People are spending close to 100k on new ford expeditions.
>>
Okay? How is that a new thing? An Expedition or a Suburban was still around $100k (in today's money) 20 years ago. Spending $100k on a Ford product is insane. I see hundreds of Yukon Denali's a day which is also crazy that people are spending $100k on those timebombs.
>>
>>29103486
the interior quality is hostile
>>
>>29103486

It's not a ton less than a base model G wagon, which I find hilarious.
>>
>>29103486
>timebombs.
they're one of the car models most likely to hit 250k miles.
>>
>>29103490
The quality of a base G-Wagon really isn't different. The repair costs are also much higher
>>
>>29103501
Maybe if you do it over 5 years. Those 6.2's are nightmares. The tranny is a nightmare. Rust is a major issue. I see ~5 year old frames already covered in surface rust.

>Spending $100k on a Ford product is insane
Agreed. Though I really don't understand why anyone would buy any modern car when you can buy pic related, high end trim toyota highlanders for ~20k$. Bulletproof platform, the problems are all known so you don't buy unknowns, and if you don't like the wear and tear you can splurge and spend 20k$ on repairs and pimp my ride tier shit to make it EXACTLY how you want it to be and you'd still have 60k$ left.
>>
>People are getting suckered into spending close to 100k on new ford expeditions.
FTFY
>>
>>29103530
I wouldn't buy that either. That just looks like an earlier example of the blobover menace we're dealing with now.
>>
>>29103547
Can you give me a better alternative to a 7 seater family vehicle that is in this budget category and eats about the same or less than a Toyota Highlander Hybrid and still has a reputation for reliability and repairability?

Genuinely curious.

Tbh I'm euro so gas is the biggest cost by far. I guess the math might be different in freedomland, also that car is way to big for the category. But thanks nonetheless. I guess I'll have to buy smth bigger once we get to 5+ kids, I'll have to buy a passenger van at that point

no way a white european is producing 5 kids without a brown bull involved.

It would not be advisable to buy a diesel for my use case because i do a lot of frequent, short trips (<10 mins). So petrol only.

>>29103592
I have no reference to this. To me, it's certainly smth you could show off.
>nice shiny exterior
>leather seats
>luxury internal features
Idk tho I haven't done it, but I do show new cars to buddies when i meet them and give them a tour of it. Because I like it and I want to share because i think it's awesome. Idk, modern people with their modern preferences make less and less sense to me with each passing year.
>>
>>29103486
Spending more than $40k for any vehicle is insane
>>
>>29103482
Will never understand why non-car people will spend so much debt on cars.
If you wanna show off it's much better and financially smart to buy nice clothes or a house rather than a car.
>>
>>29104140
not true at all. your home can't be taken with you, so how can you show it off? nice clothes are great, but if you step off the bus, you're instantly seen as a joke.
>>
the irony is the vast majority of people buying all these super expensive cars know absolutely shit all about cars.

I bought an Expedition Tremor and I like it
PROs
>big
>actually somewhat decent gas millage
>nice interior
>lots of horsepower and torque
>split tailgate is actually way more useful than I want to admit
CONs
>TWO giant screens are annoying
>gauge cluster only has a tachometer in sport mode and towing (gay)
>gauges can’t be configured like my F-150 Tremor I traded in
>independent with CV axles in the rear wouldn’t have been my choice. Would have preferred a solid rear axle. To be fair not a lot of body on frame SUVs are doing it anymore (Sequoia I think still has one)
Overall, I like it. However, I’m looking for a 2nd or 3rd gen Hilux Surf with the 3L diesel and a manual transmission.

Get used to it losers. Ecoboost Musty is $56K now.

that's retarded I use the tach to manually shift my automatic tranny all the time
I just leave the digital display in "smart" mode and there's always a tach - I will say a digital speedometer is impossible to read closely since you need exact speeds to play the "keep your speed at 9 over the limit as it changes constantly" game - would be fine with analog speedometer and tach and digital other stuff

We had a VW suv with a digital display that was similar iirc - only showed tach in sport
sorry but if you sell a gutless 4 banger with an 8 speed auto programmed for fuel economy - I'm gonna have to shift it manually anywhere that isn't flat straight roads

telluride/palisade, or a regular tahoe at like 65k if you absolutely positively need body on frame, grand wagoneer or sequoia if you hate yourself, grand Cherokee lwb if you are honest about not using the third row and want to launch your suspension at unsuspecting tailgaters on the interstate, Nissan armada if you want something nobody else will have
>>
>>29104516
>regular tahoe
my uncle has had both a tahoe and a yukon for over a decado now, and he has never had an issue with either of them, maybe its because he actually takes care of both suvs

