At my last company I worked for, they went remote during covid. During that time they had an explosion in hiring talent because my field has almost no remote jobs. because of this they were able to hire people way overqualified for the role. The quality of our products went way up, deliveries were happing on time, business saw a massive spike because of how happy our clients were.

The retarded boomer execs decided business doing well and employees being happy was a terrible concept, and they needed to lick the ass of the other boomer shareholders and forced us all back into office.

I told them I wanted a 10% pay raise to be competitive with other in-office jobs in this field. They said no, offered me 2% which was less than what I was making when factoring in inflation. so I said fuck em, left, and now work in office for 20% more than I was making before. Anyone smart that was working with me did the same thing. Anyone remaining was either new to the industry so they couldn't get out with only 1-2 years of experience, or they sucked at their job and couldn't find something else.

So now this explosion of talent they got during/post covid eroded to newfags and jeets who sucked at their job, and their clients were absolutely fuming because of it. They took on a shit load more buisness in that ~5 years, then lost a solid 30% of their engineering team in a year, almost all of them being the top performers.

I'm still barely making more than I was when I factor in the extra time I spend commuting now but at least the corperate dicksucker boomers are seeing their precious KPIs tank from their dumbass retardation.

I also hate 5-6 but at least I have a lot of daylight afterwards. What sucks about 2nd (typically 2-10:30) is that overtime becomes 12:30 or even 2:30am when you leave work. Now your cycle is shifted from waking up at 7-8 to waking up anywhere between 10-12, and you leave for work at about 1:00. You're extra fucked if you live with anyone else and can't make noise at night.
