>Be me at car show with wife and kids
>Wife has a l500 Daihatsu Mira she's very proud of
>Not the most special car in the world by any means, but a rarity around here in the north east, and we're both massive weebs
>Most people love it
>Except one fucking boomer
>comes up with a sour look on his face
>tells us, point blank "that shouldn't be allowed, with the right hand drive."
>Oh, okay, uh thanks man
>"why is that allowed?"
>"what?"
>"Why is that allowed?" he repeats
>"I mean, It's just like a normal car, it still drives normally."
>"It shouldn't be allowed in my view!" at this point he is visibly shaking behind his clip-on-sunglasses
>"Well like, postmen and delivery drivers use them all the time" I say
>"They should ONLY be legal for mail carriers and the government!"
MFW fucking when what the fuck. I've never experienced this level of delusion. It was like beat for beat an antigunner argument against your local autist owning a rhodie FAL. I was utterly perplexed. What an odd hill to die on.
>MFW "People's Choice" went to a bog-standard 70s chevy
Anyway general boomer car show horror stories/greentexts thread
>>
When I say 70s chevy I don't even mean like a z28 or anything it was just a 2wd third gen c/k. Not that that's not cool, but it beat out some way nicer cars

never had anything like this happen but what the fuck is with boomers and getting angry over the smallest shit?

Was it the lead in their gas or something when they were younger?
>>
>>29102124
Leaded gas, leaded paint, leaded pipes... Not to mention vocs and carcinogens and general pollution out the ass in cars (no cats until the 70s) and industry and at home in some domestic chemicals and products. You would almost feel sorry for them. Almost. But not really.
>>
>>29102124
There's so many of them that, at every point of their lives, they've been catered to. Spoiled little brats.
>>

I rarely go to car shows with my 1987 IROC track car.
But boomers get all weirded out by the 18in wheels and DOT slicks.
It's always a weird comment on how they aren't legal.
If I try to explain the DOT stamp, but they just get confused.
Or other dudes trying to convince me to install a 1,200hp Iron block engine with a supercharger.
Trying to explain why adding 200lbs to the front of my car would be devastating to lap times.
But that's like explaining algebra to a 5yr old

I stopped going to shows

Most of the world algebra starts being taught in the 5th grade
>>
>>29102297
There's an old guy in my area, silent generation, with the only surviving example of this particular model in our country. Apparently every time he takes it anywhere he's told that he should throw in some modern v8, as if it's worth defiling a survivor for power it doesn't really need.
>>
>>29102306
lol did you even make it to the 5th grade? fucking retard
>>
>>29102124
Boomers have this delusion that they have built the entire world we know today. Merv who worked at the postage stamp factory for 40 years on a wage that could pay off the mortgage, feed 5 kids and own 2 cars with will tell you that "people these days just don't like to work that hard!!!" and that their opinion is the only correct one. They are so smart, in fact, that they will send all of their life savings to Indian men posing as horny young OF models because they messaged Merv on a Facebook group. BETTER NOT TELL BARB!!!!

I had a boomer call me “fag” under his breath as he passed by me at the grocery store aisle. Some fat, ugly, COPD 65+yo. He was old and weak, nonthreatening. It came out of nowhere, I was so taken aback I stood there stunned for a good second. I confronted him and said something like “that’s not something you say to strangers in public bro.” He was visibly miserable and close to death. He hobbled off with a nasty look on his face. Reminded me of a dying animal hoping a predator would finally put it out of its misery. If I was a nigger he would’ve been impulsively stabbed 100%. People are crazy these days.

Depends on the mods. I've yet to actually hear of anyone getting pulled over or into shit over it except for the people that put gaudy and attention grabbing custom crap all over the exterior, which by that point you got pulled over for making your car look like boiracer shit rather than the under the hood mods being the issue.

I remember how in one car show about 15 years ago some little kid walked up to me and said 'I want to buy your car' and offered me a single coin for it (with a shit eating grin). I just said 'deal', took his coin and put it in my pocket. After that the kid just stood there awkwardly for a few seconds and then walked away.

