Because they drive like something from 2005. This is both good and bad, depending on how you look at it.
>>
Frontier is a better truck-truck but it's a Nissan so it's basically American in terms of reliability, and uses components from 10 years ago (for better and worse)

midsize trucks would be based if their rear seats were actually usable. most people don't need an F150, but buying a Frontier/Ranger/Tacoma is basically a glorified 2-seater

the long bed is 6'1" inside length. That is long by today mid size standard. With the tailgate down, it fits a 4x8 plywood sheet without overhang.
>>
>>29072956
>this thing
It would seem they still have titan frames.
They used to only offer crew cab + long bed in the sv trim. They had a bar welded across the frame which kept you from easily installing a titan gas tank on the otherwise titan frame. But they no longer sell titans so I guess long pro4x is on the menu.
Breakover angle would keep me from buying one. You could buy a lift and titan swap everything or you can buy a used titan and save the hassle.

>Buying a 2026
Why? I’m not being sarcastic. I’m genuinely curious. Why would you buy a 2026?

Older is cheaper, less gay ass screens, less spyware, less emissions garbage, better built. What is the appeal of a new truck? Or anything built post-Covid?

I drive a 2020 V8 1500 Denali. Picked up for less than the piece of shit in OP’s image. Even it is too new for me, but at least it has a real speedometer and tachometer, and it was easy to disable the DFM garbage. On the 2022s and up, you have to rip off the wheel well cover just to shut off the auto stop-start and DFM.
>6.2 sucks
Yes, true, but I put an extended warranty on the engine and transmission.

I’m not trying to be elitist. It’s not like I drive a Cateye or anything. I just do not understand why people buy new trucks. It just seems like you pay double the price for a shittier truck.

Mid-size trucks suck all around.
>Gas mileage still sucks
>No V8 (thanks government)
>Not considerably cheaper on the used market than a full-size
>Less supply, so harder to find exactly what you want (unless you buy new; gross)
>Buying new is a total ripoff ($35k for a fucking Maverick)
>Unusable backseat
>Would be better with no backseat at all, but that’s even harder to find
>Worst of both worlds. Is a crew cab but with an unusable backseat
>Still pretty fucking big, not really small or more maneuverable
>Lose towing and load capacity for basically zero tangible gain
>Crew cab and extended bed still makes it a fucking landwhale on wheels
Seriously, it’s like what’s the fucking point? I tried to buy a midsize, but I kept running into all the issues above and decided to just buy a 1500 Denali instead. Barely cost more than an equivalent Ford Ranger would have cost me.

It’s just fucking stupid man. It’s like midsize trucks were designed for the dude who complains that
>Modern trucks are too big
And is willing to eat a shit sandwich in order to buy a truck that is slightly less big but still too big.

Fuck man, the truck market just sucks. We need Chinese EVs now.

I didn’t option it, retard. Bought it off some boomer who only drove it 3k miles a year. Thing sat in a garage until it depreciated over 50%, and then I swooped in and bought for the same price that retards spend on a Ford Maverick.

Denalis are the ultimate boomer truck. Senile fat retards buy them for $90k so they can drive to Walmart and the golf course. Then they die of the clot shot 2 years later, and their daughter auctions it off for less than half that.
>>
>>29073071
>>Buying a 2026

not OP, but used prices and interest make buying new cheaper than used in a lot of cases

and if you go back far enough to where the real depreciation has happened, you're looking at a 5+ year old truck with 100k miles, so now you gotta deal with 100k mile service items like. for a Silverado, that means serpentine belt, timing belt, coolant flush, probably spark plugs and brakes

and that's ignoring other items not included in the maintenance schedule, like failing infotainment, owner neglect, transmission failure, etc

I bought my 2025 Frontier King Cab S 4x4 for 34k OTD plus I got a good interest rate of 2.85%. The truck does everything I care for it to do. I actually love it. The 9 speed is good and doesn't hunt like I thought it would. It also has a 516nm torque rating like it's Mercedes counterparts. My only 3 gripes are mine wasn't optioned with the e-locker, the DI fuel pump is very loud, and the factory tires sucked so i swapped those out at 375 miles with Wildpeak AT4s. It's very easy to maintain too. Every drain and fill is easy to get to except the transmission needs a special tool but I'll worry about that at the 30k service. It's nice to have the updated M205 front diff and the updated Dana 44. It's basically a Nissan Titan stuffed into a mid-size package.
>>
>>29072956
>5 ft bed = "long bed"
What a joke
>>
Reminder that the Maverick has more cab room than the ranger, tacoma, frontier, canyon and colorado entirely because it's unibody, and the outer body dimensions are significantly smaller all around also because it's a unibody

Midsize are dumb if you ever have kids and it's your only vehicle. If you don't actually need a truck in day to day the maverick is what you get

Every trim has backup sensors too. If you can't make do with that then idk what to tell you.

>>

Top trim Maverick is just some bullshit slop put together just like the 90k F150s, it makes zero sense to purchase one.

There's packages that are just stupid bullshit, like how the base XL model has blacked out A pillar badging, black unpainted door handles, black unpainted front bumper... If you get an XLT or Lariat for several thousands more these things become painted, but you now have the option to spend a thousand more for the black package that makes these chrome/body color painted things black again.

Literally no reason to uptrim a Maverick, just order an XL hybrid with 3 boxes checked: AWD, 4K tow, bed spray. That's it you're done, you want something better go buy a different vehicle

But it’s not even fucking affordable anymore.

All you retards say is “Why would you ever need anything more than a Maverick?”
It’s not that I need more. It’s that “more” is the same fucking price as a Maverick. It’s the worst fucking truck on the market because it’s priced completely wrong. What other bottom trim options are there for the same price? When I was buying my Maverick I was actually shopping against Civic hybrid and Corolla Cross hybrid. The base Maverick was the cheapest option and had more shit than the competitors for the same price (mav has rear usb-c, civic didn't, no awd on civic).

