Saw a few in person, I think it looks better in picture. By no means it is ugly, but I think it is definitely for the unique taste. Business decision wise, I think it makes total sense for Mazda to ditch the color.

This is a high quality image anon and it’s making me want to get my windows tinted. I feel like choosing wheel color is really hard because depending on what you choose it can change where the eye is drawn to on the car. My club has all the black accents and I’m worried bronze will make it feel too “busy” or something.

R8 my t8pe job

Getting ready to cut vents in sometime this weekend hopefully.

Tuner is getting with me this afternoon

You can see the 2 RGR splitters on the right going on too.

Not pictured is the 4.30 torsen. The guy I bought it from put new poly bushings in for free, I just pushed them back out so I can put my Mazda comp rubber mounts in. I will be selling the poly mounts dirt cheap on m.net and mturbo if you guys are looking for some.

For a intake only build this will be completely pointless and your bay will turn into a mess when it starts raining. I'm guessing this will be a 120hp garage queen though. You will regret this.

Whats your guys opinion on the NC?

Been following the boomer advice of buying a car during winter time due to being cheaper (apparently people buy them in spring / summer).
Want to go for a Miata, but for some unknown reason all the NC Miatas here are roughly 1-2k$ cheaper than the NB. And NA are ridiculously overpriced.
>>
>>29125476
>He doesn't run a second set of bodywork for vents only

Sorry you're poor brown hands.

Anywho, Treasure Coast Miata is boxing my hardtop and shipping it early next week. Paint guy appointment is December 4, he will be paint matching the cut fenders, hood, hardtop and OEM bumper+Tupperware lip. Car was entirely repainted 2 years back to the OEM emerald mica. By end of year I will have an entire front end I can swap to be vented or not, all color matched. Get excited!
>>
>>29125501
NA is now meme taxed because pop up headlights. NB is NA without headlight tax and NC is the nerdy girl that everyone is realizing just needed a makeover to become a supermodel. By the NC before prices rise further. It has the most spacious cabin, has the option for a true retractable hardtop, has lots of aftermarket and you can find them in really good condition that doesn’t require you dumping a bunch of money into them after purchase to fix rotting seals and whatnot.

See the other pos about pros for the NC but to add, the ND is tiny inside. Its got electronic steering which while "good" for electronic it's not as good as the NC hydraulic steering. The NC transmission is bomb proof. It's bigger inside the cabin. You get a way bigger trunk without sacrificing storage even with the PRHT. It's a full convertible vs the targa top thing the rf has. The blind sports are slightly better on the NC I believe. If wanting to live with it daily, the NC is an absolute no brainer. The aftermarket is big, the platform is super solid being a shortened RX-8. I know the NDs have pros too but it's not a no brainer decision if you even slightly look into it. Aesthetics aside because I love how the RF looks but I also like the less angular, smiley NC2/NC3. NC1 is good too but you really want an NC2 or 3

>I drive a lowered ///M5 mostly as a weekend car, and the Coilovers feel Better than the stock suspension
That doesn't surprise me much, as coilovers are at least a complete unit designed to match both spring and shock together; the PO of my car just threw a set of 20mm Eibach lowering springs on the blown stock shocks, and it resulted in the worst ride I've ever felt, topping even some commercial vehicles from the 30's and 40's.
>>
>>29125609

Wasn’t the previous owner your brother? You should tell him he’s a ricer for doing that

The lowering springs may have even caused the blown shocks, but most sporty shocks need to be replaced every ~90k miles
>>
>>29125598
I spent nearly a month driving an ND and here were my takeaways that ended up with getting an NC instead

>incredibly small cabin. I mean claustrophobic.
>no head room and I’m not even tall
>steering was good but didn’t have the feedback you get from mechanical
>RF with top down was a bad experience. Too much buffering and blind spots
>infotainment glitched out regularly (2025 model year)

I was most disappointed by the top down experience because it didn’t feel like a convertible at all and it was downright unpleasant once you were at or above 50mph. The cabin is so small that it would be downright uncomfortable to have two people in the car. I looked to see what kind of aftermarket solutions there might be for infotainment systems that could be installed into an older ND2 and there basically are none in existence. The NC solved literally every problem I had with the ND. Steering is mechanical and gives better feedback, cabin is comfortable for two people, PRHT gives me hardtop and true convertible experience, huge aftermarket for infotainment systems that can be installed, cheaper parts and larger aftermarket support for customization, engine and especially transmission that’s not engineered to run within an inch of its life like the ND. Oh and the NC is half the price. Easy decision for me.

Well, previous owner that *wasn't* family. My brother didn't even service the car, let alone replace the springs... so arguably still a twat I suppose, but for a different reason.

>most sporty shocks need to be replaced every ~90k miles
I did nearly buy some KW coilovers, but just never followed through. I suppose the 19" wheels didn't help either, but they were worth the pain. Either way, that's a problem for the shitskin that bought it off me.

