I've got a MK4 Golf with 86k on the clock and a failed turbo, it's giving off blue/grey smoke the moment it starts up. I've been quoted at 1100 for the work to be done to get it running again. The other issues are that the exterior (rusted wheel arches) and interior are shabby and the wing mirror also needs replacing some cunt booted it off. In your opinion is it worth throwing this much at a 23 year old car or should I just scrap it at this point? It's a great car to drive, but I'm worried that it's going to be a money sink if the camshaft fails or injectors need replacing shortly after the turbo. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
>>29069484the car is brand new. get a junkyard/facebook turbo. don't bother with the arches, just put some rust treatment on it.86k is incredibly low. I have friends driving 400,000 mile 1.9tdis
>>29069560the blue smoke could be valve stem seals too. try some seal swelling oil additive.
the side mirror would be about the price of a six-pack from a junkyard
