My shitbox is a 20 year old European car with 250,000km on the clockIt's actually been pretty reliable but I'm fairly sure something is going to break that will cost more than it's worth fixing pretty soon.It's got a lot of issues but nothing that makes it undrivable but unappealing to a buyer>no a/c>moderate oil leak>noisy suspension>intermittent acceleration issues>weird noises coming from inside the dash>probably a coolant leak>check engine light I haven't bothered investigatingAnd just recently it's started having more issues. Today it had trouble starting and more disconcerting noises coming from underneath.What do?>since it's only costing me about $40/month to own and I have a second car I could just keep driving it until something breaks and then scrap it>junk it now and save myself the headache>attempt to sell it for ~$700Would anyone actually want to buy this thing for more than scrap value as it is?I'm inclined to just keep driving it to save mileage on my newer, shinier shitbox (which is the main reason I've held on to it). So long as a wheel doesn't fall off on the highway I don't think there's much risk except being late for work.
