Miatfags be sleeping on the nc, the nc is the best daily driver out of the miats, manual nc even comes factory stock with forged internals, upgrade path for a cheap 2.5l duratec swap is almost plug and play since the 2.0 mzr is a duratec 2.0, nc is best Miat but all the hype is in the nd
>>29082255Sure, you buy one, I'm sticking with NA's. Miata owners aren't sleeping on it, we know it's good, but nobody needs a yard full of cars that they bought just because they're recommended as a good daily.NA features I like*no airbags*no ABS*no power steering*air-conditioning
>>29082261>*no airbagsPill me on why this is good
>>29082255I'm not, there's a reason why I bought an NC when I could have easily bought an ND. I got to drive an ND RF for three weeks and I can honestly say the NC PRHT is better in basically every way. The NC feels more raw and visceral while also being more comfortable. The steering feels much more connected to the road and two people can actually sit in the NC without feeling cramped. I could honestly go on.
>>29082129Then post NBs or NCs anon. Most people want the NAs for the funny headlights, and the ND is the newest and best performing one, so it does make sense.
>>29082264>why this is goodDidn't say it was good, I said I like it. It's illegal to remove airbags in my country, so I like Miatas which I can switch my many aftermarket steering wheels around onto at my whim.
>>29082268Same as 787B
>>29082158Thanks I'm having fun again.
>>29082268Yeah, same here. Reminds me of my elderly neighbor being pulled over and reprimanded for not wearing his seatbelt in his truck, when it didn't have any and was therefore exempt from that law.
Who here /green/?
>>29082441I've never owned a green Miata, but the new green is really tempting me. Not saying this to diss yours but to admit I could never keep a dark rich color like that looking clean.

Just got to work, nobody bullied me in traffic and it was a comfy cruise. Didn't even have to use my AC since summer is over now.
>>29082645Thanks for your help. Tag, I'll take over now.I'm in Oz, booted up the AC for the first time this week. Working well after it's winter break.
Block heater season is coming. I gotta pull the underbody panels off, give it a fresh clean, and refresh my lanolin coating. My garage is currently occupied by an in progress transmission rebuild though so I can't get my car miat started for a few more weeks
>>29082674>clean, and refresh my lanolin coatingVery wise, Anon. Anyone who has ever seen a rusty car in their area should do this.
>>29082703Oh yeah, makes a big difference. I've got 12 cans of surface shield and a handful of different cavity wands ready to go. I think it only took me 5 cans last year to get everything but having extra kicking around ain't bad
Hey guys, I'm in the process of going standalone and just ordered my ECU during a Labor Day sale.My tuner recommended using a Kia TPS instead of the BMW one. From what I understand, the main difference is that the Kia TPS doesn't require an adapter harness, but it does require its own adapter bracket. The problem is that I already purchased a $50 billet aluminum adapter for the BMW TPS, so if I stick with that setup, I would only need to buy a $35 adapter harness. I haven't purchased the TPS itself yet, and the Kia sensors appear to be slightly cheaper than the BMW ones. So, would you go with the slightly cheaper Kia TPS and buy a new $50 billet adapter bracket (sell the old one), or stick with the BMW TPS and just purchase the $35 harness? The total cost comes out to roughly the same either way, so I guess my main concern is the quality and reliability of the TPS itself. Is there any real advantage to one over the other? Also, which brand of TPS should I go with for either?
I'm looking at a 2006 with 30k miles this weekend, what should I watch out for on this vehicle that was apparently never driven?Soft top 6-speed manual.

