Perchance, is that a whiff of brake I detect?
Missan Z wins again, if he had a Z he wouldn’t have survived
Heh, I'm not taking it to the drag strip. Who needs new brakes?
>>29118648>in typical tasteless boomer fashion he installs the ugliest rubberband tires he can find on huge wheels>well at least there's lots of room for oversized rotors and calipers>installs the tinest rotors he can finddumbfuck deserved it, it's too bad the steering wheel didn't split his cranium open
this shit happend like 5 years ago retard nobody cares anymore
>>29118849never gets old
>>29118842bigger brakes don't stop you any quicker, you need grippier tyres for that. the retard's brakes would've stopped him fine if he wasn't constantly riding them to control the engine's idle speed whenever it was running...absolute pants-on-head retardation right there
>>29118670
>>29118915Then why do sports cars have bigger brakes?
>>29118921so they can do it for longer; bigger brakes do increase heat capacity, i forgot to say that.
>>29118923Okay yeah it sounds like bigger brakes might have helped here then. But I agree with you tires matter most for stopping distance
>>29118924it would've only delayed the inevitable - that idiot was riding them the ENTIRE time in that video. If he had bigger rotors he would've just ended up crashing into someone/something else later
>>29118842>45 section >rubber band tiresLol wrenchlet
>>29118926>>29118924Iirc the brakes were installed like 15 years earlier so likely using 15 year old pads rotors and fluid so it really doesn't matter how big they are , they'd still overheat from constantly fighting against a 1000hp+ V8 wanting to cruise at 2000rpm kek
>>29118994God damn zoomers are fucking retarded.I have brake pads and fluid thats older than you and theres zero issues.
>>29119138Partially this, he'd been fine with tiny disk brakes, stock brakes or whatever, even the tiniest europoor shitbox or moped drum brakes would've eventually slowed down and stopped the car without causing an accident if he wasn't a retard and riding the brakes since he left the garage.100% completely his own fault and it was a completely avoidable accident
>>29119138Did you not get the part about him riding the brake for the entire ride?Do you do that? Do you do that with a huge engine?
>>29118915No retard. You NEED bigger brakes when pushing that kind of power in an automatic transmission because the torque converter is always creeping you forward. Having factory brakes like he had fades FAST from simple stop and go traffic, that's why they couldn't stop. Their brake fluid boiled, pads faded, and there was simply no bite at all to slow the behemoth heavy weight down. You NEED brakes when you push big power. It's NOT option by ANY stretch of the imagination and your lies are actively trying to kill someone from your blinded arrogance
>>29119162Bigger brakes would have just boiled over 5-10 minutes later.
>>29119162Their brakes faded due to him CONSTANTLY RIDING THE BRAKES SINCE THE CAR WAS TURNED ON, not due to stop and go traffic, not due to hooning, CONSTANTLY BEING ON THE BRAKES AT ALL TIMES.Doesn't matter what kind of brakes you have, once you boil the fluid due to being a retard, that's it.The issue was that his throttle was constantly open, he wasn't creeping forwards, he was ACCELERATIONG DUE TO THE THROTTLE BEING OPEN.He didn't want to install a throttle return speing because "it euined the aesthetics", instead deciding to drag the brakes constantly.
>>29119162So you’re saying that automatics with high torque are inherently dangerous? Huh, shoulda swapped in a manual.
>>29119164Only if you're too stupid to match the appropriate caliper to the load it must undergo. Match the caliper to the performance bracket =/= no issue (unless heavy track or drag strip loads back to back)>>29119171He said that as an excuse to ignore the fact he had STOCK disc brakes. I'm sure he was dragging shit, but his calipers were 100% not it chief.>>29119172Automatics are gay, but I wouldn't go that far. It's just an aspect that most people DO NOT GET and that oversight KILLS them. He should've had a manual tho because then you can at least downshift/ moneyshift as a last ditch effort to stop
>>29118648>HAHAHA FUCK EVERYONE ELSE ON THE ROAD TODAY>I FUCKED THE ENGINE IDLE, NOW I'M GONNA FUCK YOU
>>29118648These threads are my favorite. Please post more, I lost my Hold On meme folder.
