mountain that is on private land and illegal to access?
I mean, it's on the edge of the national forest, but I think all this land is leased to mining and timber companies and none is public land except for an easement for a ridgeline mtn biking trail (fork mtn).

>>

>>29068997
Yes, anyone who says otherwise is trying to sell you Kia or justify their own bad decision
>>
>>29071223
How many have you driven?
>>
>>29065291
I don't get it, i used my drift my celica on roads like this, is your kia okay?
>>
>>29071280
there was extremely coarse gravel that was progressively getting worse, also I think it's just less of a long approach on shitty roads if you try to access it from the other direction so I will try that next time, and I got the name of someone who has a legal hunting lease in the area who could give me a ride on an ATV - the condition of the roads deteriorated a lot as I got closer into more like a wide ATV trail, I've been on these before, I know what it's like, officially it's a road but it's clear this has not been maintained in a long time.

I think pictures can't really capture rough roads and its hard to get out at the worst bits cuz thats not safe
>>
>>29065291
I don’t see it
>>
>>29071539
next time i will have to walk a bit to get a better picture, but just beyond the foreground was very rough chunky gravel
I suppose my phone camera blows and can't get that kind of detail.
