Also, LPG tanks must be renewed every 8 years or so, that's another maintenance area. On the other hand, LPG usage is much easier on the engine and you need much less oil changes. I guess it is perfect for taxis and commercial vehicles that spends hours on the road every day.

I see LPG conversions almost exclusively on V8s with poor fuel economy, and it just made me wonder if the juice was worth the squeeze for the people getting the work done; for the sake of £550 (or $750) a year, no, I don't see that it's worth it. Obviously this is only factoring in roughly 3,000 miles a year, but most of the converted cars I see show a fairly low annual mileage, which again begs the question of "why bother?". Obviously the people buying the cars are morons for driving something they can't afford to run, but to then spend even more money on something that not only grants fairly meagre savings, but can also potentially cause more problems depending on the quality of installation? It paints a really interesting picture of the owners of such cars.
