>all new 3 series
>actually only the electric variant is new
>the gas ones are just refreshed on the same platform
>but we made it as ugly as possible
>buttons? you wish
Kind of amazing they blew their r/d budget on the electric version that nobody wants so the gas version that sells 10x more will languish on a now-outdated platform
they did the same thing to the mini cooper and afaik the "electric" one is actually some sort of rebadged chinese car so it doesn't sell in countries where that's banned and a review of the electric "countryman" said it was too stiff to drive

Also, I have never once wished for a non-circular steering wheel.

1. Electric will be the biggest seller in Europe and China due to Hormussy, no one cares that Edgar wants ICE (kek) when he buys it off Facebook Marketplace.
2. Holy shit that mf is ugly

Most European buyers want electric cars, your "BMW B58 Swim" Instagram group chat doesn't reflect costumer preferences, Alejandro.
You can't even fathom the mind of the sort of person that buys a new BMW in Europe. You can't just get an eternal loan for niggers like in America, and in Europe cars are actually expensive relative to salaries.
A new BMW in Europe means you are either upper middle class or you are making a huge lifestyle choice. You can't just buy it with your roofing job salary like in the States.
>>
>>29105706
sales numbers are not bearing that out
electric cars sell at 1/10 the rate of their gas counterparts
>>
>>29105708
In the market that BMW is supposed to represent, aka Northern European affluent white people, electric adoption is over 60% in Denmark, Norway, Northern Germany ex-urban core, etc.
Every white collar German Gen X is buying either this or a Porsche or similar electric. It's a status symbold for them.
ICE performance cars are for Turks and Arabs here, whether you like it or not.
Electric is the white man's choice.
I disagree with this, it's just what it is. I'm still driving an F10.
>>
>>29105713
>electric adoption is over 60% in Denmark, Norway, Northern Germany ex-urban core, etc.
that doesn't mean they are selling more than gas cars, also norway at least is weird cuz everyone is using oil profits to buy shit they can't afford

electric cars are DEEPLY undesirable, they take 10x as long to refuel, are much heavier and thus have far worse handling, there is NO environmental advantage because of the energy costs of making the battery and mining the materials used in it, all it is is quieter, I think chinese battery companies are being paid to shill here
>>
>>29105714
>I think chinese battery companies are being paid to shill here
thats an understatement
wish jannies actually took the 'no advertising' rule seriously
>>
>>29105755
I can only imagine the absurd profits Chinese companies who make and sell batteries and their constituent components must be making over electric car hype. I've never seen something so useless pushed so hard with no discussion of the drawbacks whatsoever.
>>
>>29105714
I don't know what third world shithole you live in, but go to any upper class neighborhood in Germany, the Netherlands or Denmark and you will see a 15 year old Volvo or Mercedes standing next to a new electric car.
The people who used to buy new Mercedes and Bmws now buy electric. There's no need to get upset.

It is quite interesting though since BMW in particular needs to choose whether to appeal to its core base of Turks and Hispanics (who rarely buy new) or to its old base of White professionals (who want electrics with zero resale value).
They can't follow both paths as its inefficient, if they choose A they are not selling new cars and if they choose B they lose their second hand parts and support business which is massive, and risk becoming commodified competing against Chinks.
Dark times to be a Germ automaker.

Every panel is different. Impressed they went through the effort for the same design language, normally some MBA faggot would've screeched about making them the same.

>>
>>29105767
How many Europeans do you think can afford a 50k euro car? Maybe 5%. It's not like America where any nigger can get a subprime loan with his Mcdo salary that mogs doctors in Germany.
Plus BMWs are way cheaper in America.
>>
>>29105765
the gas 3 series starts around 50k
the average new car transaction price is about 50k
this is not their most luxurious model
they are letting the interior rot and not updating the engines at all or the features in exchange for flashy electric models that few will buy and that will come at a cripplingly high price
the appetite for 6000lb 80,000+ small electric cars is minimal
>>
>>29105611
Mexico is keeping the old model for a while because it's made there and people don't like the redesign, like how they kept old versions of the Jetta and Veetle in production for long after they left other markets. IIRC, I think the new ICE version is just the old version but with new body panels and interior.
>>
>>29105706
>You can't even fathom the mind of the sort of person that buys a new BMW in Europe.

