I hit a deer last night. Is there any way I can get insurance to pay for this if I only have basic liability?
>>

No
>>

just get a new headlight from a junkyard
it will be cheaper than going through insurance even if you have no-questions-asked full coverage
>>
>>29081573
This, op could probably find a headlight and white bumper
>>
>>29081576
The bumper doesn't look damaged
>>
That doesn't look to terrible. You can fix it yourself
>>
yeah insurance is fucking bullshit. if you go through them even if they don't deny your claim your premiums will go up and you'll have an accident listed on your carfax which will lower the value of your car. it'll end up costing you way less in the long run to just fix it yourself or if you don't know how then ask your boyfriend to fix it for you.

deer is a no fault comprehensive claim. in my state, by law they can't charge for it but good luck proving they don't.

People with basic liability are either poor or have figured out that insurance is for
>being legally able to drive
>covering their ass if they hit something they don't own
>siccing their insurer's lawyers on anyone that hits them
All other uses are futile at best and self-harming at worst.

I recommend pic related and a rockauto/ebay headlight.

Holy shit, are you me? I own 3 cars with basic liability, but I max out my limits for personal property and medical bills if I cause an accident. I insure 3 cars for $240 and I have many speeding tickets and a recent accident.
>>
>having liability only insurance
bet you feel like a fucking idiot now huh. Couldn't afford the extra $400
>>
I think I sit in the center of a vinn diagram that combines not wanting to owe money on a loan, liking old shitboxes, driving too fast, but still trying to be responsible enough not to totally bankrupt myself if I screw up.
>>
>10 year old honda
just drive it into the ground who cares lol it's a car not a collectable
>>
That doesn't look like deer damage

Yeah, drove 2 hours to an Iron Maiden concert, then was 5 minutes from getting home and this cocksucking deer jumps into the road out of nowhere. I managed to slow down a little, so the damage wasn't too bad. He ran away fine, maybe a little bruised.

You could tell it's a 2016 Honda Fit just from my OP pic? Pretty impressive
>>
>>29083039
You can clearly see the honda logo on the wheel frisbee and no other honda has that third world style tall hood and tiny wheel combination

Run to the hills. Run for your lives.

Your insurance will go up regardless of the claim, they take any excuse to raise your rates. Reporting an accident also devalues your car, when you go to sell it and they pull the Carfax it shows record of an accident and people/dealers will use it as an excuse to offer thousands less, because it doesn't state the extent of the accident just that it was in one. That's why you don't report accidents to the police either, Carfax gets their info from police reports and insurance companies.

You're on your own. Insurance is a scam. Pretty much everything is.

Read your policy.
The answer is no.
You could try suing the DOT if there isn't adequate lighting or Deer Crossing signage, but that's a crapshoot.

That's why he shouldn't even file a claim, bro...

This.

that headlight looks like it costs $60 and lol just spray paint the bumper
>>
>>29081567
Not a chance. Anyway, it looks like you got staggeringly lucky and you'll just need a junkyard headlight and maybe have to tap the front of the fender out, a little bit. Believe me, deerstrikes can be a WHOLE LOT worse.

You would need comprehensive coverage (other than collision) to file a claim to repair animal damage, so if you only have liability coverage on your policy, they won't pay for the damage because you aren't covered for it. Don't mention the accident to them or report it to anyone. The damage is very minor and can be easily repaired yourself by buffing it or by replacing the panel, so even if you had the correct coverage for a claim, you shouldn't use it. Filing a claim is for significant/expensive damage only or for totalling out a car made in the last ten years or less. One of the reasons insurance premiums are insane everywhere is because we're at the logical conclusion of fifteen-twenty years of boomers and genXers filing claims for every nick and dent that the car they're financed up to their eyeballs on gets, then fighting the claim until they get what they want. Insurance companies don't use free magic money from nowhere to fix your car, you and everyone else in your underwriting area/bracket are paying for it with your premium, one way or another. You file claims, your insurance goes up. Only do it when you don't have another option; here and there is fine if necessary, but frivolous claims (and people driving without insurance + sketchy independent agents/brokers) have created the insurance house of cards every country is dealing with now.
>>
Just say you hit a wall and then yes, insurance will cover it.
>>
Don't go through insurance for that. You don't even have to go to the junkyard you can buy a new headlight housing on rockauto for cheap or eBay one pulled off a junkyard car for even less.
>>
>>29081567
did the deer have insurance?
>>
Never file a claim for something small like that. Only if your ride gets stolen by a nigger or similar. Your rates will get jacked up for shit you could just replace for a quick hundred.
>>
>>29081567
Comprehensive might cover it if you don't have collision.
You do have comprehensive right?