>>29082441It ain't easy being green
>>29082785It must be what he is familiar with. Shouldn't be an issue for you, you can calibrate it yourself as long as you have it wired up correctly. For Megasquirts you click a button for 0 then you mash the button for 100% then it does the calculation based on the voltage reading and interpolates.
Posting my green duckbill since the temu faggot hates it so much :-)
I need a recommendation for a mounting kit.I'm reusing the old Metra mounting kit. It has broken tabs but still aligns. I ordered a 3d printed bezel that in the description shows the same exact radio but it doesn't fit correctly. What do I need here?
>>29083069
Be meRetarded as fuck ultra ricerChink rotors and hawk hps padsLiterally 4x Scamazon "drift" tires 90hp acceleration downhill no A/C(standard)-600hp deceleration (elite)Nobody talks about -how much of a hero good brakes will make you feel like. Sometimes I like to enter a corner like keichi tsuchiya where he just goes maximum braking to maxx throttle and does his best to upset the car and enter drift mode and I can because the brakes bite so good I can just like transfer all the weight where I want it and then just swing it hard as shit then just do like 9999999 steering input corrections. Thanks for your attention on this Miata matter.
>>29083072<3 red interiorCan't you just redrill the (cage?) that the headunit screws into? Yours appears black instead of the zinc finish on mine. Is that the Metra kit?
>>29083268https://youtu.be/F5RtqJsfAHMReminder that your Miata likes having fun just as much as you do.
>>29083285Yes. Stock radio brackets can still be bought new for $50 shipped. If it has the same alignment as the Metra, than the bezel still won't work.
>>29083299I would drill new holes in the brackets and maybe modify the brackets (weld extensions?) to lower and move the headunit further out of the dash. Why won't this method work?
>>29083286That was fucking intense lol Miat bullying Mitsubishi family. Dude I can't believe the WINDING ROAD BATTLE!! is just a road you can drive on in Japan that's crazyyyy
I'm sorry not WINDING ROAD BATTLE!!! it's called gunsai touge, wow
>>29083268>no A/CThis is an A/C-positive board. I'm not going to shun you for not having A/C but I would ask you to not bring it up again.
>>29083301I shouldnt have to modify anything. all radios have the same screw patterns so they all fit standard dinholes.
>>29082626I'm tempted by green as well. Otherwise it's red or white.
Not great.
>>29083644Fucking oof. What happened, run out of talent?
>>29083757That's just as good of an explanation as reality. Just pushed it way too hard on a fun road with too-old tires. So far, all I saw was a little plastic damage beneath the bumper and then some crushing in of rocker and frame rail. And certainly a ton of scratches and shit. Once I get the vehicle back (at the tow place right now), I will see what else. Managed to avoid all the trees. Pretty lucky, all thing's considered. Seems minimal damage and I didn't get hurt.
>>29083644NoOoOoOoO, you are going to nurse it back to full health r-right anon??
>>29083771That's the plan. I've only had her 3 months, I can't just give up already.
>>29083766Rest In Pepperonis... I suppose we all have to learn one way or another.
How fast can you guys take those Cloverfield/interchange loops? Recommended speed was 30 mph and I hit it at 45 ish and was shitting my pantsSlightly lowered NC with UHP all seasons (nothing top of the line...yet)
>>29083766>too-old tires.when will people learn that tires are the single most important thing on a car.why would anyone deliberately drive on shitty tires? even some $80 "all seasons" will outperform some 8 year old worn out rubber.
>>29083766>Skimped on tiresI have no idea how anyone in their right mind would ever do this. It's literally the only part of the car that touches the fucking road.
>>29083890ive taken 90 degree corners at 45mph. tires held, ZIIIs.i crushed myself against the door and had a hard time holding the steering. i might have put one tire over the yellow line but made the turn.i got really wobbly coming out of the corner as i tried to sit back in my seat normally.
>falling for the tire memeJust go to a dealership and get some throw away tires for freeYou can easily run with them for a year
>>29083936almost no one will install "used" tires.you would need to find some beaner tire shop in the shitty part of the city that'll do it.and then good luck trying to get firestone to do a lifetime alignment on "used" tires-t someone who just dealt with this shit after buying slightly used tires from a toyota dealership.
>>29083905>>29083906Yeah it was fucking stupid of me to drive like that knowing the tires were due for replacement. They aren't heavily used, as the PO barely drove the car, but they are, idk like 7 years old, iirc? Spent most of their life just sitting. I usually get on other people for keeping old tires, and here I go acting like a dumbass. I have no excuse.
>>29083949post damagethis is why its important to do all maintenance items after buying a car.change all fluids, and wearable items.
>>29083951I've done almost all the maintenance I need to. The car is (was? pls no) in great shape, just rolled 96K. All that's left are brake & clutch fluids, and tires. I really should have gotten tires right away. This was not the first time I pushed the car on that road, and it did fine previously, so I got too confident. I knew I was pressing my luck.I'll post damage once I am with the car again.
>>29083963is that a roll bar or a trap bar?
>>29083966Trap bar. It was already installed. I know, I should probably take it off. Though I have my doubts about whether or not there is any situation where you would worry about the bar yet would otherwise be okay.
>>29083967i hate fucking boomer so fucking much.mine came with it too, i took it off the first week i had the car.in a roll over your seat headrest act as a roll bar. the mouse bar can fold over your head.idk if this has actually been documented but post wreck picture show exactly that.remove that shit and scrap it. i tried selling and then giving it away for free for 2 years, in the end i cut it up. no one needs this shit on their car.let this experience be a good lesson for you. im glad youre okay>>29083766>some crushing in of rocker and frame railframe rails can be bent back and that'll be a good time to reinforce them with a butterfly brace.new fenders arnt cheap, but still available and red is a popular color. gl op.
>>29083890that speed on that turn is all but effortless in my ND on tecnas and ECS02s. 55+ mph, however, my pants are done shat. I try to keep from getting a false sense of security on these tires because having driven shitass bargain bin dunlops for most of my life, the ECS02s feel like an unlimited grip cheat code by comparison and they're especially good in rain above 50 F. kinda miss the bridgestones in that way, I remember feeling that they had crazy grip for the first few months I had a miata til I fucked around enough to find out. I can't imagine what the RE-71S/Z tires are like, that has to be too much tire for a miata that's not built to the hilt right?people can say what they will about the OEM bridgestones, they're really communicative and predictable (in the dry). sure, my ECS02 git gud woes can be solved by going to the track but the S001's were just plug and play dumbass fun.
>>29083037Nice, i'd ditch the flag pole.
>>29083909Yeah I can't tell if it's my brain going "you're going to die" or just physics making things feel worse>>29084226Yeah I entered that at 50 and ever so slightly eased off to the point that I was at 40 near the middle of it. Pants were shar and not sure I want to find out what losing grip at that speed on one of those feels likes
MX5s make superb tugs, apparently.
>>29084326It can be surprising what little cars can be capable of. I've pulled a few 4x4s out of muddy ditches and the like with my Blobeye in the past. Cool Austin btw.
>>29083976>idk if this has actually been documentedlmao this has never happened but it's super dangerous, trust me
>>29084335>I've pulled a few 4x4s out of muddy ditches and the like with my Blobeye in the pastNice! I've used a few odd things like motorised wheel barrows and lawn mowers to pull cars around, but it's mostly been on flat, paved ground. Pulling a whole-ass 4x4 out of a ditch with a fairly light car is pretty damn impressive.>Cool Austin btw.Cheers~ It needs a complete resto, but it's very much worth saving.
>wrenchlet, 20k miles into my nd miat'>check the manual for the first time since i bought the carwhat the heck? i thought i just needed to do oil changes, tire rotations, and check tire pressurei guess i shouldn't be surprised by most of this but do i really need to tighten ALL the nuts and bolts on the car every 15k miles? that seems like it will take forever.
>>29084446the one i posted was the schedule for extreme conditions, which i think i'm supposed to follow since i live in the american south east where it's extremely hot and humid for most of the yearthe "normal" schedule has a lot less inspecting but they still expect you to tighten all the nuts and bolts every 15k miles?