We get 80" of rainfall each year here, and there's a few waterfalls that dump directly onto the road. Ideally I'd prefer to avoid having to get a hard top, but don't know if that's actually realistic.
>>
>>29126002
Your phone is unironically probably better than most of those these days. My camera was bought used for $400 for the body and I spent another $400 on a beat up but functional Hugh end lense that normally sold for $1000. That’s literally what it takes to beat my iPhone and even then I need other lenses unless I want to take wide shots. Unless you’re getting paid, dedicated cameras are not price justifiable anymore.
>>
>>29126026
Yeah I just got done doing some quick research and what you described seems to be the case.

I have an S23U that does an okay job but the oleophobic coating wore off on the lenses so I have been having to wipe them every time before use. If I don't it looks like I smeared Vaseline on the lens or lights have that flared look to them. Really sucks
>>
>>29126031
Not Miata related but this is the kind of quality I get from my “real” camera. Is quality higher? For sure but I have to carry a whole bag for it it with extra batteries and accessories then have to load them into my OC and edit them in Lightroom. It’s a big pain in the ass so I almost never do it.

Unless the seals are fucked, you should have no problems with a soft top regardless of rainfall. Only times I've had evidence of water in the cabin is when I've been using a pressure washer and blasted water at odd angles under the roof's edge, which rainfall just doesn't do.

For me no, a fake back window shows you are willing to lie cheat and steal in order to manipulate people's perceptions. I couldn't do business or spend any kind of money with someone who admires these underhanded styling elements. Also the front end is all angry looking, never has a Miata looked angry and it shows they are targeting a different kind of buyer, a buyer most whites don't want to be associated with.

Made some good progress last night. It's really shaping up. I took a pic but I'm going to wait until I'm done with it in a day or two to post another. Doing each hose, wire, and loom by hand including all the dirt that hides in the little crevasses. Gonna pull out the intake pre-throttle body and clean everything underneath all that, too.
For a car made in Hiroshima in April '98, I'm sure not finding any rust. Things that looked like rust, were just dirt.I did find corrosion where brake fluid had spilled under the brake booster and master cylinder.
The oil spill on the valve cover from prev owner neglecting the PCV valve is even wiping off.
Might remove the windshield washer tank and maaaybe I'll polish the heatshield to chrome but that takes an hour or two of polishing by hand.
>>
Fucking cock sucking motherfuckers, never ever buy anything from DanST.

Seriously how do you bench sync something, only to be way off?? Then I go to sync them myself and can't get the idle down enough. Turns out the front two throttles bind when not linked with the rear throttles. Oh the throttle plates must be slightly off then? Sure! Except the dump fucks put the screws in packeards with the head facing the engine! ITS LIKE YOU WANT TO INJECT SCREWS, THIS IS EXACTLY WHY SCREW HEAD FACE TOWARDS THE FILTER. Now I have to take the ENTIRE FUCKING THING APART AND PULL THE ENTIRE FUCKING ITBS OFF AND TEAR EVERYTHING DOWN AGAIN.

Seriously the UK either needs to be bred out or sunk.
>>
>>29126650
>THIS IS EXACTLY WHY SCREW HEAD FACE TOWARDS THE FILTER.
You have a secondary filter right before the valves huh
>>
>>29126651
Can tell if trolling or dumb.

Any throttle plate that is in a carburetor or ITB has the screw heads facing away from the engine to limit the engine injesting the screw. This is carb rebuild 101.

To top it off, it isn't even a split screw, probably just a self centering. If there is no threadlocker on there then it was a disaster waiting to happen.
>>
>>29126655
>Any throttle plate that is in a carburetor or ITB has the screw heads facing away from the engine to limit the engine injesting the screw. This is carb rebuild 101.
Let's suppose you put the screws in the other way, what keeps them from vibrating loose and getting sucked into the intake, is it your secondary air filter buried in the head?

