I have 3k to spend so I'm aware I'll have to look through some low quality listings. This will be my one and only car for a while and I'll highway drive it 40-60 mins 4 days a week. For the g35 I'll be look for the awd models. Any opinions

Bad idea. You'll be spending at least that to fix whatever is wrong with it and you'll end up spending more money on a worse car than you would just buying a decent one in the first place.
