Is durability overhyped? How hard are they to wrench on coming from GM and Ford stuff? Is parts availability a concern? Kind of want a W116 or W123 to crooze around in. Maybe I've been brainwashed by door close asmr videos but I like the idea of something that will last forever in this plasticshit spyware era

Above all, engines suffer the most damage from constant starting and stopping—which is why the start-stop system is harmful to the engine.

Vehicles that covered long distances continuously—such as those driven on highways—were far more likely to reach the million-mile mark. This was especially true for trucks, which racked up the majority of their million-mile totals on highways rather than in cities.

Gordon purchased his Volvo P1800S in June 1966 from Volvoville, a dealership in Huntersville, New York. He had owned two new Chevrolet Corvair models, but was dissatisfied with their reliability. At the time, Gordon's daily commute was around 125 miles (201 km).

Like all classic cars, parts are getting harder to find and cars that aren't junk are getting expensive. Stuff you'll have particular difficulty finding is anything for the interior that breaks or wears out. Sure, they're reliable and solidly made, so is a BMW from that era. If you want a pleasure car it's a good choice but if you just want a solid daily that is reliable, practical, and lasts, a 20 year old corolla will do that job for much less money.
