>24v automatic 2wd
That’s like the worst possible configuration of a 2nd gen
The miles are low though, I’d pay like 2k and manual swap it and p pump or VE swap it, the vp44 will do nothing but bring hell and stress into your life

I haven't seen one of these in this nice of condition in at least 20 years. I'm guessing it's not 4x4, but it's got the meme motor that people pay $15-20k for clapped 275k mile examples with disintegrated dashboards.
If you're still posting here instead of already going to pick it up then someone else is going to snag it first. Don't make your offer until you're there in person and can wave the money around, either (with extra in your car in case he refuses/counteroffers)

I daily drive a 2wd 12v, where I live there’s lots of sand and it gets stuck a lot
Also, the issue isn’t that it’s 2wd as much as its automatic and it’s got a vp44 that’s already giving you shit before you even bought it, the vp44 is literally going to make you hate this truck, just giving you a fair warning
>>

buy it now OP.
i recently test drove a 1999 f150 v6, 2x4, 8ft bed, zero options. dealer wanted $7,900. insane.
i offered $5,500, they told me to leave.
>>
>>29070261
I wouldn't own it because its an auto and not 4x4, but if you're doing truck stuff on pavement all the time then go for it man. $6500 doesn't seem too bad for the condition it is in and in this shitty economy.
>>
>>29070378
you dont want a manual truck. manuals cant tow shit.
>>29070375
this was a manual btw, its tow rating was 60% of an auto. but the fucker had manual tax all over it.
>>
>>29070261
A few things here are weird to me. All of those RAM and model decals are not original. The paint is also not original. Does it actually run well? Have you done some basic testing on the blow by (oil cap upside down on top of it) to ensure the motor is actually strong? I think I would offer 4k on this truck. In 2026 these 5.9s are absolute dogs and when things break, they really break.
>>
>>29070385
Its original decals.
They had different sticker packs because some were more popular in one market vs another.
Sorry, best pic i could find in 5 seconds but clearly the same.

idiot.
>>
>>29070384
>you dont want a manual truck. manuals cant tow shit.
Sure they can't bud... Every truck I have is a manual and they all tow just fine. Autos just self-destruct well before they ever should. Have you ever considered that maybe it's just you that can't drive a manual?
>>
>>29070261
If anyone takes photo of a car for sale after washing, that's kind of a red flag.
The water makes it seem like the clear coat is still intact when indeed it is not.

you are clearly oblivious how a manual transmission works.
let me clue you in. in a manual only 2 gears mesh and deliver power
in a slushbox the witchcraft utilizes 6-9 meshing gears to deliver power.
>>29070411
>zf6
while that is a hd transmission i bet its still outperformed by an auto in the same truck.

I love me manuals, but the trooth is that they cannot hold the same power as an auto.
>>
>>29070424
I disagree with that anon.
All the earlier manual transmissions had much higher torque capacities than the automatics.
That changed once the six-speed autos started coming out they were no longer developing manual transmissions.

47RE is straight trash, my Cummins with a 47RE one owner never even used it to tow, 154k miles and the 47RE shit itself, they’re absolute garbage and the truck wasn’t turned up at all, bone stock
My nv4500hd finally blew up at like 350k miles of heavy towing of equipment and forklifts etc, and that transmission is known to be a piece of shit with issues like 5th gear shitting itself because it’s unsupported
>>
>>29070441
how do you disagree with that chart?
>>
>>29070451
The GCWR of the 1994 dodge Cummins dually with an automatic was 14k lbs and with the getrag g360 it was upped to 17k lbs
The manual out tows the automatic, maybe ford just uses trash transmissions?
>>
>>29070454
small towing differences can be accounted by the trucks own weight and equipment. manuals tend to be less loaded and the transmissions themselves weigh a lot less. also different final drives.

I bet the manual in a diesels uses is overbuilt to a point that it can rival an auto, i will concede to that.
semis are manual, but straight cut.
>>
>>29070460
The getrag g360 is a solid cast iron transmission, it’s heavier than the automatic, as is the nv5600
>>
>>29070461
I highly doubt that. no way an auto is lighter. it has like 20x the gears and clutches in it, and holds more fluid.
google says 360 ~200lb and 5600 ~360lb
>>
>>29070463
47RE is 240lbs, nv5600 is 400lbs, I’d know because I fucking pick them up and install them all fucking day
>>29070273
This is a 5600 and a 47RE I just manual swapped a sport truck dually
>>
>>29070468
well the 47re is aluminium trash
>>
>>29070424
>you are clearly oblivious how a manual transmission works.
>let me clue you in. in a manual only 2 gears mesh and deliver power
>in a slushbox the witchcraft utilizes 6-9 meshing gears to deliver power.
Lol. LMAO even. I understand fully how both manual and automatic transmissions work. I've rebuilt plenty of both types.

Yes autos use planetary gearsets and have more teeth in contact at any given time, yet they still shit themselves at a 3x or 4x rate of a manual transmission. They are good in theory and terrible in real life application.

So I guess all those class 8 trucks with manual transmissions that have been running around since forever are no good now because you said so?
>>
>>29070474
ZF6 blows the fuck out of a 5600 and it’s aluminum, I drive both, the strength is in the design and engineering of the housing, adding more mass doesn’t immediately mean it’s stronger
>>
>>29070261
That is a great deal, its worth it just for the engine. That truck will be sold by the end of the day.
>
>29070375
Dealer was smoking crack.

>>29070454
The manual used the truck he listed is a trash transmission. We had a 4.2 v6 that blew a head gasket at 298k miles. I looked into putting the trans in an older f150 because the windsors have the same interface as the 4.2 v6. However from what I was reading those manual transmissions are shitty enough to where a Windsor v8 would eventually kill it. Other manual transmissions may have better towing capacity when compared to the autos, but that one isn't one of them.
>>
did you get the truck? I'm guessing it was sold before you called the guy
>>
>>29070475
im talking about consumer manuals vs auto on non HD trucks.
autos shit the bed because owners never change their fluids.
>>
>>29070522
So are a zf5, zf6, nv4500, nv5600, np435, t-18, t-19, etc considered heavy duty or light duty to you?

Oh you're only talking about the m5od? How cute. It'll still outlast any auto behind those engines.

Autos fail because they suck ass.
>>
>>29070530
im simply saying that outside beefed up manuals in HD trucks and Semis, manuals have a lower payload rating.
thats it.
nothing about reliability.
>>
>>29070546

No that things got a serious issue i tried to offer $4000 but he is firm at $6500, tested the truck and it starts bucking under load at 50 mph. And there is a clattering sound at idle.
Other than that its a mint foundation for $2000 at best. Wish i could figure out to post a webm

Chalk eater over here doesn't know that mid 2000's is when autos were finally becoming better than manuals.
Also don't you know semi-trucks are all manual and they are made for hauling.
Honestly anything prior to 2010 I'd go for a manual.
>>
>>29070451
I don't care what some fake chart says anon.
That chart was actually true and no one would ever bought the manual.

if the frame is good and it doesnt have blow by get it. assuming this is a build and not a daily the transmission wont matter cause this things cheap af. the reason why its so cheap is because it has no 4x4 slam it to the floor and do a street build.

Strictly consumer non hd pickup trucks.
