Why are enthusiast Hondas so expensive now? It seems to me that their abundance and budget price when they were new should keep them cheap and affordable, but all I see is not rusted barely running and driving Integras for 6k+ dollars, preludes for 10k+, Civic Si for 8k+, and S2000s for 30k+. It's not fucking fair. Even the basic econoscrap DX Civics, Integras, and RSXs are selling for much more than an equivalent condition Corolla or Maxima or other Jap cars.

I don't think the emissions and power thing are an issue because by that logic the European version should be worse off due to the extremely strict emissions we have. The new civic hybrid with the 2.0L hybrid engine also has 0 issues.
I don't know whether it's a parts issue, assembly issue, maintenance issue or gas octane issue. But it's still wild to me that Honda's are blowing headgaskets this much in the US and Canada.

Probably $2000-$2500. Previous owner is a friend of mine and her husband rebuilt the engine then lost interest when the gas tank needed replacing for some reason. Engine actually runs perfect just has the usual D series oil leaks. Transmission is crispy smooth. All the AC parts are still bolted up so hopefully I'll have it working for just the cost of r134a.

a more sporty car would be fun but the only thing I would want is an ND with recaros or a GR86 but I have lumbar issues and I think the upright position on the ITS, the adjustable seat, and the normal sedan doors will make it tolerable.

Smash or pass, '87 civic wagovan, 2wd, 160k og miles, 2nd owner, $3,000, owner says it won't idle but claims it's just carb. It's for sale on the side of the road so I got to look at it cursorily, superficially it's super clean, even wheels and tires good etc. so I feel like it's well cared for. I haven't really questioned the owner yet but ofc top of my mind is, if you could fix this with a new weber or gasket kit, why haven't you just done it. I guess I'm just wondering about 3rd gen reliability and daily potential, I've read a lot of people saying 4th gen is leagues better for parts etc. but I'm kind of skeptical, I wonder if they're just redditfags etc who can't into carb. Anon with the fg4 with locked up transmission here. Don't know what happened but I disconnected the shifter cables from the transmission to try and narrow down if the shifter or the transmission was fucked. Shifter started moving freely after being disconnected so I figured the transmission was fucked but once I put everything back together the transmission suddenly works. Still feels a little odd but it feels far better than it was pre-lockup. Did I unstick something? Anyone else have something similar happen?

That's not bad for the mileage, and they have a cult following, so you likely won't lose real money if you need to sell it. Cheap to maintain, but some parts may be hard to find, but mostly creature comfort stuff. All the mechanical stuff is shared with other cars, so it's just spending the time researching part numbers or reading about what is interchangeable with what.

Thanks anon. I checked it out for about 2 hours and test drove it. Running a bit hot and got some smoke from under the hood but pretty sure I determined that was from some oil that got on the exhaust manifold, hard to check coolant because of the cloudy tank too but I might go back with something to use as a dip stick. Compression very even and started right up on a jump (bad battery.) Guy just about told me he'd take 1800 too. I'm extremely on the fence because financially and space-wise I should really not be thinking about another project, even as a deal, fucking hell that shitbox was very fun to drive though and I probably won't get another chance. The sealants are based too because they last way longer than carnauba wax, I remember this one guy had a black G coupe on YouTube and he rubbed Wolfgang Sealant on it and it was the deepest fucking glossy black you've ever seen in your life, very similar to how the sealeant brings out the color in your Civic.

Honda and BMW are my two favorite brands because one makes the best rwd cars, and the other makes the best fwd cars. Also one makes good <6 cyl motors and the other makes good >6 cyl motors. Both also make amazing bikes too.

Yes. Ended up moving the ansuper scratched up 2016 coupe. Which I only now repairing paint on with maacco because it was the only place meeting me on 4k for paint. Honestly if it is clear coat issues on yours i would just go to one of them for 1 stage or clear instead, mine had crows feet and clear failure on my 9th gen.

Okay car got back. They were very aggressive with sanding. Trims marred, I need to still do detail work on the front lights, replace the rear lights and light bar, and it looks like the inside of the door handles and inside corners of the mirrors will need to be buffed. I paid 3.5k overall and got a new hood.

Apparently I need 90days to 6 months to buff and polish. Car had paint colour fade pretty bad before the repaint. Repaint isn't perfect. But some detailing should make it a lot better.

It's lovely and passes the 5 foot test, I would prefer the thicc clear coat that has orange peel and imperfections, which happens to every painter, than paying to do the de-nib finesse operation where they remove clear to make the job smooth and gorgeous, but you have less polishable clearcoat to remove if the car does get scratched.

Just stay rubbing wax or sealant on there every few months and it should remain a gorgeous Civic coupe, nothing like rubbing your hands on a clearcoated car that is waxed or paint sealed, its like having a car from the dealer every day.

I don't like driving anymore. All the cars I like and own are 30 years old that can't handle long road trips without catastrophic failure, I can't park my 30 year old Hondas unattended anywhere or they're stolen or some jealous cretin vandalizes it somehow. The roads are generally just not fun to drive on anymore with increased traffic and road rage a common daily occurrence usually many daily occurrences. I only get that feeling back when it's 2 in the morning.
