For what reason?
>for what reasonAmerica. They think that everywhere in the world has a clutch switch as well.
>>29068754This has been a thing for like 70 fucking years, anon.
>>29068774See what i am saying?
>>29068754Because car go when you shift into Initial ***D***. Brake make u stay still to initiate the INITIAL ===D===Also, (_))===D~~ <(^.^)> <— Ur Face. lol. third worlders
>>29068768I'm American and I've never seen this shit before
>>29068785Because you havent driven a manual. Its been law by you since the early 90's.Me on the other hand have rolled a broken down 2018 Frontier out of the road on the starter.
>>29068768>>29068774>>29068789This is an automatic. Can't shift into D from Neutral while rolling. Have to press brake pedal
>brake to shiftSounds wasteful
>>29068754slowly training amerimutts how to shift properly again
>>29068774First one was Audi in 1986.U.S. didnt mandate it until 2010
>>29068792I had a 1995 and shifted from D to R on the freeway doing 60mph without touching the brakes.Locked the rear tires for a split second until I went back into neutral and scared the shit out of my passengers but didn't even stall.
So your 3 yo kid doesn't reach up and move it to L when you briefly step out of the car, then go over a planter and into the main road where truck-kun roams.
>>29068754Anyone know when/why they started doing brake safety shit for automatics?I know 90s cars had it already.
>>29068792that's only at a stop. if you're actually moving, you can absolutely shift to and from drive/neutral in an auto
>>29068811>>29068846iirc Audi had some rollaway when they didn't have it setup that way, so they changed it first and everyone else followed suit
>>29068818well maybe the kid shouldn't be such a fucking retard?
>>29068754Because you bought an autotragic. Most push button starts also require you step on the brake.
Prevents retards fucks up transmission and parking pawl.
>>29068924N --> Dfucking up the parking prawl.okay
>>29068818I unironically did this as a toddler. Went through two fences before my mother caught up to me.
>>29068882Yep.
>>29068789Nigga I've only driven manuals
I told a friend that you can bump-start an automatic and he about had a seizure trying to understand how.Our shop was on top of a hill. So when we left work I got upto about 20mph, shifted to neutral, shut off the ignition, turned the key back to "on" and threw it in drive.Truck fired up and I swear a little piece of brain matter exploded out of his ear.
>>29068789>Its been law by you since the early 90's.2010 actually. Most manufactirers adopted it much earlier but brake interlock is a relatively new thing if you pick tandom.shitbixes posted here
>>29068754It's to ensure that you don't mistake your gas for your brake when you put it into gear.