>>
>>29126776
Don't make the same mistake I did and make it as tight as possible, you want a smidge of slack to stop the throttle being sensitive as fuck. Can't remember what the factory manual calls for, but it's more than you might think.
>>
File: onemm.jpg (42 KB, 516x387)
42 KB JPG
>>29126798
I've done it before on my last one. You want like a millimeter of slack.
I adjust it until it starts raising the idle then I back off just a bit so there's a little wiggle in there.
Did your cable snap? I don't think I've heard of that before. I hope it turned out alright for you.
>>
>>29126801
Oh, >>29126798, your throttle was sensitive as fuck.
That's kinda what I'm going for. I don't like that little dead zone. It does make the pedal incredibly sensitive, and that's a good thing. :)
>>
>>29126801
>Did your cable snap?
Nah, I basically did what you did, but that resulted in the rpm jumping every time I threatened to leave my foot near the pedal. If the slack should only be 1mm, then maybe something else was up. Either that, or I'm conflating it with another car I had... I'll have to check my Miata and find out.
>>
>>29126816
>but that resulted in the rpm jumping every time I threatened to leave my foot near the pedal.
That sounds about right. That's what I'm looking for, just maybe an ace looser than that.
The bigger thing is that with as much slack as mine has now I cannot get the throttle open 100%, which means there's power to be gained there. Exciting stuff. I've got to do a bunch of yard work this afternoon but I'll get there.
>>
>>29126831
you can also adjust the line at the pedal and sometimes you need to, if you want enough slack but enough pedal movement to get it 100% open. Need it just right so you don’t bend the stay holding the line on the intake.
>>
>>29126002
Problem is any camera, especially any small and convenient camera, that is noticably better than most phone cameras is gonna be $$. Like $600 with a lens minimum. So it's not a meaningless expense.

Hello guys
>>
On the ND has anyone figured out how to fix the eyerape white gauges and turn them like, BMW orange or thereabouts?
>>
Someone forgot to put a bend in
>>
>>29127823
You would have to disassemble the gauge cluster and unsolder the LEDs and replace them with a different color. You can’t just wave a magic wand and make a white LED change color.
>>
>>29127847
I mean you can't put like a filter behind the face of the gauges or something? Or like, has anyone made a kit to replace the LEDs? If I gotta cook up something myself I'll get a gauge cluster out of a wrecked one to experiment with.
>>
>>29126655
Unless you have a failsafe set up such that losing a screw kills the engine (immediately like one of those table saw brake devices), that screw is going in.
>>
>>29127879
That may be possible. People are usually very reluctant to mess with gauge clusters a they can be very fussy and these days have electronic shit that would basically be impossible to replace if damaged.
>>

Do you use the factory navigation system on your car?
The navigation SD card from dealership is fucking $500 to get.
I checked amazon and aliexpress for bootlegs, but couldn't find any with Japan maps. Only US and Europe.

>>
>>29127898
Just use android auto or Apple CarPlay.
>>
>>29127898
I thought you could get android auto or car play fairly easily onto that system
>>
>>29127898
It's inferior to using Google maps with Android Auto so I've only used it a few times to see that it works, so I have it as a backup in case something happens with my phone. Just get Android Auto installed if you don't already have it. Carplay doesn't work as well if bootlegged and the car didn't come with it.

I'd have to tap into the headlight switch or something to turn them on and off, and it would be an entire replacement for the OEM gauge lighting, wired up differently and not turning on and off or dimming from the original circuit.
>>
I'd really like to own a roadster but I'm a poorfag.
Can a smart do the trick? What do you guys think about this cute little car?
>>
>>29128137
Are these the ones people Hayabusa engine swap
>>
>>29128125
If you're going to that effort, you might as well just re-solder LEDs in the colour you want.
>>
>>29128140
it is, totally out of my league.
I've got my mind on the 82hp version, because I fear the brabus version (100hp) will be extensively pricey to maintain in the comming years. I intend to keep it as stock as possible.
>>
>>29128147
The LEDs will be on during the day but really dim. The OEM and the revlimit faces don't reflect very well because they are designed to only be backlit, so give end up with shitty hard to read gauges in the daytime if you do that. That's what you can't just change them that easily.
>>
>>29128137
Get a 500c abarth deadass. You can get them under $4k. Just never open or close the top while moving. The car lets you, but it gets damaged in an expensive to fix way if you actually do it above like 20mph. Ask me how I know.
>>
>>29128147
I agree with this anon.
>>
>>29128149
Isn't the Brabus just a slightly hotter version of the regular Roadster? Why would it be anymore expensive to maintain over a regular one when it's only notable difference is a pipe and an email?

if you think about it, like really think about it. Having an idle air control valve is basically, i mean fundamentally, like having teslas full self driving functionality, you literally dont have to touch the gas and the car just goes what the fuck eve

Unless there's something special going on here that I don't understand, you're excited that your car idles forward in the lowest gear? Any car that can't do that is malfunctioning.

I recently picked up an NB Miata and am having trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd. It takes me a full second or two to shift into 2nd as I feel there is a resistance/block in the shifter. If I force through it any faster, I feel a crunch.

Are my synchros toast or could it be the clutch slave cylinder?
>>
What happened to the anon that said he was getting a Miata over the weekend?

Could be that the syncros are blown out.
But: NA/NB transmissions have a shifter turret that needs to be oiled and several shift boots and iirc a bushing that needs to be replaced.
If you got it used, replace the shift boots with a kit, replace the transmission fluid, them oil up the upper turret with some manual trans oil from a turkey baster. It's really easy to take the center console out, like 5 philips screws so it's worth checking at least.

