I will answer anything i can without breaking my NDA too much
>>29072355What car brand new would you buy today? Are new EVs better than new combustion engine cars? Are newer cars more reliable than old ones?Any brand that has a particularly intriguing line-up in the works?
>>29072355Are there any new wagons on the way?
>>29072361>What car brand new would you buy today? It really depends on what you want from a car. Contrary to popular opinion i feel like hyundai has recently been killing it quality wise. Bmw is also making solid cars at the moment. >Are newer cars more reliable than old ones?It really depends, more reliable than 2005 mercedes/french car, less reliable than old japanese cars. New cars are increasingly made from cheaper and recycled materials and the engines constantly need to pass through stricter emissions, which means running smaller turbo engines at higher boost levels and leaner burn, leading to more wear than lets say a turbo car from the early 2000's. In my testing career i have seen pretty much similar failure points across the board from all european manufacturers.>Any brand that has a particularly intriguing line-up in the works?Audi and Toyota, audi's new RS models are very fun to drive, and the RS5 is just a start. I have little insider knowledge with toyota but they are developing a new mr2 and celica successors>EV better? I used to be very anti-EV until i drove the new cayenne EV turbo, i have about 10k km clocked on that car and its incredibly impressive. With the battery tech advancing at the pace its doing, i could see myself driving a EV daily in 5 years time and feel like it wouldn't be a compromize. A 450+km range with a charge time of 30 minutes from 10% to 90% would not slow down my own road trips at all. But you really cant beat the feeling of a ICE car. Porsche's simulated gearshifts were a fun gimmick to try out in the new taycan though.
>>29072355how much do you make a year?
>>29072370Audi A6 AllroadBenz C-Class WagonGWM Ora 7 WagonI have also seen a polestar prototype with wagon like proportions going around.
>>29072380It depends on where i travel. If i do testing in my home country i make about 3500-3800€ and get free hotels/travel, if i go overseas/to another country i get around a 1000€ bonus monthly on top. Its about the average pay of an engineer in the trade but i do not have a degree myself. I usually spend a few months working at a specific country. Last year i made around 45k with 2 months off for vacation/quiet time with testing
>>29072355why are you so spineless
>>29072382>I have also seen a polestar prototype with wagonYes Polestar 4 with wagon ass. There is also the i3 Touring for 2027.
>>29072379>Contrary to popular opinion i feel like hyundai has recently been killing it quality wise.*ICCU craps out on you on the freeway*Jokes aside, they're solid otherwise and to Hyundai's defence they extended warranty to 15 years. I still trust a Hyundai more than a Tesla with my life.Regarding Porsche, they were making the Taycan way back in 2020 superior to many premium 2026 EVs. Way underrated today due to early battery issues now fixed. The Cayman EV is going to be great too. You don't happen to know anything about it?
>>29072410Taycans along with other EV's also have issues with the heat pump crapping on itself, and the cooling fans of the battery like to go dead on the ev porsches, the fan is a 5000+$ repair
>>29072379i just cant get over how ugly that virtual cockpit ishave you seen the concept c?
>>29072410On the EV cayman/boxster, i have seen some testing, but i have no idea on a potential launch window. They have been going around tracks for a while now in varying stages of completedness. Saw a ev boxster early this year up in the nordics driving in the snow with the roof down.
>>29072420Agree on the infotainment/display, its awful. Also the turn signal stalks are dumb. Most of the people i've talked to hate them. Have not seen the concept c outside of press photos yet.
>>29072355>Ask me anything BUTT OR BOOBS?
>>29072355tell us about all the 2 seater, fun, affordable sportscars coming to market
>>29072436Butt>>29072436All quiet on the western front
How could I get a testing job without a degree like you did?
>>29072498Depends a lot on where you live. Most testing is done in a manufacturers home country or in a place with extremely hot or cold conditions like morocco/sweden/finland. If you are working in north america your best bet would be to start as a test driver for autonomic driving cars. You can find those jobs with a google search, other sites to look out for are UTAC and and indeed career pages for "test driver". Starting test driver salary is not that high and road testing can be extremely boring at times. A motorsports/professional driving background helps too
where can I buy that testing camo wrap
>>29072355How are the new EVs doing?
>>29072379>Porsche's simulated gearshifts were a fun gimmick to try out in the new taycan though.Disregarding everything you say because you said this one thing
>>29072667I think it was implimented well, and its just an option you can choose to use or ignore completely. Some people want it so why not make it? Especially when hyundai got praised for the same system by car journalists. >>29072660I am pretty neutral on them, i see them as a necessary evolution especially in this age of CO2 penalties, but they excite me about as much as a toaster, for me the problem is the fact that almost all EV's deliver their power in exactly the same way. A 500hp bmw i4 feels just like a 500hp audi s6 ev, while a rs5 and bmw m3 feel completely different from each other despite having the same amount of power.
>>29072706>Some people want it so why not make it?It's called catering to ricers, there's no point. You could be adding actual value to the vehicle and not pushing this little kid temu light up bullshit
