I drove to the New River the day after Helene and that was really crazy. It's the same platform as the Sportage - just wider and longer. I've ridden in one as an Uber, it's much more newly updated than any other minivan and technologically more advanced. I was fantasizing telling Kia I take their cars places and sending them photos and seeing if they would make me a real shill. But I also would nag them to make the cars less shitty in various ways. I was stuck mentally thinking of the "tail of the dragon" meme on /o/ and irl and I wasn't far from that road - just no reason to take it - it doesn't go anywhere nice scenic-wise and today was a tonnn of switchbacks just hours of winding roads the smokies are definitely the windiest steepest roads in the east. Kia is ok handling them but it doesn't enjoy it and the BMW convertible folks have a much more suitable car - spotted some shiny new 440 convertibles and an old Z3 too. As well as a mystery meat dude in a noisy GT3. I hate how loud 911's are. Even the base model is annoying. I mean the Kia is kinda loud and the engine isn't smooth - but not that loud, the bmw 6 makes a much less irritating sound than either my kia or a porsche.

She'd have a Sienna if she could but they're LHD only. The Odyssey is gone. So the Carnival is basically the only option left.

I mean, it was clear from car reviews it was better, esp. in tech/adas than honda and toyota, but just being in Ubers - which are mostly Toyota and seeing how much nicer Kias are inside (though Kia EVs and subcompacts are less nice) is what sold me. I sat in a last-gen top trim Sportage maybe 6 years ago in an Uber and that's what started the seed. Even had heated rear seats - but they took that away.
