Would you buy the Slate truck for $25000?0% frills, 0% tracking, 100% truck.
>>29111128They shouldn't have made it NPC grey.
>>29111128Why can't they just make more Ford Rangers from the 90's?
Probably not. I own a baby and I need a place to put it.
>>29111131Same reason the XJ with the 4.0 and the Taco with the 22R aren't being made anymore; they run too long and don't have room under the hood or behind the dash to stuff thousands of dollars of tech bloat.
>>29111131Why pay $25k for a new one when you can get a cherry old one for $7k?
>>29111128is it gas powered?
>>29111128>0% trackingaren't all 2027+ cars mandated to have attentiveness monitoring?
>>29111133that's your wife's problem
>>29111135they can still make them, we just aren't allowed to have them.
>>29111128Why the fuck would I when I can get a half ton for the same price?
>>29111133>I own a babywhat? what a weird way to phrase that.
>>29111160Do you understand it?
>>29111128No. I was very interested when they were advertising the $19k price tag, but at $25k I'll just pony up a little more and get something nice.
>>29111196No one even talks like that you third world sounding nigger.
Does it powerslide?Asking the real questions here.
>>29111207relax nigga.
>>29111207Answer the question, fatty.
They look cool but I live in an apartment and I am not waiting 30+ minutes at a station. That's a jew scheme designed to get you inside the store to buy more stuff.
>>29111227>I live in an apartmentuh yea, you're poor and can't afford a new vehicle anyway
>>29111131because you voted for lawmakers that made them impossible to build at a market price anymore
>>29111197$19k? I can sell you a truck for $25k. All I need is the first down-payment for $30k and you'll soon be able to have a truck for just $35k.
>>29111128>0% tracking
I wouldn't buy it even if it were free due to garbage range and bullshit insurance rates for EVs
>>29111128No, I'd rather have a twenty year old ford ranger with a four pot and a stick. It'll outlast that shitbox by a century.
>>29111230But my credit score is good tho
>>29111135What kind of paint is that? Is it just bedliner with none of the texturization?
>>29111128it needs 3x the ground clearance and 4wd
>>29111154Shit, jsut go over to the middle east, buy one, and VIN swap it in a non-cucked state.
>>29111207I own a 6 year old.Clearly, you've never had a child.
>>29111128It is not even worth $1 until they can get the range up to at least 6,500km between charges.
Hasn't this pos shovelware already been confirmed doa for the past few years already
>>29111128I'm not poor nor am I a tasteless mutt, so no.
>>29111128Looks neat. Could work as a second vehicle.
>>29111128Nope, I'll buy the REO instead because it's got an actual engine and proper transmission instead of being some faggy piece of EV shovelware.>>29111131Toyota is, the Hilux Champ is essentially a '90s Ranger in all dimensions and metrics except for the fact that it's not sold in the US.
>>29111131Go look up CAFE regulations. An old Ranger would have to get the better part of 100 mpg at it's old size.
>>29111128>single cab truck Nobody is going to buy this, single cab truck sales are abysmal, they’re like 5% of all truck sales, nobody wants them
>>29111128so its either faggy slate or a faggy mavrick or faggy santa cruz
>>29111653>I'll buy the REO insteadThis.
>>29111801Because people are tasteless swine
>>29111128I could consider it as a farm runabout for half that. Not for 25k though. That's barely used 3.5T flatbed money.
>>29111128No. If I were going to buy a cheap pickup I'd spend like $10k on a used ranger.
>>29111907>I'd spend like $10k on a used ranger.where can you get a used ranger for 10k lmao
I was honestly in that market but my 5 seaters can't comfortably seat 5 now because of car seats, so I will get a minivan for that and plywood
>>29111791No it wouldn't, retard, it'd just be 32. The old Ranger got 20, that shit is doable.
>>29111860REO is never happening. The guy starting it is IN real estate and is trying to build them in the middle of DFW. While every company in the world is moving to places with low prices he decided to set up shop in the 4th biggest metro
No, I already bought a hybrid awd maverick over a year ago for $29.2k
The Goyota is a castrated truck that wants to exist in a universe where the used car market does not.You can tell by the marketing and "wrap customization options" that lead designer is a woman that's never been in a truck in her life. Weighs as much as f-150 with like 1/3rd towing capacity and laughable torque. It should've been a little scrapper that punched above its weight in terms of power at the tradeoff of everything. Instead its just a neutered golf cart.
>>29111128It would be cheaper for me to get a non-running pickup and turn it into an EV.
>>29111128yes if it came without powertrain for uhhhhh $5,000
For those of you that haven't made the effort to thoroughly check them out for your self, please do and have a look at the J Leno test drive. On a personal note I think the concept is sound, many people need and want a basic vehicle that is affordable vs a tablet on wheels. Personally I would buy one if it was available for sale in Canada ,in all wheel drive model
>>29111128I will not buy anything which has a computer in it smarter than what's needed to turn my throttle input into power output.
In this geopolitical out-of control inflationary World, manufactures are so busy adding more and more technology, that constantly breaks down, have created a product that few can afford, with many options they don't want. Give people something that is Dependable that they can afford and they will buy it
>>29113531>something that is Dependable that they can affordYou are asking for too much
>>29112996I want to believe
>>29111128Bro I can't even afford 10k
>>29112486They're fucking everywhere you retard. You could hop on marketplace right now and search "ford ranger" with a max price of $10k and find like 50 of them in your area.
>>29114922i was expecting nothing but damn even in canada these things are all over the fucking place. mostly boomers who have beaten them into the ground but at least arent going "I KNOW WHAT I GOT". i hate truggs but i'll drop 1000 canadian space cash on a ranger
>>29111128i wouldnt buy a slate truck for 2500
would be cheaper to buy a ridgeline, or frontier for less money and would last longer.
