>biggest bang for buck tires in the world right now
What's stopping /o/ from slapping some linglongs onto the daily drive shitbox?
>>
>>29082943
For me, nothing. The US DOT regs stop anyone from selling something actually bad or dangerous. Tires are a mature technology. If you're not racing or seriously offroading or hauling heavy, you don't need expensive tires.
>>
>>29082943
They're good if you are hilariously poor and dont care about ride quality or grip in poor (or even ideal) conditions, or if you're someone who intends to burn up tires quickly.
For me its dsw06+

Most of their line is low rolling resistance, which utterly sucks for grip.

i've said it before, but they were the only tyres i could find that
>had 70 profile sidewalls
>were reasonably priced
>had a H speed rating
i haven't had the chance to max out the speedo yet, but i have taken it up to 100 mph. in a new car 100 feels quite fast, but in this thing where you already feel like you're going much faster than you actually are, at that speed, you truly appreciate that you are well and truly, royally fucked if something bad happens
>>
>>29082943
Because the last time I had chink tires in my car I ended up upside down after going the speed limit over some mud
>>
>>29082943
Do they come in white walls?
>>
>>29083642
Those uhhh vitour galaxies are white walls and if memory serves, they come from the same factory as linglongs
>>
Do they make tires that are good in mud and chunky gravel but are not noisy as hell on highways?
>>
>>29083659
The galaxies are raised white lettering, you can choose whether you want the letters on the inside or out. They're initially blue but can either be cleaned to be white, or just let them fade to white over time. They can go brown if you don't clean them after a while though.
>>
>>29082943
Didn't pay much attention to tires when I was younger, as long as the held air they were fine. Then I bought a set of Kumhos in the late 90's and they absolutely ruined the driving experience of that car. Noisy as hell from day 1 and harsh riding as well. Kicked them off the car in less than a year.

I learned a lesson there about tires from companies with unknown histories so these Linglongs would need to prove themselves to me first and I have no idea how they could do that so I'll be sticking with my Michelins and Continentals.
>>
>>29082943
>What's stopping /o/ from slapping some linglongs onto the daily drive shitbox?

>LingLongs and Chinese tires in general make amazing gifts for people you want to see dead.

Chinese companies also change quality levels of products to make more product. Once the product introduction is over and the tire (or other product) has been checked by the government, and reviewers have posted their positive reviews of the product, cost-cutting can then start up in order to make the bigger profits. It's a common problem with the chinese way of doing business.

Post unheard of tire brands. Mabor was an actual local mfr, funded in the 50s/60s in partnership with General tires company, but they liquidated and the factory went to Continental. No idea who's behind the name nowadays; Norauto is French parts/service retail chain.
>>
>>29084627
People here spend $5k for a lift kit for their truck then put these pieces of shit on. They're always worn badly.
>>
I've seen a lot of Sailun in my area. Crazy thing is mostly seems to be big German SUVs, these people should be able to afford proper tires.
Meanwhile grandma in her 15-year old economy hatchback has brand new Continentals or Goodyears.
>>
>>29084627
Aren't Nexen Korean?
Sava on the other hand is Slovenian and they're actually pretty decent tires for daily driving. Same middle of the road shit as Kormorans (Serbian) and Barums (Czech)
>>
>>29084789
Nexen is good, as well as Sava, both are pretty common round where I'm at. Cooper is also a well-known tyre make, not sure what any of them is doing in that pic.
>>
>>29084627
I've got some vredsteins A/Ts since they weren't too aggressive for mostly road use. Apparently they're well known among classic car drivers and well liked. I can't complain.
>>
Anyone user Kumho tires? Korean brand. Only one tire shop in my city has them and was curious, as their offerings look decent
>>
>>29084829
Very common in Europe. Considered a good, quality upper mid-range brand. In tyre tests I've often seen Kumho brought up as punching above their weight in terms of price.

>continuing the eternal 'muh china bad quality' shit
most of the shit quality stuff from china doesnt get out of the mainland (most notably third rate cities and below) or ends up in south asian/african shitholes nobody ever heard off other than shitposters on the sharty.
the issue is that a lot of stuff is just very dodgy due of incompetent fags that decided to make a factory due of the chinese economic boom and nepotism because their sugar mommies are in the CCP so they get millions in equivalent USD for their bullshit. also same issue as to why there's tofu dregs.
while xi jinping tried to tackle the issue, its still present, much less but still.
i'd actually trust shit from my country than things made in france car wise, because atleast the bad quality shit from my shithole is leftovers from incompetent retards, made in france bullshit is just genuine malevolence from the french who decided that 'hon hon hon anything sold outside of le héxagone is le dogshit!!!'.

This Geely car failed the Latin NCAP with zero stars. Latin NCAP frequently awards 0 stars to entry-level vehicles lacking essential safety features like basic airbags or electronic stability control.

What is NCAP? In the USA, the crash test ratings are administered by the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) which rates cars with 1 to 5 stars. Europe has the Euro NCAP and Latin America has the Latin NCAP which rates from 0 to 5 stars. In 2017, due to the import of cars with excessive failures, Euro NCAP added Zero Stars.

So Chinese-made cars can cause NCAP programs to change their rating programs to add Zero Stars as the new lowest possible score.

None of them, other than Mabor, and more recently Norauto, were ever been around. I knew Barum, but, afaik, never been around either.
There's plenty more than those I posted, though, even known brands that weren't at all common here, nor low segment (Falken, Toyo, etc.)
>>29084824
Vredestein, though I haven't seen them much around, if at all, recently, used to be fairly common decades ago.
>>

>Chinese-made cars can cause NCAP programs to change their rating programs
Reminds me of the SAIC-built MG3 that caused some headaches at the Euro NCAP when the driver's seat came off its mountings in the crash test.
They didn't have any rules for the seat rail failure since it's never happened in the history of Euro NCAP, so they just had to note that the driver dummy took some additional damage from its legs hitting the dashboard, with an added contribution by the driver's airbag not inflating fast enough.

this sounds like bullshit and a very basic thing to have on a crash test that everyone would of course pass because it's easy.

They would dare attempt to perform testing fakery with the official tests. They take some other manufacturer's car (such as GM), and then do such things as put their chinese model's skin on it, change over some parts that have USA patent or VIN codes on them to correspond to the chinese manufacturer.
