anyone else's DMV pulling this with kei trucks? got a letter saying mine's getting reclassified as a "low-speed vehicle," capped at 25mph regardless of the fact it does 65 on the highway, just because it's under 660cc/47hp. already registered, passed inspection, and insured as a full vehicle for 2 years and now this. lady at the counter couldn't explain the reasoning past "insurance lobby pushed for it." is this coordinated across states or is my DMV just special. if they're gonna cap it at LSV speeds anyway why not just let me swap on mini truck tires and suspension since that's apparently the class they want to shove it into
>25mphThat's very generous. In Poland low-speed vehicles are capped at 25km/h.
>>29082850Your DMV is special.
Depends on what shithole you happen to be fromA bunch of states have randomly decided to ban kei cars or japanese imports altogether. A few of them lifted the bans after lobbying from enthusiast groups, so what you're facing may not be a permanent problem
It really depends if cops want to give a shit and decide to actually enforce it or not.t. Jaywalker
>>29082850If you are capped at 25, then slap a smv triangle on it and stop insuring it, registering it, and plating it and just drive the fucker...
>>29082850what state
In my state, if it's over 20 years old then there are no rules. If you could afford it, they'd let you register the fucking space shuttle.
>>29083025Jaywalking as a crime just exists to let cops arrest people they don't like. Much like loitering.
>>29082850>"insurance lobby pushed for it."fucking insurance scum.
>>29082850You gotta outjew the jew. Title it in Michigan as a rebodied vehicle and then transfer it to your current state, or don't. There's definitely also some tax loophole in Indiana as all the work trucks around here on the East Coast have Indiana plates so maybe look into that. Although I'm unfamiliar with what exactly is going on.
>>29083934retard
>>29082850>"insurance lobby pushed for it."lol it's certainly not insurance lobbying for these things to go away, they'll only ever be able to do liability insurance like any other older vehicle and not comprehensive it's most certainly stealerships
>>29083876space utility vehicle
>>29084830John Deere and Polaris, actually. They've been absolutely rabid in a handful of states because farmers and hunters figured out they can buy an $8k pickup instead of a $40k side by side.
>>29086181i welcome the smol pickup eramaybe we can some utes too
>>29082850>capped at 25mph regardless of the fact it does 65 on the highwaySo, like an e-bike with hacked software?
