don't know about the coolest but I like this one
The day I find a 1st wave harmonic tuned engine is the day I can die happy. The closest is the joke engine "Skyram", but it is not actually properly tuned to 1st wave harmonic as the exhaust manifold isn't 72 inches in overall length to match the 36 inch intake.

>>29080341I used to be a deckhand on the river and the boat I rode on was a monster (at least when it comes to craft on the inland waterways). It has two 4500hp diesels, and boy of boy, I loved hanging out in the engine room. Lol. For real. I wanted to work my way to engineer just so messing with those engines could be my actual job, but I got depressed and tried killing myself and went to prison instead. They would have me clean out the bilge whole the engines were running, it was a little claustrophobic, but still cool, albeit extremely messy. Each engine was probably about the size of a decent mid size RV or so. And the turbos were so loud that you couldn't really go out on the aft second deck without earpro. They just howled like a banshee basically. I really miss those giant ass engines. I could never get a torque number out of anybody for them though. Our HP was rated at 9,000, so god only knows what those torque figures were like.

>>29080647Well, most high perfomance engines if possible aim between 4th or 2nd wave harmonic. The pulse strength/supercharging effect with 2nd wave harmonic tuning is around 10%, which scales with other forms of perfomance tuning. 1st wave harmonic tuning however is between 15% and 20%. The catch is the insane intake/exhaust runner lengths required and the pulse waves which are balanced via it only deliver increased perfomance at a certain rev range, so you sacrifice engine bay space and perfomance on a broad rev range in return for increased perfomance at peak revs. This is not considering the target peak rev though, high peak rev ranges require far shorter intake/exhaust runners so they are more practical to pull off (this is part of the reason why some track built ITB engines have short velocity stacks), but low peak rpm ranges which often get the most benefit from wave tuning require far longer runners which is why such insane lengths are needed.Pic rel is a "Long-Ram" big block V8, it's tuned to 3rd wave harmonic.
