I have a 1994 Nissan Altima automatic transmission with Federal emissions. I need to change the resonator pipe assembly which goes from the catalytic converter to the muffler. The problem is there's a rear crossmember, suspension I guess I don't really know a whole lot about cars but it goes from the left rear tire to the right rear tire and the muffler is snaked around the spare tire tub and then up over the crossmember and then it connects to the muffler. I can detach it from the muffler and from the catalytic converter and the hanger, but when I try to pull it out it is snaked in such a way that the crossmember gets in the way or the spare tire tub is in the way. So I think I need to drop the crossmember but I'm not sure if that's safe or how to do it safely. Do I just Jack the car up and support it with Jack stands on those frail looking jack points? And then loosen the cross member or is that going to be a problem is that going to send springs or something flying everywhere I don't really know what's going to happen if I loosen it.
Take it to an exhaust shop. You don't have a welder or a clue what you're doing.

idk shit about your actual car, but the description you gave makes me think it could be a torsion beam or the axle. if you post a photo it'd be easier to know for sure. actual braces or cross members are completely safe to remove unless they're a pile of rust (or connected to one). do not fucking disconnect a torsion beam (or axle, obviously)are you replacing the pipe with something that connects in more places? i.e. if you hack the exhaust off, can you install the new one while this "brace" is in the way? that's certainly the easiest way>>29072718>doesn't offer assistance>doesn't know what plebbit spacing isfuck off newfag

Like the number on the diagram, if you are talking about 1 I'm pretty sure that's a part of the subframe and will be a bitch to remove. It seems like you would remove the rear suspension to remove the crossmember. Always put jackstands on pinch welds. Unless it's rusted to shit. Be safe brother

>>29072694I think the "crossmember" will lower when you jack up the car allowing you to get the exhaust out. When you have jacked up the car you need to support it with something like wheels, wood stumps to prevent the car from falling on you.
