I drove a C8 Z06 my buddy has. I currently have a C6Z06 I've built out. Modified almost everything; cammed, full exhaust (Corsa), upgraded clutch, the works. I've had it for a while now. Fucking love it, but I can tell by how it's driving my next upgrade is going to be when I blow the tranny up like a /b/ thread at 2am. The C8, while not manual, is exactly the driving experience I want. I love the styling, I love how it feels, I love everything about it.I can write a check for about 130k if I sell my C6. Good credit, I could easily finance and afford another 120k-ish on top of that. That puts me solidly in ZR1X territory.... IF I can get one at MSRP. Big fuckin' if right now.So, here are my options:>Wait, hoping ZR1X prices drop to MSRP eventually and hope I can get one in the future>Wait 6-ish months to sell C6 and buy a Grand Sport X to get the 0-60 acceleration I'm actually going to enjoy on a daily basis>Finance about 40k and get a Z06 that will be slower than the GSX and give a flat plane scream that I think is okay but everyone else seems to cream their panties over>Buy a ZR1 because??? I honestly can't justify the ZR1 unless I got it below MSRP. Sounds worse than the Z06, is slower than the ZR1X, and still costs well over 200k. C8 Z06 is the most special corvette to exist besides the C8 ZR1All other corvettes are just reskinned camaros because they're front engined, and i'd rather own a camaro.

The problem is the C8 is AIslop garbage designed by a left hand fighting a right hand. I’d buy a Ford GT40 replica and drop a (stroked)427 tunnel port in it and a Quaife sequential transaxle and look lightyears better than a C8 of any flavour while also having the speed that any reasonable man needs. None of those gay nannies either.

But ultimatly I decided that even though the perfomace increase is substantial, to me and for my uses its not worth the additional 48 thousand dollars. Thats a whole second car. I have never regretted this decision. But, if I had some lose cash and was going to upgrade, or if I was buying today instead of 2 years ago, I think I would go with the GSX over the z06. We were all excited about the high revving z06 engine but the the GS powerplant just makes more sense to me.

It's cool what they are able to do with the hybrid powertrain but its just a faster stingray. Nothing about it feels special.

>>29091111I’ve got a Porsche turbo with 600hp and some guy with a C6 Z06 blew my fucking doors off. No clue what he had going on but it was wild. Anyway. The C7 and C8 are different than the C6 in many ways. It’s very civilized snd pleasant to drive in on long trips but you lose the practicality of the rear hatch. The Z51 Stingray is a legit great car that can do everything. It has some odd things though. The diff will lock if you touch the brake or the gas and the wheel is turned at all. So you don’t spin. The electronics are otherwise very customizable so you can set the Nannies wherever you want. The Z06 adds in the engine, which I havnt used yet. The suspension is about 10% stiffer and it had all the rest of the Z51. The Z07 adds the aero options that make it a real Porsche GT3 experience with actual downforce. ZR1: I believe without double checking they walk the suspension back to the Z51 set up believing most owners won’t track the car. Turbos. None of these cars are easy to spin unlike your C6. The diff and the Nannie’s basically will drive for you. E-Ray: AWD with the electric motor on the front axle. Amazing drive amazing power. It’s aimed for the highway but you’ll still dominate the track no issue. There’s just a little more roll vs the Z06 and a little more tire heat. I havnt driven the GS or the GSX. I can tell you the hybrid is extremely underrated. The power is instant, very smooth, extreme, and very controllable. So with that said I would get the GS-X personally as you can use it for everything. Daily in the winter, track day, road trip. It’s also going to be the fastest in everyone but a pro drivers hands. The only thing is the Z06 and ZR1 will hold value better and that’s worth considering. I also like that the Z06 is basically as close as you can get to the C8.R. Lastly C9 will prob be announced next summer and come out the year after. It will likely be the GS/X drivetrainsHope this helps.
