>be me>chud millionaire>buy a tesla roadster cause i love supporting my local oligarch>some peasant crashes into it cause they were looking at their phone>both of the co2 tanks pressurized to 6,000 psi explode>20 people die>1 person a city over injured by shrapnel
>>29123936chat, is this true?
It explicitly states on the website it's not road legal.
If you can't tell the whole thing was CGI/AI, there is no hope for you.
>>29123940Proof?
>>29123940How will you cope once it lands on your house?
>>29123938Well the flying version isn’t going to be road legal but the upgraded “limited numbers sold” version will have thrusters for acceleration.Imagine tampering with the battery shielding, making sure the tanks were full, dousing the interior in gasoline, and yadda yadda.
>>29123940>large event>several cellphone videos from said event from different angles>it's AIYou're an AI chatbot and you can't prove otherwise.
>>29123940People who call everything AI when it isn't are just as retarded as people who fall for AI thinking it's real.
>>29123936I rice an EUC every day which isn't written in any laws and is basically illegal. Who cares?
>>29123950Imagine falling for a magic trick in current year just because its not ai.
>>29123936>co2 tanks pressurized to 6,000 psi explodeProbably more than 6,000 psi considering the weight and size of the car and the volume of air needed to do any of that shit.
>>29124248The engineers claim 10,000 psi using nitrogen gas, at least for the launch capability https://youtu.be/22rvpUecLts
>>29123940It was a real demonstration, but the one that flew was probably an empty shell of a car with huge air tanks in the cabin. The street version will not be a full fledged car that can also fly. It will probably just have some thrusters to help with traction and acceleration. Still pretty cool IMO
>>29124012>splitting traffic on my 636 in Midland, enjoying my ride>going to go meetup with someone >dude comes flying up on his EUC, the first one I've ever seen in person>he proceeded to run the red light after sort of stopping>takes the sidewalk, flies through the grass and continues towards the tridgengl if I lived in the city I would probably buy one of those things. Looked like an absolute blast.
>>29123936Right now, all over the country, there are trucks that legally transport pressurized gas canisters on the road. These tanks are much larger and are just loosely packed in the back of a flatbed truck. For this alone there's no real reason these cars having the pressurized gas tanks built into them wouldn't be legal. Not only that, but these trucks carry tanks of highly volatile shit like oxygen and hydrogen, not just some inert gas like CO2. You'd probably just need to have a special license to operate it and have the vehicle go in for regular DOT inspections like the gas tank trucks do.
>>29124369Nigga the tank is made of carbon fiber and isn't being carried 4 feet off the ground in a 20,000lb truck. You also don't need to crash test a truck full of propane tanks because it's not a passenger vehicle.
>>29124257Nothing flew. It was suspended and drug around by a rig on rails. The blasts of air were for show as part of the illusion of rocket thruster powered flight. You have to be 18 to post here
>>29123936they designed a lightweight EV supercar and made a stripped down version of it with gas boosters to make it flyit's almost no different from a car manufacturer making a non-road legal track version of a new supercarthe normal version without the boosters is the actual car while this is a marketing stunt
>>29124369They're also covered in hazmat symbols and are subject to a whole host of regulations. They also don't use said gas as a rocket propellant.
>>29124407>>29123940holy shit the absolute state of ICEssies right now. EVchuds won
>>29124407Nah. They definitely have the technology to make it work, but only as a tech demo with a fake car. If they can steer rockets in midair they can steer a car.
>>29124465>it's almost no different from a car manufacturer making a non-road legal track version of a new supercarexpect no car maker has done that or even come close.Maybe China will do it next, I look forward to Live Leak the car :)
>>29124489>>29124492You're brown
>>29124495well yeah obviously this is far more ridiculous, but the point is that these ridiculous cars that are not road legal is not a unique idea. it is bullshit marketing though that misleads people into thinking this car is somehow inherently flightworthy, when it is just a limited edition lightweight sports car with gas thrusters.
>>29124012>and is basically illegalThat's solely because gubment schmucks can't figure out how to apply taxes to it.
>>29123936yes, and?
>>29123940nope a roadster just flew right over my house
The flying car was certainly just a carbon car shell that weights less than 500 kg with all of the pressure tanks. The rolling was made possible by air pressure too, so not even a small electric motor has to be put in. It was all a big shoe to get all of the monies and a stock rise.
>>29124606retard, no investor is going to raise tsla stock price because of a fucking halo product that will sell like a thousand car per year. It's just a passion project which is why it's delayed for so long and tesla investors don't care about it being delayed for another decade as long as model3 and y sell
>>29124606Dawg. I am one of the biggest anti-EV, anti-Tesla guys here. I like mechanical things. But that was real. And it was cool as fuckin' hell.Doesn't make me want to get an EV but it was a nice demonstration of various engineering disciplines coming together.I'm not going to lie and make shit up because I don't like the cars that come from all of it (and I don't).
