The things worked well when new and adjustments were spot-on but once some wear got on them the cars would develop a condition where neither the shifter nor the transmission would actually get into the Park detent and some would fall back into Reverse if the engine was running. There's at least one video of some mid 70's Ford doing circles in Reverse in some small town square. It went on for hours (long enough for a news crew to get there) since it was on high idle and dangerous to approach. They had to wait for it to run out of gas. This was one of the few that got video but there were reports about this so often it got to be old news . There was a recall but it was just slap on the wrist where they didn't even have to fix them, just issue a warning decal.
