About to put some M3 style mirrors and a lip spoiler on my facelift E46 318Ci weekend car.

Doing brakes for the first time ever. Front caliper is sticking on my 05 Ford Focus. I will be replacing the sticking caliper, both front hoses, pads, rotors, and doing a full fluid flush. I bought two 1qt cans of brake fluid. Should I be okay to wait until the end to do a full flush/bleed of all four wheels? I do plan to open the bleeder when pushing back the caliper pistons so the old fluid doesn't get pushed back into the ABS module. I'm just mildly concerned about running out of fluid overbleeding.

you shouldn't need to push the brake pads in to swap calipers unless you have a real bad lip, and even then just unhook the line so it squirts out on the ground. Get that fluid completely changed asap though, the water in it that corroded the original caliper will corrode your new one too.

I am not sure yet whether the issue lies with the brake hose, caliper piston, or slides. It does have a somewhat atypical caliper setup from the typical slide pin/boot setup (see https://youtu.be/SMsANb8XW68?t=22 yes I am aware the person in this video violates several best practices, no it is not my only reference).
I have delayed fixing this for ~250-300 miles as it's my daily driver and only car so I am concerned that the heat stress has damaged and/or degraded the caliper (seals etc). I have tried to baby it as much as possible by not driving far, staying on back roads, driving as slowly as I can given traffic, etc. but it has definitely gotten hot.

I'm really not sure what you're trying to say. The replacement caliper also includes new hardware (just a wire spring/clip in this application) and slide pins.

My F150 failed inspection due to one of the truck bed mounting points having rusted through. I had to pull the bed to be able to properly fix it, and oh boy what a Pandora's box that turned out to be. The frame is absolutely thoroughly coated in heavy flaking rust and even has rusted through in some places. I've spent quite a while already removing rust with a needle scaler and sanding discs but still have a long way to go before I can weld new metal to the frame and cover the frame with anti-rust paint.

My fucking horn goes off every time I hit a bump , just started 2 days ago and it sometimes gets stuck so I have to punch the airbag cover (horn button) and it eventually stops.
Gonna read the shop manual and google it up tonight. I haven’t taken an airbag off in 15+ years.

110k miles on these, not gonna say the S62 "change your rod bearings" thing is overblown but I feel like they would have been good for another 100k, there's one with a weird wear spot but the rest are pretty damn respectable.

I cant get this fucking steering shaft into the splined clamp at all. Fighting it for 2 days now, it slipped out easily and I replaced the mounts on the steering rack. Now getting it back in is a pain in the fucking ass. I even put lithuim grease on the splines to slide it in and no dice.

I did some pulls and I can't see the point in going past like 6500 with that car, to each their own I guess. Gratuitous U-Guide that was actually not clapped out, some wear but nothing broken. Not to say it wouldn't have broke the next month, there's no telling.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Evacuated the system and then held a vacuum. Everything looked good. With the car off, i fed the first can into the low side. Then I turned the car/AC on to ensure everything was sucked out of the can. When I removed the can a bunch of refrigerant shot out, so I know that I didn't successfully transfer all of it into the AC system. Then I fed the second can through the low side, and same thing, lots of refrigerant upon disconnecting. System currently blows warm of course.

I went 5 years with an AC that only blows hot air because I figured I needed a new AC Compressor. Finally decided to go take it to get fixed. Turned out to be a wiring issue and now it blows ice cold. Fuck, I can't believe I put up with it for so long. Whenever I drove anywhere I would arrived with my back drenched in sweat.

I think my rear differential is fried.
I found the leak, it was the seal on the driver side axle. The seal was completely mangled and the bearing behind it doesn’t look much better. Im debating on whether I should try to rebuild it or roll the dice and swap the whole diff out with a cheap used one.

Still tested the alternator this morning, 13.7-13.8V so it’s good. Also, I cleaned the terminals. It started twice on the first try. In the end I think it only does it when hot (I forgot to mention that in my first message, cold, it started every time, and then hot, sometimes yes, sometimes no)

Pneumatic needle scalers are pretty good for getting rid of larger chunks of rust, then use a wire wheel on an angle grinder to get what's left back to bare metal.

I’ve really let it go. Felt bad about it. Mainly use my work vehicle for errands and I barely go out. Haven’t done any service whatsoever in years, last thing I did was pull passenger side front body out because I hit a truck (at low speed) and replace the hood , bumper, and right fender.