>telluride/palisade
their reviews always have them up there amongst the best but for some reason I still don trust the reviewers, are the telluride/palisade like the tahou/yukon situation or the only reason that they are rated that high is mainly because they are way cheaper than the competition
>>
>>29104528
the gooks are unibody fwd, and still have all the same issues as other gook unibody fwd cars in that they will have a fire recall per year across their model lineup. plus the palisade 3rd row killed a baby. but they put a bunch of money and effort into stuff people care about
>>
>>29104528
>>29104530
This. The Palisade and Telluride are what the grocery getter SUVs of yesteryear were always supposed to be. Okay in the snow, third rows for when it’s your turn to drive the kids to soccer practice, mildly better on gas prices thanks to FWD instead of classic 4WD, and they have the comfort features that matter to normies more on a daily basis at like half the price of an Expedition or Suburban. If you’re a $100-$150k a year family household income in the suburbs you could do a lot worse. The issue among the American buyers is mostly just the total lack of a cool factor like you can get with a Bronco and honestly for a mild drop in reliability you can get a more capable Grand Cherokee for cheaper. Honda Passport, Land Cruiser, and Bronco still mog if you’re a single kid parent like me though.
>>
>>29104501
>so whats the alternative for the people that want an actual big ass SUV and nothing else?
a bullet to the head for having shit taste
>>
>>29104973

what a hideous desert suburbia hellscape. bet you're fat as shit.
>>
>>29104977
>You gotta put the kids somewhere, anon.
that's what a regular back seat is for. third rows are for subhuman breeders
>>
>>29105007
You don't even have a family until you have at least 4 kids. 1-2 kids is larping as parents, 3 is almost made it tier.

Real families don't even fit a 7 seater but honestly 5 kids is a pretty good number. But however many God blesses you with desu.
>>
>>29104956
alright so what are the differences between the Palisade and Telluride? or are they just the same shit with a different badge
>>
>>29105095
Telluride is a bit more “sporty” particularly the X-Line. Palisade is more “luxurious.” You can get the same options in pretty much either though. The Telluride has more cargo space. They’re pretty much the same thing it’s mostly just mild differences in looks. I personally like the way the Palisade looks more but would probably buy the Telluride if I had to pick one for myself.
>>
>>29105099
from what you are saying I might also get the Telluride, btw it sounds like a tahou/suburban-yukon situation
If I have to choose between the 3 big gmc SUVs, I would pick the yukon xl
>>
>>29105004
Poorfag is melting down lol
>>
>>29105007
t. one-pump chump whose two kids were accidents
>>
>>29105107
Same engine. Same unibody design. You’re not going to find a major difference in either so the one you prefer the look of should be the pick. I’ve heard Hyundai dealerships are easier to work with maintenance wise than Kia but never owned a Kia to verify. The pilot seats are arguably my favorite feature in the bigger SUVs and you can get them in either.
>>
>>29104505
A passenger Express is still more of a SUV than the crossovers dressed up as SUV's.
>>
>>29105095
The difference is which dealer processes your lemon law claim.
You'd have better reliability from a clapped out high mileage luxury car bought at a buy here pay here with zero service records
>>
>>29105099
Paid shill
>>
I spent $55k on the base model long boy version. got it under 30000 miles saved $20k+ off a new one.
With the 3rd row down you're basically driving an econoline.
>>
>>29103486
>How is that a new thing? An Expedition or a Suburban was still around $100k (in today's money) 20 years ago.
Try $70k in today's dollars
>1995 Chevrolet K1500 Suburban LT 4WD
>$34K

It's also important to keep in mind that EVERY OTHER cost was lower, proportionally to Incomes.
Food
Healthcare
Insurance
But most of all, Rents and Mortgages

1995
>Median Home Price (All Homes): Approximately $111,000 to $114,600
>Median Income Nationwide: $34,076 per year
>>
>>29105483
That Burb is not really comparable to a top trim Expedition. You can get a base model Expedition for around $70k which proves my point. If you use my original example of a 20 year old GMT800 which was the start of the luxury SUV craze you're still looking at almost $100k in today's money for a Yukon XL Denali.

blah blah blah boomers blah blah. It has never been easier to make a good living. There are plenty of well paying careers out there that don't require a $500k piece of paper. You also wouldn't make it a week in a 90's workplace. The median income is irrelevant. Look up the demographics back then vs now. Get rid of the people bringing that average down and the average is going to go way higher than it ever was.
