Why don't other manufacturers stop fucking up the good formulas they had on their cars? Subaru is a smaller manufacturer and lazy as fuck with R&D and they made it work
>>
>>29104602
Now if only they upped the power to 300 hp like the JDM version, gave it the center diff and rear LSD if they aren't going to make an STI, and most importantly, didn't make it buttfuck ugly, it'd be great.

>>Updates improve reliability

In 2026 ?

Unbelievable — and what do the company's shareholders say about this, given that the fact a car doesn't explode the minute the warranty expires is financially unsatisfactory to them?

After all, according to corporate financial logic, the ideal scenario would be for the customer to be FORCED to buy a brand-new car every year.

Hawkeye STi (US MYs '06-'07) were the fastest and it's been downhill since.
It's emissions, they couldn't figure it out. Also they're a really small company compared to the number of cars they produce. 38k employees. BMW has 155k, Toyota has 400k.
>>
>>29104657
The FA24 is stouter than most ej's, pretty clear at this point. As for shareholders, AWD means they are rust belt cars and they get crashed a lot by young drivers, so there is turnover.

>>29104665
>Car that has 40 more hp and costs 20,000 dollars more is a couple sec faster(on summer racetracks, because gravel roads and snow are way less common driving conditions of course)
That's mind blowing. Is that even legal?

They did see a drop in sales. Serves them right. RIP wagon

that stupid motor holds the WRX back so much. that and no rear diff. shifter feel sucks too. and the plastic cladding is fuck ugly. if these things were not so I'd probably have one
>>
>>29104704
The most recent Subaru I've driven was a 2010 but I drove Imprezas 12 years.
They used to have LSD rears. In the '00s that was common. STis had 3 LSDs.
The plastic on newer ones is fucking ugly.
They're held back by laws on displacement and emissions in various countries. They aren't big enough to make versions for every country and countries keep enacting stricter emissions and mileage requirements.
Ironically I had an STi and miata at the same time and the STi could do 30 mpg while the miata did 18. Really makes you think. 20 years later I have another miata, it still gets about 18 mpg and I'm fine with that. Subaru's emissions mattered more than mpg to governments.
>>
>>29104708
>They're held back by laws on displacement and emissions in various countries.
They are only sold in a few countries in the world, most of which don't have any displacement taxes. Even in Japan, if it had a 2 liter engine, it'd still be too big to classify as a compact car.

That's what I'm saying.

The Euro emissions really killed Subaru as a performance brand.
They sell way more than they ever have, they're doing great. But the performace oriented stuff that made them isn't legally possible anymore without added displacement.
They clearly know now that pandering to aggro car nerds doesn't put bread on the table.
>>
>>29104721
>The Euro emissions really killed Subaru as a performance brand.
Sounds to me like they should get gud, Germans also make turbo 4 cylinder AWD sports compacts, with even more power than WRX, and they meet the norms just fine
>>
>>29104602
ugly unpainted plastic
>>
So what's the word on the hatchbacks they teased for 2027/2028? Will there be a performance model? Or is there still no info on it?
>>
>>29104731
Germans have larger fleets with a lot of hybrids and EVs which brings their average fleet emissions down, so they can afford to have a few low unit models that don't meet emissions.

anon...why would you compare a base trim wrx to a type R instead of the performance trim? Would you compare a base CT4 to an M2 instead of a CT4-V Blackwing?
>>
>>29104851

I’d compare a ct4 to a 3 Series, not a 2

But I really wouldn’t because v6lets are dealbreakers just like the ugly slow tablet touchscreen bullshits and gay eps in both
>>
>>29104854
>buzzwords and catchprases
Meaningless. BMW's modern I6s sound so bad they may as well be a V6 anyway. Buzzing and farting and rasping like edgar's salvage title infiniti. The point you tried to deflect instead of acknowledging is that that it's retarded to compare the top tier of one car to the base of another when they're in the same price range if you don't do that.
>but a WRX is a mid tier impreza not a base model
And an SI is a mid tier civic. That is what I'd compare to a base WRX to, and it would be a better comparison for the WRX because a WRX stomps a civic SI. A subaru fanboy just doesn't want to compare a type R to a WRX tS because the WRX ts is a fucking joke that gets assfucked by a civic type R when historically the WRX was always way faster than a civic type R. Then honda released a turbo type r and it has been over for subaru ever since.
>>
>>29104851
>why would you compare a base trim wrx to a type R instead of the performance trim?
because the base wrx has the same drivetrain as the tS while the civic Si has 120hp less than a type r
>>
>>29104891
>Then honda released a turbo type r and it has been over for subaru ever since.

They type r civic has been faster to 60 than the WRX for over a decade.
>Then honda released a turbo type r and it has been over for subaru ever since.
Type r sales in 2023: 3,345 units
WRX sales in 2022: 18,662
WRX sales in 2024: 18,587
>WRX sales up 37% in 2026 compared to 2025 ytd after Subaru brought the prices back down
So over for Subaru...

The Camaro was selling around 40k units a year and that was considered a sales failure. They're bleeding money with these things...

Hawkeyes were also ugly as fuck. Reminder that Subaru had to revise the Tribeca, which had the same grille, a year into production because people absolutely hated it.
>>

>>
>>29105440
That grille design was such an autistic reference I don't know why they expected anyone to even notice what it was.
It's the front perspective of an aeroplane fuselage and wings.

Gm also sold 6x the vehicles that Subaru did in 2023. For the size of the manufacturer its not doing too bad.

The Camaro also is harder with emissions/fuel economy and had fewer common parts with other models than a WRX does with other models. Interior and base chassis and drivetrain was/is Impreza/Crosstrek, engine is/was shared with the Ascent/Legacy xt and Outback xt.

People listen to mumble rap too, that doesn't make it not the worst thing to ever be called "music". The WRX is a joke and only morons pay $45k for one when it gets annihilated by a fucking civic.