Been working on it nonstop this past month:
Spark plugs
Ball joint & wheel hub assembly
Rotors and brake pads
Cleaned the fuck out of carpet and seats myself as sunroof and doors had a little leak (was the worst task desu)
Oil and coolant change (coolant was a pain in the ass as it wasn’t draining entirely, nor was new coolant flowing in, had to keep pressing on upper and lower radiator hoses)
Fixed weatherstrip with small tubing (new weatherstrips are $300 lol)
Cut plywood to fit in my trunk, had all my stuff pilling up in the spare tire wheel well
Outer tie rod
Replaced some fuses
Took door panels off, cleaned up interior of door which was full of leaves and debris, causing water to not drain properly. Also put up the vapor barrier with new sealant
Motor mounts
Got new tires (kumho)
Struts and shocks
Replaced battery cable end
New head unit

All I’m missing now is idle tensioner, ac compressor clutch, reline the headliner, and paint the car. Oh and alignment

Finally finishing the last little bits and pieces of my top-end rebuild, with any luck she'll be back on the road tomorrow. Just have to finish bleeding the coolant, oil change, and put the dashboard back together and we're golden! Assuming I haven't fucked up anywhere, anyway... Must admit, the first few hundred miles after taking an engine apart are always fucking terrifying to me.

I've got quite a few issues on it, but the most concerning one is that if I'm in stop and go traffic, and I go to accelerate, my car starts revving like it's in neutral before it lurches forward and drives like normal. Scariest was when I was on an incline, and when I hit the gas it just revved and started sliding backward like it was in neutral. I braked, let the rpms rise, and then all was good. What should I do?

I did my back brakes, and realized yet again that I hate drums. Somehow I lost a spring for the parking brake and spent an hour looking for it before I found it. But now I have new rotors, calipers, slides, pads, shoes and parking brake hardware.

Thanks~ I'm pretty happy with the intake and valve covers, but I made plenty of cockups along the way. The lacquer has hidden it all pretty well, but there were multiple small areas I had to respray thanks to me accidently catching the painted areas while I was sanding down the accents to get the silver, and I also nearly removed all the accents entirely on one of the valve covers. Absolute ballache, but a good learning experience.

The intake and valve covers were a little too nice and made everything else look twice as bad, so I gave a couple of the more visible pieces a once-over with a brass brush and fitted new bolts here and there. Only realised after I assembled everything that I missed quite a few areas, which was a little disappointing, but it isn't exactly a show car. Schrödinger's OCD - wanting to do a good job in the laziest way possible.

Valve covers have been slowly leaking since like last November. Finally got around to them this last weekend since they're a pain in the ass to get to without taking the intake manifold off.

Decided to strip them down and throw some paint on them while I was at it. Happy to say nothing seems to be dripping now, so looks like it all worked.

I'd check trans fluid level first, 03 runners came with a different transmission than the rest of the 4th gens and you should have a dipstick. If that's fine then I'd suspect the torque converter next, those were a problem part for some people. If that's not it then I'd guess there's some shit stuck in the valve body somewhere and it's time for a rebuild.

I bought a chinkshit sandblasting cabinet about 10 years ago, but it turned out that the cabinet leaks everywhere, the included light is useless and also my compressor at the time was way too weak. I've had a good enough compressor for the last 5 years but only now I finally took the cabinet apart and added sealant everywhere and upgraded the light so that I can actually use the sandblaster.

Replaced my cracked shitbox seats. Had to swap one backrest cover but wasn't so bad. Got to shampoo the carpet with them out which always feels good.
Anyone know how to get old heated seats working again? The heater element is a wire in the foam. No obvious breaks. I was going to just check continuity and reflow solder.

Dropped my transmission pan for a service/fluid change since Ford in their infinite wisdom decided I don't deserve a drain plug.

Glad I did, because this fluid has definitely never been changed in the 170k miles on the car. Still has the factory dust plug in there.

buddy and i bought pic related for 300 dollarydoos. some lulz were had when we tried feeding the mig wire and it unravelled on us, wasted like two metres of the stuff lol.
never done any welding before so we practiced stick welding by trying to plug up holes in an exhaust manifold that were originally for the heater riser valve that we since removed.
lots of slag but we got better. welding is actually pretty damn fun.
that little welder can do stick, mig and tig, not bad at all for 300 bucks.

I tried that trick where you d/c the negative to see if your alternator is dying. In all the examples I saw the engine stalled immediately. Mine turned off gently after 2 mins. Tf that mean?