Could be the slave cylinder going, but I don't think so. I've had it fail 3x on me in miatas. No warning signs, at some random stoplight it won't go into any gear, at all, even at a stop, even with a good clutch.
>>
>>29128433
needs a clutch, they only last 25k miles before the throwout and pilot bearing take a shit, doesnt matter what brand you buy either you will never get past 25k. welcome to 2026 btw
>>
>>29128467
>needs a clutch, they only last 25k miles before the throwout and pilot bearing take a shit
Are you sure yours isn't misaligned somehow? A street clutch should last at least 60k with abuse.
>>
>>29128470
>Are you sure yours isn't misaligned somehow?
Man fuck no, it's 2026 everything is dogshit even exedy. There's nothing to center, you use that alignment tool to be able to slide the input shaft in there that's it. Every time you engage/disengage it will self center. So yea the clutch is NEVER the problem, it's always the dogshit bearings they do it in purpose btw.
>>
Tightened up that throttle cable and whew, what a difference. The throttle doesn't feel loose like an old car, it feels as it should. And yes, WOT is more WOT than it was, I got a few good redline runs in, it's quicker than I expected and a little louder.
I highly recommend checking cable tension on any cable-throttle car. The throttle pedal feels very nice now.
>>29128474
First I'm hearing of this. Skeptical.
You're not clutch kicking to initiate drifts? Power over drift is sufficient unless you have summer tires or grippier.

she doesnt even fit in the miata man i think its time to become a NC, they have the most interior room
>>
>>29128485
Not really.
I just give it the flick to weight shift then a big wallop of throttle as the suspension settles and it's sliding out.
Clutch kick, for me, is reserved for saving the car from accidental understeer. If you have good tires it's mandatory.

That's why I like miatas specifically.
At stupid low speeds you can just slide around without a care in the world. Corner after corner, in the middle of the day even.
First at the left arrow onto a multi-lane road? Mash the throttle immediately on grabbing 2nd, powersliiiiiide, and catch. What a car.

I actually already did the shifter rebuild and that helped a lot but didn’t fully resolve the problem. The original plastic bushing was cracked into 3 pieces so it feels much better now with that replaced. I originally replaced it with a brass bushing but I felt like I couldn’t move the shifter to 5th and reverse easily so I switched back to plastic.

I wasn’t able to change one of the bushings in the turret as the two pins holding it in place were stuck, I hope that’s not the missing piece here
>>
>>29128546
>I hope that’s not the missing piece here
You wish it was some easy to get to thing, now drop that tranny and replace all the hydroolics. Get ready to do it again in a year btw.
>>
>>29128546
Sounds like it could be syncros or clutch then if it's really a problem. 1 to 2 is usually the roughest shift and on older cars it can be a bitch.
Did you change the transmission fluid? It's easy. Diff fluid's even easier to change, might as well do that to (talking to myself, too).
I just got back from a nice nighttime top-down run with a few redlines and a little tire spin. :) Fuck yeah.

The brabus is much rare. Different gearbox to handle the torque, some motor part have been altered (turbo, cam etc...) exhaust is different therefore body and obviously some fittings differ. All more expensive because of rarity.

If you think about it, like really think about it, 100hp is really a lot of power idk why people say it's not enough. Imagine lining up 100 horses in front of your miat and them all pulling you, it would be fast. It is fast.

They're almost always more expensive in the US, especially once you factor in the significant import charges you'd need to pay to bring one back. Cheapest place is the UK, but they're obviously all RHD, which is part of *why* they're cheaper. You could maybe find a JDM Eunos Roadster in the UK which would then kind of justify the RHD nature, but some people just don't get along with RHD regardless.

>>29129222
White? I'm partial to bronze or black w/ silver lip if it's white, but I'm not sure if those are the right wheels for it, so... hm.

>>29129224
Initial expense, sure, but I don't see why it'd cost that much more to actually run. Maybe the weird gearbox would be a tad pricey it has if that ever fails, but cams and whatever are unlikely to go bad even if they are different, and it's still the cheap roadster econobox underneath, not an S-Class. Either way, I'd still do as >>29128502 says and save for what you actually want. No one is happy with a compromise.
>>
>>29129290
UK prices are so cheap it's depressing. NAs with 200k miles are 1/3 the price of a new ND here. Probably better off just using that money as a down payment.
>>
>>29129414
Our insurance is cheap as balls though. And their cars always have rust/corrosion issues from being on a cold rainy island.

Our cars may rust from road salt (if you drive in snow) theirs rust whether you like it or not. Rare to find an NA or NB with original sills over there.

Synchros, maybe old clutch, maybe old fluid. Change the fluid out with a good GL4 and also squirt a tube of whatever your local shifteze additive is.
My NB1 shifts 3,2,1 much better when the ambient weather is warm, when cold second is always crunchy.
