I know this is 4chan so its cool to be contrarian and act like toyota sucks since the rest of the internet loves them but im looking for real opinions. Do you think 3rd gen tacomas will have the same reliability that the 1st gen tacoma built its reputation off of? Do you think you will see '21 tacomas still on the road in the 2040s, the way you still see '04 tacos being driven today?
>>
depends if the VIN starts with a J or not

Pretty sure all 3rd gen tacomas were manufactured in mexico

looks like 1st gens were built in california, so also mexicans. I'd guess they'll be good rather than bad. 3rd gen never had a bad rep from what I saw, and I'm sure there are plenty out there with 200k on the clock already. Forum nerds will have good info, they love telling each other what parts should be upgraded and posting pictures when things go wrong.

I always wanted to love the first gen Tacoma but trucks aren't supposed to do this.

it's all about the rust belt, just avoid examples from snow areas.

My coworker has a Dodge Ram from the Clinton administration with rust holes in the front fenders big enough to fit your fist through but the frame is still solid.
The most important quality in a pickup truck is its structural integrity. Toyotas are great and all but domestic automakers just make better trucks.

We'll be pushing shopping carts with all our belongings in them in the 2040s, trying to evade cannibals.

Found one the other day for 7500
I passed
Id rather put 20k into my truck

Op, who cares
Just buy the truck you want and drive it
If it breaks, fix it
Your other options are what? Ford? Chevy?

I've owned every Gen
Each new gen is better than the last
1154k in 1st when I was tboned
3 something on my 2nd
80k on my 3rd

Pre 19s were made in Texas
Coincidentally, you actually want the made in Mexico ones probably

It doesn't matter, it's an engineering issue first, and no fabricator is able to deal with the insane tolerances demanded by the engineering standards derived through analytical software, instead of through conventional practices were safety margins and parts were over-built for good measure.

Provided it’s got a 2GR it’s got a solid chance
