I always preferred these, I have one that I got from my unc that dates to somewhere in the 70s I think, genuine leather, ain't no filter that doesn't come undone with that thing.I bought a similar modern one with a "leather" strap and the rivets holding the strap ripped straight through the strap.

>>29068207I like the strap wrenches on a square tube that is 3/8 or 1/2" drive. You can snake them into much tighter places with extensions and swivels than a normal lever handle strap wrench. I've never had a place where they wouldn't fit/work. My 2nd favorite would be the channel-lock style filter pliers.

Most of the others were owners thinking they needed the wrench to install the filter, and getting it jammed on as they "tightened the filter so it would not leak".