I've been to a few shows and heard people talk unfavourably about the cars under their breath, but I've never seen anyone be so outwardly antagonistic towards the owner themselves. My L28 powered Vanden Plas was a good litmus test, as the car almost exclusively attracts the aged and the word "Nissan" draws out their ire, yet the worst I ever got was the odd half-hearted compliment.
>>
I used to deal with older military vehicles. Think WW2 thru 1970's.
You'd always hear the dumbest fucking shit from the boomers.
Like saying the M37 was "Just a power wagon you painted green".
Yeah, they share some major driveline components, but that's it.
Or "I drove one of those in the 50's!".
Yeah, that's a late 70's CUCV. Unless you were time traveler, no, No you did not.

They also would not fucking hesitate to crawl into or on whatever was displayed and begin fucking about with it. Anything with a gun (live or dummy) became a fucking set of boomer monkey bars as some obese arthritic fuck would shed his walker and try to finger fuck a dummy M1919 on the back of a M38 Jeep.

Japanese car shows tend to have less faggots, unironically.
Car shows are pretty boring. I won't go to one unless there's a racing event attached.
>>
>>29102074
Not my story but from a local forum. Here they have a classic registration scheme that is really cheap but you can drive limited days per year by filling out a logbook. One old guy at the club would called the police when he saw young guys driving around town claiming they are driving more days than allowed and that they are not supposed to use the car for day to day tasks.

Also reminds me of some boomer going on good morning America saying that 1982 Chrysler K cars are just everyday traffic and don't deserve classic number plates.

>>29102569
Self appointed boomer experts, hey you know that engine bla bla bla bla bla. Yeah just kind of triggered about boomers thinking they know more about my car than me because were a mechanic 30 years ago.

heh, when i say i want to eventually take my barge to the track everyone understandably assumes it's the drag track, i clarify that i want to throw it around a circuit and you can see the moment when the imagery appears in their head.

>>29103581
also there was one tine a lady saw my car and said how it was her dad's car because she looked inside after i let her and she said it had some modification done near the foot high beam switch plate (it didn't)
>oh yeah really? nice, where'd he live?
i forgot her answer, but i do remember that i picked up the car from a place nowhere remotely near where she said he lived, and it still had some registration papers from the first owner which was some lady that passed away at 92 just a couple years back.

sometimes owners can also be know it all faggots, i know from experience.
>go italian car meet, find alfa spider with open hood.
>talking with the owner and tell him smth along the lines
>the engine in my 155 is related to this bialbero/twincam.
it actually is, because alfa didint have enough money for new engine, they developed the 8v twinspark basically by putting the new head on an bialbero block, along with other minor changes so sadly parts arent as interchangeable. still engines share lineage.
>he hits me with "yeah no the twinspark is based on fiats cast iron block so they cannot be related."
we did argued a bunch with him insisting 8v twinsparks dont exist and me hitting him with "i know what I have"
in the end my friend came over and i just left.

but then once when i showed my engine to my friend who is into italian cars, he did say to me that he has never seen an engine like mine.
also inb4 swap
did vin check, its factory.

This is what deeply frustrated me about the modern car scene. I definitely respect maintained period correct cars but it seems every Gas Baby just wants to LS swap the entire world.
>Muh power

Went to world of wheels in Chicago and was basically gooning over a 1980s Lads Niva. It was one of the most unique cars there in a sea of 800hp LS swaps.

Sadly, this, at an RS Owner's Club meet too so he should've known better, but I suppose I was a bit asshole-y too
>Hey where did you get the motorsport cam cover?
It's standard on the RS1600i engine, it needs to be
>Mine doesn't have it
It must have a standard CVH engine then with hydraulic lifters, the alloy cam cover is taller to accommodate the solid adjustable lifters on the RS engine, you got an adjustment tool with the car when you bought it new
>Mine is 100% standard, and it has the standard cam cover, yours is modified
M8, here's the brochure that came with the car and the guide for adjusting the lifters, look at the diagrams, the alloy cam cover is standard on these.
Does your car have a distributor too, instead of the twin ignition coils?
>Walks away muttering, unconvinced