>>29119184They weren't stock disk brakes, he had wilwood calipers all around. Aren't those cars with drum brakes from the factory?
>>29119195me on the right
Anyone got the special attack/kamikaze edit?
Those base Wilwood brakes use BP10 pads. Those are street pads with a very low temperature range.I've used those pads before.Basically 2 hard stops and they give up the ghost.Temp charts are a bit optimistic, I'd say 600F is about the limit.
>>29119141The first half of the dipshit zoomers post is inconsequential. It had zero affect on the cars ability to brake. Thats like saying you forgot to fill up your windshield washer fluid reservoir and then your transmission seized.Dumbfuck.
>>29119377I had never looked into this incident before. Was this really all it was? Dude cheaped out on one of the most important parts of a car?
>>29119394No, he neglected to add a throttle return spring and adjust the idle, so it was idling at like 1200+rpm with a high stall torque converter. Because of this, the boomer owner just rode the brakes the entire time to keep it from idling down the road at 40 mph. The brakes faded out completely by the time he tried to stop at that light.
>>29119393Sure, I’m on brakes and fluid from 1998, but the last part of his post was fine. Relax.
>>29119162>and your lies are actively trying to kill someone from your blinded arrogancelol cool your jets. stock brakes are capable of overpowering the factory engine on any car. on this probably not, but they absolutely would be able to do a hard stop at least once, maybe twice, with that engine, before having to cool down again. Which is more or less what it was like with those factory v8 drum brake setups anyway.
>>29119162>because the torque converter is always creeping you forward.Lol.Actually the opposite, nowrench. He had a high stall race converter (2800 rpm iirc) and at idle the car would roll backwards when in drive. The fault was 100% with a sticking carb. The dumbfuck owner was more concerned with an overly-complicated chrome linkage setup that kept binding up because he wanted "a look" to it instead of something functional. Same reason he didnt have a hand brake (he literally said it didnt go with the look of the interior).I hope he wakes up in pain every morning and and dies in a run down retirement home wearing a 3 day old diaper.
>>29119228>Aren't those cars with drum brakes from the factory?Yes.And it would have stopped fine with the stock 4 wheel drums (if the throttle wouldnt have been stuck). Those wilwood brakes are far superior to any performance factory disc options that would have come for another 2 decades after that car was made.>>29119377Doesnt mean jack fucking shit.Dude wasnt on the track. He was on surface streets in traffic. ANY and ALL brakes would have failed at some point when youre riding them trying to hold back 1300hp.The most expensive setup he could have installed would have just failed further down the road.If he wasnt riding the brakes he could have stopped with the original 4 wheel drums and organic shoes.
>>29119394Not really cheaping out.Every brake pad has a temp range.Street pads have low temp ranges to be nice to drive around town.Track pads have huge temp ranges but are horrible at low temps. It's always a trade off.Riding the brakes too long meant the pad went beyond what it was designed for.
>>29119138Yeah and you drive a 100hp shitbox that can coast properly not a 1300hp V8 with the throttle stuck open
>>29119393It's entirely relevant. After sitting 15 years the brake fluid is likely full of water. Brake fluid should be replaced every 3 years regardless of how often the car is driven.>but I have 20 year old brake fluid in my car!And mexicans drive around on bald tires that are showing wire. Doesn't mean it's a good idea.Fucking wrenchlet.
>>29118842>tasteless boomer fashion he installs the ugliest rubberband tiresboomer wheels and tires are something else.kinda baffled why they like rubberbands so much and gaudy alloys when during their time it was all wide steelies and fat tall tires.
>>29119523>Brake fluid should be replaced every 3 yearsThis is bait right? It has to be bait. Please tell me this is bait.