>>29124659Based
>>29124613Stock went upStock is a scam Investors that make a ton of money are part of the scamYou are a sweet summer child for having trust in this market
>>29124613>retard, no investor is going to raise tsla stock price because of a fucking"Tesla shares were up nearly 5% in premarket trading on Friday morning""The stock has added +$75 billion in market cap"
>>29124659I am not saying it was not real or it was AI. I am saying this car was so modified, it has nothing to do with a car. Skirts going down to the floor, surely weight stripped down to the max. No interior visible because it is nothing in there to see, all filled with the systems for the show. That is why they hat several cars, show cars and a nice car for the two persons to drive to the stage. It is a really nice stunt, but not more than a stunt for marketing purposes. They were successful
>>29124679Its a technology demonstration and thats what it was sold as
>>29124680No it was a product demonstration. Part of a product demonstration are pre-orders. They have pre-orders.
>>29123938>It explicitly states on the website it's not road legalIt used to be illegal to be gay. Laws can be changed.
How's China react?
>>29124705How they always react, they will copy it. I assume in a month or two there will be a similar demonstration from china. It will just look a little bit shitier, like you could see it was put together in a hurry.
>>29124479You're also not supposed to have a NOS system in a street car, but there are plenty of those running around.
>>29124705>How's China react?Quantum Roadster
>>29123936Im having trouble understanding how a normal person would ever be in a situation where their car needed jump jets. I mean its very cool that a car can have this, but I just dont understand when someone would use this outside of like driving off a cliff or attempting some wacky action movie heist. Does anyone have any guesses?
>>29124968It's a joke, anon. It literally says on their website that you can't buy the flying version except by invite. The "point" of the car is the suck down fans and rear thrusters. The general public is allowed to buy that version.
>>29124968To traverse obstacles on the road. Imagine going off roading but its literally off roading. Some retard parked you in. Just jump over them.Endless use cases really.
>>29125021it's a cool concept. Reminds me the Twisted Metal 2 days for PSX. >Up, up, left, to jumpOnly problem is, you don't have much capacity
>>29125021>To traverse obstacles on the road.Just drive around them. Unless you're talking about like jumping over rivers or something. But normal people dont need to do that
>>29125031Nah it'd be more fun to float over them.
>>29123936Waiting for some Saudi prince to livestream himself getting head crush maximum'd while trying to boost jump over an intersection and flipping onto the roof.
>>29124369Why don’t the trucks fly?
>>29124968The only actually decent use of that as far as I'm concerned would be in an automated system to prevent some types of crashes and accidents. I'm talking stuff such as: you're pinned down in traffic and a semi is coming at 100mph with no brakes, it's not only going to rear end you, it's going to try nuclear fusion on your ass. AI detects it and makes the car jump to try to save you... But even that is problematic because what the fuck happens when everyone has jumping cars and they all trigger near each other. Maybe for a car that has fallen of a bridge and it tries to dampen the fall. Maybe. Now, that's not what the marketing team wants, though, it's a stunt aimed at retarded EM fans and retarded investors to raise stock value. Thinking they will let the average schmuck have Mach 5 buttons to attempt fast & furious stunts during normal driving. lmao. People can't drive for shit in 2D, only the absolute mongoloids believe they'll allow manual driving of a jumping car as if it were like any other vehicle, much less an actual flying car if they come to fruition.
this thing will win races everywhere. it can just jump right off the starting grid and fly to the finish line. i'm sure it'll get banned from everything instantly once it starts winning in entire races in seconds, but elon will probably buy all the racing championships, consolidate them into one and rename them as "race wars".
>>29123936It's entirely a publicity stunt and a way to justify elon rolling Tesla and SpaceX into one company.but actual application, I wonder if those rockets could be used before a head on collision?
>>29123936Lmao it's not even rockets? Co2 tanks? It literally sprays nothing but green house gasses? Hahahahahahaha God damn the green crowd are the dumbest subhumans to ever exist and I am not forgetting subsaharan africa.
>>29124248Yeah if it's just compressed air and the black background I would bet my life savings on that shit being on a wire. I have over 9000 hours in ksp, that shit would not work. You cannot have any meaningful thrust from compressed fucking air to lift some with twice the mass of your mother. Let alone do it for long enough to even go anywhere.
>>29124492Nigga we've been steering rockets since before nasa existed.
>>29125094>Driving around a leisurely bend>Fuck ass BMW quickly moves in to tail gate the only car on the road, me.>AI engages speed racer jump skins>Get wrapped around a tree but 20ft up.
>>29124697>It used to be illegal to be gay
>>29124251God what an ugly fucking car
>>29123936Hydrogen powered cars are legal.Transporting argon tanks for welding is legal.
>>29123936Why is it called a roadster and not a skyster? Elon dun goofed on the naming ong dead ass fr fr 67
>>29123936IIRC the US made sky lanes perpendicular to the highways in the 50s under the rationale these things would happen eventually. Problem is that it doesn't have endurance to actually stay in those lanes and would end up falling on whatever was below.
>>29124968I dunno, you ever drove to the wrong side of the street where there were some obstacles that you could walk through but the car itself needs to move half a mile to get there? Being able to just jump it past that would be great.
>>29124405> You also don't need to crash test a truck full of propane tanks because it's not a passenger vehicle. That would be extremely cool though
>>29123940It was real but no way that was an actual human sized car. The model that flew around and the one on stage were not the same.
>>29123938If it’s flying it’s not on the road.
