So I’ve been looking at Hilux/Hilux Surfs since the 1st and 2nd 4Runner market is abysmal with clapped out rock crawlers or 200k+ chassis. Am I missing something the imports are only a couple thousand more with usually the 2.4L turbo diesel option.

>>29096239the very last 2nd gen 4runner rolled off the production line over 30 years ago, what would make you think you should be swimming in low mileage gems? as far as RHD goes, around me at least they've all been snapped up by professional resellers and have an extra ~$8k added on top of the toyota tax, taking advantage of rural mail deliverers.

>>29096239They were built for a cold climates (Japan snow) and have undersized radiators and no auto transmission cooler. When they got imported to Australia they overheated a lot. The 2.4L turbo diesel tended to blow headgaskets and crack heads when this happened. Address those issues and it’s a good car. Avoid the 2.0 turbo diesel
