What mods do I need to make my shortbed F150 OK off road? It's 4x4 but doesn't have FX package so no diff lock.

I'm thinking:

1. 34 inch tires
2. 2.5 inch lift kit(Bilstein? Are there betters?)
3. Skidplate set

Do I need to install diff locks/torsion diffs?

Lower your suspension a lot so we can laugh when you get stuck on the road

Why don't you actually go off road first and find out what it needs for yourself?
Anon 90% of the obstacles guys kit their vehicle out for could be done by a bone stock Subaru Forester. You don't need all that shit, a skid plate and a folding chair will do you just fine.

In this order: MT tires, locker (or LSD if you prefer), winch.

Nobody uses their winch. It's a meme.

just because a stock Corolla can go on gravel/dirt trails doesn't mean it'll survive it or do it comfortable

there's no replacement for ground clearance, grippy tires, and skidplates

I am talking about actual off road capability, not taking a rental down a dirt road. I've seen guys spend thousands on these vanity upgrades only to get embarrassed by some guy in a stock XJ that cost less than their entire setup.

Winch ia 100% dependent on locale.
Out west in hard pack desert its borderline useless.
Down in the Okefenokee Swamp youll die without one.

A winch is one of those things that you buy while hoping that you never have to use it. But once you need it, you'll be happy you have it.

100% depends on your definition of "offroad". You're asking here so you're probably some faggot that thinks a muddy dirt road means "offroad" but imma give you advice regardless.
Locking diff is such a massive upgrade to offroad capability, this really should be first on your list.
Get an auto/e/selectable locker in the rear and only engage your single front wheel when you're thinking "oh shit, I'm stuck!!".
Larger tires help with capability but come with problems. First of which is that you should regear for larger tires, which then means you prob either lift and/or trim fenders.
Also it fucks up your daily 'on the road' driving quality so now it kinda sucks to take to work without additional mods to fix the shit you've fucked up.
Armor is prob the last thing I'd get except maybe some rock rails on the sides but again... depends on your environment.

I offroad my bone-stock maverick and all you need is clearance. I have 9in of clearance and have to go slow in spots but for the most part "offroading" to get to destinations and offroading with the purpose of testing your vehicle as a hobby is completely different.

Getting to destinations offroading shouldn't be hard in a F150. Higher profile tires are generally a given for an easy way to get more clearance, but other than having an AT tire you probably don't need anything else
