40k and I'd like to buy a new-to-me "race" car. Current considerations are an evo 9 and an f80 m3. Am I retarded? What's objectively the best performance to dollar ratio at this price range; I frankly hate the Camaro and rwd/awd manual is a must (no wrong wheel drive junk, thanks). I currently run touge/some dirt roads in an e36 m3, got raped by an f82 and SS so looking to upgrade.
>>29069927Idk maybe a C6 corvette
B8 S4 with pulley and tune will run low 11s and cost half your budget
>>29069936Interesting rec and hadn't considered it. My impression of Audi has always been understeer and muted handling; is this an issue on the B8? What's the reliability like? I don't really care for straight line stuff DESU just touge. >>29069931I like the car but I live in nor cal and every idiot Mexican owns of these. I'll consider it, but I feel like it would get run by an evo in the mountains and loses to the m3 in terms of interior quality
>>29069951pre-facelift B8s had hydraulic steering and will feel better than anything electric. they do understeer like any other AWD car and most RWD cars but that can be mitigated decently with a beefy rear sway bar.
>>29069927Are you fucking retarded? Just turbocharge your E36, pretty much the only reason the F82/SS raped you (or you’re a bad driver kek)
>>29069927>raped by an f82 and SSThen get an f82 or SS?
>>29069927>Best Performance to Dollar >TougeEvo 8/9 would be good if you didn't live in California. Too much bullshit behind owning one there. CARB/Smog Compliance and stuff like headlights costing $1000 each and the parts getting rare. Consider a Evo X instead. Newer, cheaper, as fast, more common parts. Still the great suspension/steering Evos are known for. Honestly Evos are only capable Turbo 4WD for track use that aren't a R35 GTR or a STi with 2 motors on standby. VWs/Audis all handle like shit (either undertired or too fat). Evo magic has to do with good steering, strong transfer case/diffs (won't overheat/limp mode out like a Focus RS/GR Corolla), and ability to fit Corvette-sized tire fitment in a AWD car (important, only Subarus are capable of this, Audis in particular are limited by the size of their wheelwells). Another option is a ND MX5. Imagine your E36 M3 if it had a 30 year newer chassis. Supercharge or Turbo It. Or just drop a S54 and MK60 out of a crashed E46M in your E36. Just look at what people run in Gridlife for ideas.
>>290699278V RS3T. I own a 2018 Audi RS3.
>>29069995Whoops just saw manual was a must. Of you can suck it up and love with a dual clutch, it eats bmws for breakfast. And with a tune you can gain 75+hp.
>>29069927evo 9 is not a regular car, if you plan to drive it daily you will struggle
>>29069927Mazda is bringing back the FD pretty soon I'd hold out
>>29069995>RS3*throws up on your head*
>>29070137Are you a troll or a child?
>>29071222Fuck you I got cash in hand for a new FD or the new mr2 turbo. Fag!
>>29069973My S52 is burning an insane amount of oil I don't want to rebuild it>>29069991Thanks for the thoughtful post. The main reason I'm hesitant about the X is the purist hatred toward it. The 4b11 seems fine to me, but I haven't driven/lived with the 4g63 so I can't really compare the two. I live in a non-smog county so fortunately modding a IX won't be an issue. Interesting point about the GR Corolla tcase overheating, I hadn't heard of that. Honestly the GR was another consideration, but I don't really like the look and I'm worried they lack the analogue feeling that I love. >>29070014Don't need to use it as daily, only planning on track use. >>29070137Based on what JFL
>>29072710A HIGHly MODIFIED E90/E92 N54 335i will be faster than any car mentioned so farhttps://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/video-is-bimmerworlds-e90-bm/181337/page1/
>>29072727Not really all that euro shit is worthless. Besides nobody wants to be seen in some riced out rental car designed to appeal to jeets and darkoids, ricer
>>29072727Then I'd have to deal with N54 problems. Also somewhat agree with above; the E90 is pretty ugly. inb4 n55, another shit motor I'm afraid
