My buddy calls these "N Wagons". Why do they have this reputation? I thought Cadillac was prestigious?
>>

Cadillac is American, therefore it's not prestigious.

how did tesla, despite being american, become more prestigious than anything european to the point where even europeans were tripping over themselves to buy a tesla.

Humourously, the phrase "the Cadillac of" is still common parlance even though many, many missteps in terms of product offerings have watered down the brand image to the point that few would regard a Cadillac as "the Cadillac of cars." Because for so long GM frequently slapped a Caddilac badge on the same model as Chevy etc and upcharged a lot for it, the brand has more than a whiff of chintz. The gen Xers and millennials who looked at a Cimarron and bought a Cavalier need a reason why they should look at an Escalade instead of a Suburban. Today's GM is probably doing a better job of differentiating but not everyone knows or cares.
Some cultures are more find of chintz than others.

Tesla was once upon a time the darling among all car brands in the eyes of environmentalists and IT types worldwide by virtue of being the only viable mass market EV manufacturer in existence. Even then I wouldn't say they were considered prestigious, cool maybe but not prestigious.

In earlier times that comparison was made to the Stutz Bearcat.

They are viewed as prestigious therefore niggers love them. It's the same as with designer clothes. Actually wealthy people are typically less ostentatious and will buy something like a pickup truck, or coup instead.

>I thought Cadillac was prestigious?
They were and their luxurious interiors and brocade upholstery in the sedans was very nice. It felt like sitting in a real sofa at home. But then they changed as the times changed and SLAB CULTURE took over the cadillac sedan scene.

Pre 60's they were the most advanced luxury car on the planet sold in mass. They had more power, shifted smoother, were quieter, rode better, and had more features at the time that Rolls Royce and other euro makes did not. However GM in their infinite ineptitude has ruined the brand.
There were other brands that did it better, however they were defunct.

so what you're saying is an american brand is more prestigious than any european one?
>>
>>29075488
>>29075864
Nta but explain your reasoning.
>>
>>29075924
The initial argument was that Tesla is more prestigious than Euro cars in Europe. The point that Chinese dogboilers are more popular than Tesla in France and Germany does not counter the initial argument. Prestige and popularity are not equivalent, and even if they were it could merely been an indication that both American and Chinese electric appliances are more prestigious than European ones.
>>
>>29075934
>Tesla is more prestigious than European cars because they sell more
>Chinese cars are more popular in Europe than Teslas
>Chinese cars are not more prestigious than Teslas because popular does not equal prestigious
>>
>>29075938
It's still above average cognitive ability for an american
