Why is it so hard for modern car designers to design a car that looks like a car? It literally takes seconds to prompt AI with an existing model from the 90s, modernize a couple of lines and you have a car. Instead they burn millions of dollars making pure fucking trash that nobody wants. Can someone please explain that to me? Can we just get rid of all the regulations that state that all new cars have to be hideous garbage?

>Instead they burn millions of dollars making pure fucking trash that nobody wants.

That’s an interesting statement.

If nobody wants ugly new cars, why do "people" keep buying them instead of declaring individual boycotts?
>>
>>29105802
yeah, that's why the car lots are filling up with 3 years worth of inventory. because everyone's buying them

Safety regulations mean it is impossible to design a good looking car now. The bloated pigfat proportions including things like high belt lines mean they'll never look even if you do styling that harkens back to older cars.
>>
>>29105803
After all, new cars aren't actually better than old ones—especially with disasters under the hood like the PureTech engine—and they’re packed with unnecessary electronics, including Chinese-made tablets instead of physical buttons; plus, the middle class is shrinking and sinking deeper into debt "thanks" to the offshoring of factories to China (facilities that used to be located in North America and Europe).

Maybe that’s why?

The car on the left pleases me. It looks like something a Sith would drive in the SW prequels.
The car on the right is what my grandpa's dentist used to drive (unironically).
My dentist doesn't drive a Bimmer he drives an electric.

>>29105808
i'd sooner drive the car on the right because that's what a car looks like. i don't even know what the fuck is that thing on the left. it looks like something a chinese factory spewed out. even the headlights are slanted like their little eyes

What a retarded question. It's dictated by all the safety bullshit and it's what the consumer cattle want. Your autistic screeching about cars looking like shit is irrelevant to automakers.

>>
>>29105804
That's bullshit, if Mazda can still build the Miata, other manufacturers can build cars with lower waistlines. They just don't want to because then it's harder to reuse their CUV platforms and fit massive fuck ugly grilles for the badgefags.

>why do people keep buying shit if shit is actual shit

When you have 30 people all of which are very hungry (to go to work) and you find yourselves in a massive field fill with all sorts of numerous options of fruit to eat (the automotive industry post 2014) but every single fruit is filled with a slow acting poison (financial ruin, debt slavery, obfuscated extortion essentially) then it's no suprise that all 30 of those people who ate a belly full of ripe looking fruit would still partake in consuming the poisonous fruit. They did not know better and will not know better until it's too late. The damage was already done. The only correct choice is not choosing to begin with.

>Looks can be deceiving and popularity does not equate to quality or mean that the popular thing is better. Afterall, lead paint was extremely popular despite being a net negative with no positive aspects aside from a deeper color on a wall.
>New cars are Ultimately anti-consumer by design (which is you by the way, you're the consumer so you should care about this)
>Cars made before 2014 are built to higher standards, with better materials, longer quality control testing, and objectively better for long term ownership
>>
>>29105801
It's amazing how you can tell it's AI slop from the thumbnail without even seeing the filename or full size.
>prompt AI with an existing model from the 90s, modernize a couple of lines and you have a car.
That looks nothing like a Mark VII beyond the badge. Why did you give it a Grand National blackout? Why does it have 80's Audi fender flares? Why still sealed beams and a giant 5mph bumper? That's the opposite of modernizing any lines.

>The bloated pigfat proportions including things like high belt lines mean they'll never look even if you do styling that

challenger disproves this by being modern, within safety regs while having a traditional front end
>>
>>29106129
also why the fuck does it have sealed beams when literally the whole quirk of the mark vii was that it was the first domestic car to NOT have sealed beams
>>
>>29105801
they actively hate cars
same with video game “developers”
they hate their product and they hate their customers
>>
>>29106039
mazda has to have gay eps, gay adas, a breathlyzer, backup cameras, safe hood line for pedestrians (means shit looks and shit visibility), 20 airbags etc like any other car
>>
>>29106114
It's amazing that you think this is a logical argument.

You took a post saying "cars are ugly" to "people don't buy ugly cars" and then said that nonsense. No, retard, you have refuted nothing. If people care about looks, they literally just do not buy ugly cars.
>>
>>29106131
That isn't a traditional front end. A traditional front end would lower the grill and lights about five inches.

What you're posting is actually the epitome of nu-age frontends. The hood of the car is regulated to be so far off the ground and unironically 60% of that frontend is bumper.
>>
>>29105838
Actually it's called regulatory capture and the big conglomerate manufacturers pushed for it with their lobbies because it squeezes out whatever competition they aren't actively buying up. They have the money for lawyers, engineering teams etc;
You will never see a small startup again like we did in the golden age of British roadsters.
>>
>>29106800
They don't have a choice, the average NPC knows nothing about cars and chooses from what the dealerships have. They would love something good looking, but that's not being made anymore.
>>
>>29106808
shut up retard
the original challenger and the 3rd gen derives its styling from the 1968 charger turbine car concept drawing. the big wide grille is intended to evoke a jet air intake because it was in fact intended to be one.

Shameful and disgusting.
>>
>>29105804
belt lines and crumple zones are one thing, but no safety regulations are demanding giant fake grills or razor thin headlights.
>>
>>29106987
u think so anon? looks like an ai Lincolnized, more squared, widebody thunderbird
>>
Why do we still have to answer this question every fucking year for people. Safety regulations and EPA kickbacks.

Because cars are not made by car people or for car people anymore.
Made by people who view making cars as a job they hate and only do it for money.
For normies who view cars as a burden but are willing to take out huge loans forever.
Top it all off with the huge amount of regulations and you're left with a shit sunday.
