On a scale of 1-10, how hard are the following maintenance/repairs?
>engine air filter
>brake fluids
>CVT fluids
>brake pads
I have zero tools btw.
>>
It depends on the car and if it has some funky proprietary designs.
But in general:

You can do the air filter without tools usually.

10 - some air filters are bolted or screwed down
10 - you need a few wrenches and sockets to reach and then bleed the brakes
10 - the drain plug will require a socket, wrench, or hex/torx bit
10 - you need a few wrenches and sockets to reach and replace your pads.

If you had tools, then >>29106179 would be pretty accurate.

All because, everything is electrical connected to a damn computer.
>Replace air filter? oh sorry that's not the OEM filter WE want YOU to use.
>engine runs like dogshit.
>Need to redo the brakes? Sorry, we've made it where the brake release has a computer controlled electrolock that won't let you rotate the wheels without a dealership scan computer to unlock it for you
>Brake pads? (see above)
>CVT Fluid exchange? Well by that time your CVT is nuked. Please visit your dealership for them to unlock the software restrictions for an absurd service fee
Bonus.
>Need to change the battery?
>Okay well you'll have to remove the passenger seat, tear up the upholstery just to get to the damn thing
>New battery? Well now you have to reprogram everything because it lost its stored memory and your car runs like shit while your dashboard is lit up like a christmas tree

Nu-cars suck. Don't buy the slop. Stick to anything <2015.

I'll go the extra mile and say don't buy anything after 2010.
>>
>>29106251
And you would be correct

>>29106172
I don't do peasant moneylet shit like working on my own vehicle, I just pay people to do it. So imo, they're all 1/10 in difficulty

A brake flush isn't hard (on a new vehicle with no rust) but if you fuck it up you could kill yourself and/or others.
>>
For you it’s a 10
For me it’s a 1