>>29084447On another website people post about their PPF bolts falling out a lot so it might be worth it to check those.

>>29084879Its easier to add something than to remove it. Some of us like flat trunks.
>>29085104Black accents instead of chrome, darker wheels, slightly tinted lights - there's more to it than just the paint.
>>29085174No matter what you decide, ebay tunas will be here to help.
>>29085015Get a matte black front and rear lip off eBay/Amazon to help with downforce. Rattle can the wheels black, slam it on some no-name springs and you will be an official MG representative. Make sure to paint all the badges black or remove them. It's all a lie. If the pinch welds are same height the wheel fender gap is larger in front. If the car is level you get positive rake. This is cause the rear fender is smaller.

My first car was black (and still is, I still own it), but I can't subject myself to that a second time. My last three cars have been white, and people in my life started joking about it being the 'tism with the third one. The blue and machine gray look nice in the sunlight, but rather gloomy when in shade, which is most of the time here.I rather like red but I have concerns about touch ups and such, since I plan to drive it quite hard. Do I just wait for green? Thanks for reading this drivel.
>>29085935>Do I just wait for green?Yes, but I'm biased, I love the new green. Production of zinc green starts in October. You may be able to order one now.

Just took it out for a nice relaxing drive during the morning low-traffic time. Chill, only redlined 3-4 gears. Took picrel. Great weather.
Don't mind the blurry pic, it's totally intentional.(Might drop the rear about 1/8th)

