How did you guys learn to drift?
>>29106731In the high school parking lot with cafeteria trays.
Gran Turismo literally taught me everything I knowSpecifically GT4, but GT3 was pretty cool too and GT5 pre-update is right up there.Unfortunately anything after GT5 update is trash.
>>29106731I moved to Japan and some cool guy let me borrow his Nissan to race the local big shot. I wrecked the car and lost the race but it was ok, he got me a custom RWD Evo to learn better for next time.
>>29106731I was just born with the ability. I've always been able to do it in anything. There is snow on the ground half the year here and there are endless gravel roads everywhere so it's easy to practice and hone your skills.
I actually drift. I'm not great, but I've been doing it almost 20 years and haven't even hit a curb.>Get your Vessel license at 13 and immediately start doing J-turns and rolling 360s in the jet-ski your parents have>Manual RWD LSD (NA8 Miata w/ a Torsen diff for me)>Start out by doing donuts in one spot>Move to wider and wider rings>Start putting down or imagining cones and try sliding around them as close to your idealized line as possible>Fuck up, a lot, and learn from it>AutoX>Start doing small drifts on corners on the street in the rain. Pick only those with no traffic, no curb, and a smooth runoff with no obstacles. Expect that you'll spin out and plan your corners accordingly.>Track days>Start doing powerslides on your commute>Git gud so you can pick a lane and slide across an intersection right into it without the rear doing a pendulum back>Start occasionally drifting riskier corners with trees or less space[This is where I am]>Increase speed, increase power, increase steering angle, increase risk
>>29106756Look how many steps the normie drifter has to go through when he doesn't grow up playing Gran Turismo
>>29106759I also grew up playing Gran Turismo and Sega GT but I didn't feel that was necessary. I also didn't mention the mech engineering, being eventual driver on my FSAE team, and working for car companies. I tried to keep it relatable to what an average joe could do.My first racing game was picrel.
>>29106756Uh bro what? Here's what I do in my IROC-Enter turnRoll on gas to 100% throttle Immediately counter steer Adjust steering and throttle to stay on lineStart Exiting turnRoll off the gas and reduce steering angle It's a shrimple as that
>>29106804NTA, yes it is that simple and I dont know why anon had to go through so many steps, but that's called a powerslide.
>>29106731drunk driving on rainy nights
Drifting is for fags who don't have the engine power to properly powerslide.
>>29106837A drift is often just a prolonged powerslide...
>>29106839Nuh uh
>>29106844Oh yeah? Well I think it is, and I think fags who use clutch kicks or handbrakes just drive differently than I do and that's fine.
>>29106837Powersliding is for scrubs too scared to enter a corner fast enough to inertia drift on turn in
