I always preferred these, I have one that I got from my unc that dates to somewhere in the 70s I think, genuine leather, ain't no filter that doesn't come undone with that thing.
I bought a similar modern one with a "leather" strap and the rivets holding the strap ripped straight through the strap.

those manual cupcake spinners always make me dizzy

These are the worst offenders imo, my old man likes them, but they never seem to grip worth shit, always slipping
>>
>>29068207
I have two, one for opening pickle jars and shit as well.

I'm right handed but the filter on my car can be removed easily with a left arm to reach where the damn thing is, did it again only yday. Pic related.

I like the strap wrenches on a square tube that is 3/8 or 1/2" drive. You can snake them into much tighter places with extensions and swivels than a normal lever handle strap wrench. I've never had a place where they wouldn't fit/work.

My 2nd favorite would be the channel-lock style filter pliers.

Put a rubber band around it, get's it started.

Cause that's a shit one. You gotta get one of the nicer ones with the round gripping lugs and aggressive checkering. I have pic related and it's great. I work on boats and do 150+ oil changes a season and it's extremely rare that it lets me down.

I just picked the first pic off google I found, he's got 2 Bahco ones one like pic related and one with knurled grippers. Still don't like them and prefer my leather strap wrench.

Seconded

Nothing personal

Lmao @ u for being weak

I've had at least a dozen vehicles come in with those cup style wrenches stuck on the filter.
Only one (admitted) was from the guy giving up the "At Home Oil Change" and bring it to the shop.
Most of the others were owners thinking they needed the wrench to install the filter, and getting it jammed on as they "tightened the filter so it would not leak".

Claw on the flex head ratchet works for me almost everywhere. Channies are #2. The long old school pliers rarely fit where I need them in autimotive engine bays, and strap wrenches are even worse when access is tight

Didn't give it enough ugga duggas. That cup will come off one way or another.

Say that to my face and not online, see what happens. I'm strapped

OP means for tightening the filter.

The large filter pliers are good for shit like hydraulic filters or gang fuel filters, where the strap wrench just slides.

>>29071231
>That cup will come off one way or another.

Yes, when I put a 3/8 inch ratchet on it, remove the filter, knock the cup off with a hammer and hand it back to the dipshit owner.

>>29071900
I deal with that a lot.
Spud wrench, I choose you.
>>
>>29068212
Best way is this style + clamping it to the filter with a big hose clamp
>>
>>29068203
I tighten oil filters this way too
>>
>>29068212
That looks like a cupcake would fly right out.