>>29088673Im going to need to make or buy a new intake. something like pic related. going to use GM IAT only.can someone ID this one and/or recommend me an intake?
God damnit. The weather is absolutely perfect for top down driving and I’m stuck in New Jersey all week for work instead of cruising.
what is this part called and what does it do?
>>29090110Idle air control valve. It controls how much air gets to the engine when the throttle is closed.
>>29090121NTA, but it baffles me as to why manufactures bother with these. The previous owner of my E46 had the ICV deleted, and it ran and idled perfectly fine using just the throttle body.
>>29090062would this setup work?the stock intake has a 6" drop, should I replicate that with an extra 90 degree elbow, or send it straight? would it fit without the drop?as always, a lot of the 2.5" stuff is sold out at silicon intakes. i would have to buy 2' straight pipe and cut it down. i dont think it'll need the bead.
>>29090141I have a 1.8 swapped NA, and looking at a stock NB intake, there is no drop.
>>29089859dammit shes pretty
>>29089888Sitting in it drops the rear, and it looks like you might have negative rake already.
>>29090137The E46 is a special case with a hybrid electronic and cable throttle body. Unless the car has the electronic side there to manipulate the throttle butterfly, an older style cable only throttle car has no way of maintaining an idle without a separate idle air control valve.
>>29090158Yeah I definitely do but it's a little too l much I think. Like it leaves the gap on the rear fender too wide with the roof up. Roof down looks fine cause of the weight but I don't park my car like thatI actually found out recently that if you get the car truly level at the pinch welds, the front center of wheel to fender lip is actually going to be 1/2 in higher in the front cause the fenders are different sizes. Think something like 14 F 13.5 R. So it's aesthetics vs functionality and I'm trying to find a balance. I'm at 13.5F and 13 13/16 or 7/8ths ths rear. Probably gonna drop it 1/16th or 1/8th. Apologies for the info dump
>>29090163>Probably gonna drop itKys
>>29090083You should slam it and add a front lip and a trunk lip. I'd black out the tail lights too it looks aggressive.
I don't like this /mg/ meta
>>29090159Probably should have mentioned that I generally meant this for cars that are fly-by-wire, but thinking about it more, I still don't see why this couldn't be achieved on cars with exclusively cable operated throttles. Carbs manage to filter the right amount of air with very simple "set and forget" mechanical principles, so why not setup throttle bodies to do the same? Why add an entirely separate control unit the requires it's own electrical signal to function? Just seems like needless complexity. I'm obviously missing something here, 'cause manufactures wouldn't do something if it wouldn't benefit them, but surely it couldn't just be to have near perfect control over the idle, right...?
Do a NB or NC thread it's always NA or ND I'm tried of it!
>>29090212I don't know about Euro/American manufacturers, but in Japan there were a set of regulations specific to idle emissions that tightened in the 90s. During the carbed era those regulations weren't so strict so set-and-forget was fine, but the technology wasn't there yet for drive-by-wire, so a primitive control unit was the best option then.
>>29090224Post NB or NC then, you retard. Don't complain if you're not gonna do anything. Go take a picture of your car, or cool ones you've seen driving around
>>29090224Majority of pics itt are NB/NC what do you mean?
>>29090237>>29090240NO YOU! MAKE IT NC OR NB OTHERWISE I WONT POST MY MIAT
>>29090224>>29090237>>29090240I think that Anon is trying to articulate that he'd like to see an NB-NC as the OP image. I am guilty of favoring the NA, ND as the OP, as I own and love the original, so there's a real bias there. Also the ND is the latest model, so I post it to show currency. Prepared the previous OP as the Zinc Green edition.
>>29090226Hm, interesting.

thoughts on this intake?im going standalone
>>29090334ARC? They sound a bit louder, but they tend to bounce about a bit. Mine wore a hole in the bottom where it'd been rubbing.
>>29090334>>29090347For what purpose?
>>29090418>For what purpose?ARC was one of Japan's top tuning houses in the 1990's. Running ARC parts are period correct for the NA. The Mazdaspeed air intake for the NA was made by ARC. Some of us like to keep our cars period correct.
>>29090423As in what effect does the bulbous intake have? I'm sure it serves a purpose
>>29090476From personal experience I'd say improved sound. I guess you'd have to read some Japanese Tuner Car magazines from back then. ARC were mainly aluminum fabricators, did a lot of intercoolers and piping kits for many Japanese performance cars. Went bankrupt and folded about 2000 IIRC.
>>29090347thanks, but your pic doesnt look like the same one. that ARC drops down behind the radiator. i found another similar design for sale from Rev9. see pic.
For me, it's the Racing Beat style intake NA/NB.There used to be cast aluminum knockoffs for $120 on ebay that you'd put your own good filter on but they seem to have disappeared.
>>29090625unfortunately, in my situation, with my 93 NA6 swapped 1.8, there aren't many compatible air intakes. I have cruise control that sits next to the stock MAF, so the majority of NB and NA8 intakes will not work for me.
>>29090630Fair, intakes aren't really important on these NA, I just like the sound. The RB comes with a cruise relocation bracket but when I installed it on my last miata picrel I cut the cruise module out entirely with wire cutters because fuck it.
Do you think this will fit in my engine? The 1.8 is slightly longer, the radiator is a bit thicker, and the fan sticks out more. there is no water neck to get in the waythe stock MAF is going away so the intake can be angle more towards the engine.
>>29090638If all else fails you can get better and thinner radiator fans like the Mishimotos.
>>29090643im trying to be budget conscious. i can put together a kit from silicon intakes for ~$130. see >>29090141the rev9 is ~$250 shipped and i'll probably need another $50 for bungs and an extension pipe where the MAF used to be.
>>29090650All I can tell you is good luck. You know the dimensions and setup you're working with. It's just an intake.
>>29090652not a single seller of the rev9 has dimensions posted. i did find one that has some decent pictures, i used it in my screenshot.i emailed them, waiting on a response. its 6am in cali so it'll be a while.
anyone with a stock NA6 can give me this measurement?
Im not gonna post my miot untill the OP is changed to a NB or a NC. I'm tired of NDs and NAs.
