Too much seriousness from people who read 30 page safety reports and worry about buying a car with a 0.1% chance of killing them vs a 0.2% chance.
Same at work. I liked my last job but that's mainly because they didn't give a fuck how many safety rules I broke.

People in England choose silver because it nets them 300 quid more on resale.
>>
>>29082911
90% of people buying new don't spec their own car, they just go to the dealership and get whatever the salesman wants them to go home with. Or they're buying certified pre-owned leasemobiles which are boring by necessity.

Here in my country white cars are considered more valuable because, by law, taxis can only be white

a blue CR-V != a blue ferrari

Decline of the white race.
>>
>>29083133
Unfortunate it is exactly this question that is why car colors are so fucking boring now.
White on every single car on the planet will at the very least look okay. Same with black and grey. This increases salability and re-salability, meaning that is what people are willing to buy, objectively.
Being an insanely good color on a certain amount of cars will in no way ever qualify that color to objectively be the best overall.
>>
>>29083133
High visibility. But if everybody has high visibility it would lose its effect.
>>
>>29082911
Unironically Dealerships and Women.

-Women only pick blue, grey, black and white (if they're old grandmas) Women buy 60% of new cars and control 80% of new car purchasing decisions.
-Dealerships only stock/buy colours that appeal to as many buyers as possible. Someone might WANT green, but is willing to settle for grey if it's all that is in stock. No dealership is going to order a dozen green fucking cars and hope for the best.

People should buy new cars before they need them, that way they can buy with favourable conditions and custom order with 3 month wait. Unfortunately retards wait until their current car breaks and have to buy what the dealership has (grey) like a bunch of gaybos

We typically aren't given the choice anymore, plus virtually nobody "custom orders" their appliance-tier cars anymore, they just pick among the row of monochrome CUVs at the dealership (with one or two red/blue ones if you're REALLY lucky).

Come again? I see half a dozen NPC gray colors and a single red and blue, just like I said. Yeah, an M3 gets the fun colors but we're not talking about those - appliance tier cars is what I said.
>>29083164
I like the green colors they offer on their SUVs, I'm noticing green slowly making a comeback which is great since it's the superior color.
95% of the ones I see are still monochrome, however. It's only the one or two "Woodland" package models I've seen that have better colors.
I personally don't count it if the only actual "color" offered is a single red or blue. We used to have dozens of colorful shades to pick from, even with luxury cars.
>>
>>29083161
Anon, red is considered a womanly color for cars
>>
>>29082916
Seems completely untrue. Women can see more colors than men and I think they'd rather buy a car in a color that can be considered cute.
>>
>>29082911
1, anything besides gray or black usually costs extra. 2, people minmaxing resale value.

Why are appliances always one of 3 colors? Why does your commuting appliance need to be some bright and flashy color? Trucks are the best selling vehicles and those should never be red, yellow or blue which doesn't leave you with much.

You don't know what you're talking about. Flat paint is non-glossy paint, satin and flat paints were not used an cars back then. If you think you're saying solid or non- metallic paint, please note the Olds in Burgandy Mist Poly. A metallic color. Also Lake Placid blue is an exclusive Eldorado only color as it doesn't show up in the regular 1958 paint chart, which means it's metallic too, although I have no proof.

Why do americans buy cars hoping to flip them, when their value cuts right in half as soon as they've had even a single owner at all? Are they stupid?

I did mean non-metallic. I do realize there are metallic paints in that picture, it's just one of the only ones I could find that made it clear that Fender used automotive paints for their guitars.

>>
>>29083879
Your guitars look good in those colors, I prefer the metallics, probably the Lake Placid Blue the most.
>>
>>29083887
That's not mine lol, but Lake Placid Blue is a fan favorite. It ages into a nice teal/green color.
>>
>>29083892
That's the old clearcoat yellowing. If you refinished one with modern paint, it wouldn't age like that. The age adds to the look of a well loved tool.
>>
>>29083899
afaik some of the paints were nitrocellulose based like the clearcoats, so they would age alongside it
not sure about lake placid blue specifically though
I'm sure they used thicker coats on cars, but it seems crazy to me that anyone thought this stuff would hold up to the elements

The advice about black and white retaining resale value is out of date.
>iSeeCars compared pricing data for over 1.2 million 3-year-old used cars to determine the impact, if any, on resale value. The results were that yellow vehicles hold the strongest value—the average vehicle loses 31 percent ($14,360) of its value after 3 years, but yellow cars only lose 24.0 percent ($13,667). In second place is orange, with the hue losing 24.4 percent of its value ($9,951), followed by green at 26.3 percent ($13,152). “Yellow and orange have been among the best colors for retained value since iSeeCars began tracking depreciation by color,” said iSeeCars Executive Analyst Karl Brauer. “These are not widely popular colors, but they have more demand than supply, and that translates to higher value on the used market.” Other above-average colors for value retention include beige, red, silver, brown, gray, and blue, says the company.
>At the bottom of the list are black, white, and gold cars. Black cars lose about 31.9 percent ($15,381), white cars lose about 31.1 percent ($15,557), while gold cars lose 34.4 percent ($16,679). Those colors aren’t ugly, as many people opt for white and black vehicles because they are easy to keep clean (white) and showcase styling (black). There’s another reason, says iSeeCars. “White and black are the two most common car colors, which suggests plenty of people want them,” said Brauer. “But it also means those colors provide zero distinction in the used market, reducing their value and making it easy for buyers to shop around for the lowest-priced model in these shades.”

The definition of "fun" has shifted.
People dont find cars fun anymore.
People dont find camping fun anymore.
Mountain bike and surfboard sales have plummeted.
Xbox is the new fun.
People dont want to go outside
Cars are not an extension of your personality anymore.
Theyre just a tool to get to your McWagie job so you can have more money to spend on steam.