>>29111128werent these supposed to be like 10k new at 25 why would i not just get any other car (lets be real, a bed that small is not a real TRUGG)
>>29115177>werent these supposed to be like 10k new No.
>>29115178then whats the point, it looks like shit, performs like shit, but costs as much as just getting a normal ev but used
>>29113531Those days are over and affordable cars are NEVER coming back. You're average Zoomer and Gen Alpha will never be able to afford a car. The future is going to be carless with only the top 1% of elites with personal vehicles. Everyone else including you and me will be sleeping in parking lots at Cotsco and Walmart, paying 3K a month for the privilege to rent space and work at these establishments, and a mandatory subscription to Ben Shapiro's podcast where he tells you that working 80 hours a week is good and if you want worker's rights or less working hours, you're a communist who should starve to death or be killed.
>>29115190> but costs as much as just getting a normal evNo.
>>29111128Best I can do is 15k.
>>29115198ive seen used Smart EVs in good condition locally for around 8k
>>29115211Not only is that substantially worse than a Slate truck, that's still a no.No, you don't get to compare a new car that you cannot buy used as an objective value proposition until it enters the used market. You just wait two years and then look at Slate trucks. You don't complain about a startup not having a backlog.Duh, the people buying it new are interested in a new car. Duh.
>>29111128Why would you think a truck made by Amazon wouldn't be tracking you?
>>29115242so it's dollar store "truck"
>>29115259>lose argument>try to change argumentNo.
>>29111128Absolutely not. The real cost of that golf cart should be under 10k. I would put it around 8k before the 2020 hyperinflation. You need to understand things are being sold at absolutely bullshit prices, kid. The only way around it is to be smart. Buy a used commercial van for 10k and you get way more range and function. Or a cab chassis, or one where you can remove whatever was put on the chassis, and add your own bed if you need an open bed. Pickups are gay as fuck, and this isn't even as useful as a modern bloated pickup.
>>29111154You can import 20+ year old Landcruiser 70s.
>>29111128How pissed is Bezos that his gay little csr company is already dead in the water because Trump cut the $7.5k EV incentive? Did he not write a big enough check to Trump? It's fucked but it seems that's how it actually works. I worked executive protection for Bezos actually, and the amount of politicians that stop by and that he meets with, it's shocking. He even has an estate in DC when he had no previous ties to the place, dude is from Seattle. Also half his security team is unarmed because there's no interstate CCW program except for ex-cops, yet a bill for national CCW reciprocity pops up right after that CEO got assassinated, which would mean private security teams for billionaires can be armed anywhere. Peculiar...
>>29111128Way to expensive for somenthing like this,20K MAX
>>29111128My Grand Caravan is paid off and still works great. I can't think of anything I'd need this for. Verification not even required.
>>29111130You know that vehicle manufacturers offer more than one paint colour, right?
>>29116597>more than one shade of grey
>>29111128Why would anyone buy a single cab truck with a 5 foot bed? A Honda Fit with the seats folded down or removed will fit the same amount of cargo as this "truck".
>>29111128Have you seen inside of it? It should cost around $15k for the basic version
I would if it's gas only and naturally aspirated. I would even go as far as accepting hybrid with no EV mode. An EV truck is retarded regardless of price.
>>29111128If it was LS swapped maybe, but it's kind of ugly so probably not
>>29116663It's all about volumes. If they can stretch the production run out for 20 years and make 2 million units without major changes, it will be half the price it is today in real terms.
>>29116691"If" being the operative word here. What do you think the odds of that are?Nissan keeps a chassis alive for 20 years and they aren't half price by any stretch.
>>29115403Batteries aint cheapgay ass goverment regulations aint cheapgay ass lawsuits aint cheapAll i am saying is there more people to blame than the manufacture
>>29111128I would.t. Italian who likes pickup trucks visually but normal pickup trucks are undriveable in cities here
>>29111428That is Paul Harrell Olive
>>29113531Lmao you really think the high prices are reflective of anything inside the cars? The prices are high because they need to be high. The car could be a turd on 4 wheels, it would still have to cost a lot.>whyBecause if a car is too cheap, the other companies will sue that company. That's why.
>>29111137Buy a generator and leave it in the bed if you are worried.
>>29111154Shouldn’t have dropped those nukes, gaijin
The Concept has merit, Build a Simple, versatile, cost effective vehicle that embraces the DIY owner. From what I have seen, the build is robust, simple and easy to replace body panels. Hopefully it is also Dependable? As far as Cost It's being built in the US which is good, but China could build it for a fraction of the price, based on labour costs. I'm a Old School Wrench, but I know that the day is coming, so embrace it or be left behind.
I'm not buying a plastic etruck loaded with inannies for $25k, no. If I could get the little SUV version for $20k, maybe. The accessories are wildly overpriced though.
>>29119002>but I know that the day is coming, so embrace it or be left behind>effectively become a chink slave or get left behindHow about neither you pathetic retard
>>29111133I own 2 kids and for that you get a Rav4 so you don't have to worry about tedious maintenance, can let it get puke and milk all over it, and won't no one will die when your wife crashes it. Then I just need a daily for myself, and slate might be good if i could stealth-charge it at work.
>>29116597No, they don't in this case.>>29119002It should be dependable, most electrics are.
>>29119270Anyone can make accessories for it.
>>29111128I would have bought one fore the originally advertised $19k, but not 25k. That's nearly a 33% price increase. I wanted one for a new shop truck, since nearly all my deliveries and pickups are within 50 miles of my shop, so a cheap EV that I can leave plugged into a charger between runs makes sense as my utility costs are tax deductible. Base price is too much now.