Frontiers here start at $10k more, Rangers are $10k more. All to use twice the gas while driving RWD 99% of the time, and every single part is more expensive - no thanks.

It's one of the cheapest brand new vehicles you can buy. You're telling me you won't spend $5k more than a Corolla to get a maverick that can do so much more? Plus dealing with Ford is so much better. I factory ordered my maverick with my exact specs, paint and everything just for me, while toyota points you to the one white corolla they have and tells you to fuck off if you want a certain color.

>What other bottom trim options are there for the same price?
I don’t know what you paid for your Maverick, but a new base Maverick is about $28k nowadays, and a new base Chevy Colorado is about $32k. Basically the same ballpark.

But my point is if the new Maverick is about $30k, and a new Ram 1500 is about $40k, why tf buy the Maverick? Is $10k a lot of money, yes. Is the Maverick a whole lot less truck for a 25% discount? Yes.

Oh yeah, and a Tacoma is also about $32k starting.

And then the Maverick becomes extremely fucking stupid if you’re not buying the base model. Cuz now you’re spending Ram 1500 Tradesman money on a fucking Maverick, which is dumb at any fucking trim.

And then, of course, buying used is always a fucking option. 3 years and 40k miles, and now a V8 F-150 Lariat is in striking distance of a new Maverick. Is comparing a used truck to a new truck fair? Not really, but I don’t hate on anyone who buys a used Maverick. I still wouldn’t, but it’s not a bad decision.

I think the problem here is the Maverick got too popular, Ford slowly raised the price, and the consumer base hasn’t caught on that it’s not really a good deal at all at the new pricepoint.
>Yeah man, it was a great truck when it was $20k.
Cool, but it’s not $20k. It’s $28k. Probably $32k after dealer markups cuz it’s still popular despite making no sense.

It’s like the people paying $2k below MSRP for a used Tacoma. Like nigga, if the price ain’t right, just don’t buy it. Buy something else.
>>
>>29073418
I paid $29.2k USD for my mav, factory ordered exactly how I wanted it.

You're also comparing apples to oranges. Maverick is a very different vehicle to drive. It's not only bigger than the midsize trucks inside but it's much smaller on the outside, and you can swing it around in traffic like a civic while a midsize will feel like it will flop over on it's side.

Insurance, gas and parts on a maverick are all in the same class as a SUV and not a truck.

A full size truck does nothing for me besides making getting around harder. You seem to think I'm getting more out of extra bed size I won't use, towing capacity I won't use, etc. I wanted a car, not a truck. I bought the best car I could get that had good projected reliability.
>>
>>29073434
Mavericks "handle" because they have 3'' of ground clearance. Insurance is much cheaper on a BOF vehicle. "projected reliability"... And you bought a fucking Ford lmao. You people are delusional.
>>
>>29073435
It's a mazda L5 engine (makes it to 300k mi no problem) tied to a toyota licensed hybrid transmission and I have the towing package which increases transmission cooling. Everything else is just a Ford Escape / Focus essentially in a truck shape, which means I have McDonald's struts and no leaf springs. This same system is in taxis being used over 500k miles.

Everything in the maverick is "more robust" than most of the other hybrids. The battery is coolant cooled, there is no direct injection like the Honda hybrid engine.

Insurance is actually higher on all the BoF trucks than the Maverick as well, I'm sure you didn't even bother asking AI about this.

Look man, I’m glad it’s the perfect vehicle for you, but it’s the wrong price. It just fucking is. It sucks that there’s nothing similar on the market to stave off Ford’s greed, but $30k to roll around in a unibody truck on steelies is just fucking grim. The Ram Dakota is coming back at least.

The truck market is fucking gay and retarded. I obviously buy used, but I really do feel for the people who like buying new cars. Shit is just fucking batty rn and makes no sense.

But hey man, if the Maverick is the car for you, I’m glad you love it.

It is a little retarded to brag about MPG buying a new/expensive vehicle. You can save a lot more money at the dealer’s lot than you can at the pump.
>>
>>29073448
Have you popped the hood or had a look under your Maverick? I can tell you haven't otherwise you wouldn't be saying all this shit. Oh and don't use Taxis as a durability benchmark. Those things live super easy lives. I've also seen CVT Nissans being used as Taxis so yeah.
>>
>>29073450
It's nice that you're complaining about it's price but you're ignoring that everything else has went up too. It's one of the cheapest vehicles you can buy. It's going to be expensive compared to a 7 year old bigger more expensive vehicle with more miles, that's just how it is and always has been.

$20k to $30k is a 50% jump, which is higher than most vehicles over the last 6 years.

And the entire point I’ve been making is that the Maverick (due to its popularity) has closed the gap between it and midsize, BOF trucks. The Maverick doesn’t make sense where it now.

Yeah I pop the hood and see practically the same shit as my Honda accord had. With plenty of space to get at everything for maintenance since the Mav is a basic bitch fleet utility vehicle. My sparkplugs are going to take me like 15 minutes.

Oh no but my clamps are cheap and will need to be replaced whenever I work on hoses (haven't touched a single hose for over 400k miles of driving on my 3 vehicles). It's also TERRIBLE that there isn't a single rubber belt on the engine. Guess I'll go trade it in

Implying other V8s are more efficient? Any truck is gonna cost a lot in gas unless you get a Maverick or an F-150 Lightning. Any argument about fuel efficiency of the Maverick is negated by the fact that you spent $40k on a fake truck. Gonna take a lot of fill-ups before you break even in gas savings versus spending $20k more than anyone ever should on a Mavshit.