Muslims and Slavs, who are simply the Mexicans of Eurasia except the former don't work.
>>
>>29105783
yes, the ice version is just an interior refresh and a restyling, that's my point, they wasted funds on an overpriced EV few wants instead of improving their main model, the 3 series is a legend and they are doing NOTHING to bring it back

Let's buy a new miata in Denmark!
325k dkk starting price.
>150% vehicle registration tax
812k dkk now
>Emissions tax (DKK 1,115 per gramme of CO2) at 150 g/km adds 167k dkk
978,750 dkk now
---That is USD $153,000 day one to buy and register a 1.5L miata in Demnark.---

EVs pay 40% of registration, with a further USD $25,000 in discounts on top of that and pay no emissions tax. The emissions tax alone for this example was $26k - almost the price of buying a miata in the US, just for the emissions tax. A comparable EV would already have USD $50k less to pay in day-one taxes, that's a big chunk of change. So everyone buys EVs.
https://motorst.dk/en-us/individuals/vehicle-taxes/registration-tax/registration-tax-and-rates
It's government regulations.

It’s almost as if putting a tax that’s over the price of the vehicle dissuades people to buy them. Wild.

Germany is starting to use lignite coal plants again because they have stopped buying Russian natural gas kek.
>>
>>29105714
Don't forget a lot of emissions come from the brakes, and the brakes are bigger on EVs.

Oil has rarely been used to power electric grids.
They had an initiative to decommission all of their nuke planks (finished a few years ago)and switch to solar and wind. But solar only provides in the daytime and wind is intermittent so they decided to go full coal with the in-between since coal plants can increase or decrease output quickly. I think they’re figuring out energy storage or else they’re churning out solar panels because it seems their coal use is already decreasing since the switchover.

Model 3, Polestar 2 and BYD Seal have sold about 140 000 units together annually in EU for the past few years and they are turn of the decade EV sedans from less prestigeous brands. The German big three in comparison sold about 200k A4/3-series/C-series.

At the same time none of the German big three has offered a bespoke EV D-segment sedan until Mercedes and BMW dropped C-class EV and i3 in 2026. Leaving the market open to new brands just isn't something the German mind can accept: the big three need to be present in every category where money is to be made.
>>
>>29105682

Sitting inside a Model 3 made me angry. It's 100% not a real car and contemptuously cheap on the inside.
Ok how many gas sedans of a similar size sold in that same time? You are only mentioning isolated numbers, not comparisons, and we both know why.
>>
>>29106281
haha wrong u silly goose
>>
>>29105771
What the fuck are you talking about? i3 starting price is 62k in US, 330 is 52k. In EU with emission based taxation on new cars there is a couple of thousands euro difference between i3 and 320. The price parity is nearly gone and for someone looking at AWD or +250 hp, an EV is cheape in Europe.

> Ok how many gas sedans of a similar size sold in that same time?
I did mention the numbers. The big 3 D-segment ICE sedans sell combined about 200k units annually. The new brand EV sedans do about 140k. Then the VW Id7 does about 70k a year as a mass market EV sedan, outselling Passat clearly.

If you look at statistics in Europe the D segment sales split in 2025 was
> 213k EVs
> 135k ICEs
> 62k Plug in hybrids

And this was a year when the German big three had no D-segment EVs.
>>
>>29106300
You started with hallucinations of i3 being +80 000 dollars car.

I did not say that the two cars cost or are the same. i3 xdrive50 is an AWD car with 467 hp for 62k. The 320 is an RWD car with 227 hp for 52k.
>>
you really have to be a braindead motherfucker to buy a new ice car in 2026
they have endless nanny shit, worse fuel economy than a 2006 make and infinite exhaust part that will break.
Hence why everyone leases tax subsidiesed bev's now.
I havent seen it discussed on /o/ yet, but the g50 (((facelift))) killed off the Diesel Engine. That is actually a huge deal.
>>29106307
the i3 is a ~80k car right now, the lower spec models will not enter the market this year.
>>
>>29106311
i3 is around a 60k car you can order right now. Its not like neue klasse 320 orders will be delivered any sooner.
>>
>>29106307
at actual transaction prices, yes
nobody is buying a no-option base model
electric cars are a way to drive up actual transaction prices
>>
>>29106339
The poorfag i3 is stated to be same prices as the 318
Only time will tell.
>>
>>29106345
the actual out the door transaction prices for electric 3 series are likely to be 10-20k more than gas 3 series - and this is with all the tax incentives for evs

you still will not engage with how retarded it is to stuff 2k pounds of batteries in a compact SPORT sedan

Maybe Polaris would have been a better name internationally. But Polestar is a common term in Scandinavian countries. Sailors looked for it to find home, so it's a recurring thing in stories. It sounds more natural than for instance Polaris to us.

Nope, the difference in Europe which is the primary market will be less than 5k and for awd buyers the EV is cheaper. These are cars that have price lists online so it is absurd to keep lying or being misinformed online.
