Unironically yes.
I've had less issues with all my BMWs I've ever owned combined than just one of the 3 toyotas I've owned.

Only thing dark in this household is the bread I eat.
The 4 V12 BMWs I had were the easiest to live with cars I've ever owned.

The only bigger expenses I've had with them were the lambda sensors in my E38 750i as it had 4 of them and they were like 200 bucks a pop from the marble top

I mean, Toyota acknowledged that they weren’t capable of producing a better car than the Z4 when they decided to rebadge one as their Nupra.
>>
>>29126974
>they weren’t capable of producing a better car
>auto only
>maccas on all 4
Wasn't the old one on bones with a metal engine and not a plastic one?
>>
>>29126917
You say this, but how much does your brand Toyota cost? My car is cheaper to buy, cheaper to drive, cheaper to fix and I don't need a scanner unlike you. This is doubly so for BMW.

Once upon a time I had Toyota, it was fine, but it was costly to repair when it broke. Which it did, not often, but it did and it made me dislike living with the car. This was maybe 10 years ago. If it makes you feel better, Renault and Dacia were better than Lada pre-2022, but my current reality is that Lada is best.
>>29126840
Some kind of blackass, likely.
>>
>>29126977
If the old one was better, were they no longer capable of building a vehicle as good as the old one or are the ways you judge cars you’ve never driven not actually valid?

It’s one or the other.

>"reliable"

I'm coming from GR86 and STI land, and honestly only recently found out about the 128i. I'm on the fence about moving away from the practicality of the STI, but 128i seems like a fair middle ground with a lot less engine anxiety, but would require getting an LSD and some suspension bits. Overall, significantly cheaper to run still. Let me know if I'm a retard for considering it. Thanks.

this thing is pretty cute
>>29127013
>If the old!!
bro shut the fuck up you faggot ricer, wrenchlet
>>
>>29127014
you're a retard for still posting on this board

128i isn't a bad car, just understand it'll take $5000 in parts (full rear suspension refresh, $2000 lsd, coils) to get it to the level of a stock 2017+ gt86 and a lot of used 128i owners are in the "i know what i got" state of mind where if you're paying $10-15k for one the value proposition is gone

would consider a z33 hr/z34 for $10-15k, the biggest issue with them is needing the same $5000 in parts to be "good" (helical lsd like osgiken/nismo is $1400-2000) but you're trading 15 year old bmw for 15 year old nissan (instead of oil leaks everywhere now its timing chain/galley gaskets and clutch slave cylinder).

look into nd1 mx5s and a $2000 beater
>>
>>29126965
being gay and retarded
>>
>>29127055
two car solution would be ideal of course, but currently stuck with finding the dual duty answer.

I don't know yet, might go back to the ZN platform and invest in the daily side of things, but that just sounds even more retarded.

And just trying to stay under 20k.
>>
>>29127086
"dual duty" is honestly 86/brz platform but then you have to worry about engines once you reach a certain level of abuse/skill (ie, constant track days with aero and sticky tires). z33/z34 is expensive on tires and bmws are compromise cars (heavy, softly sprung, need a lsd + m3 control arms to feel nice)

i like 2017+ 86/brz because you can do the 2.4 swap easily if the engine goes

i personally gave up and went nd1 + $2000 beater. i have something to go to work in when the miata is down or its winter + nd1 engine is $3k for a dealer longblock when/if it fails and the trans is $2k. plus i like the steering/shifter more. never liked the clutch in the 86/brz.

Of the 3 decent Toyotas of recent years only the GR Yaris has been made by them, they got Subaru and BMW to make the others.

Oh look it's the guy who's gunna tell us about how he did a burnout in an N/A supra with low oil and it blew up and then his starlet broke a camshaft or some shit right after he did a timing belt job but he definitely didn't fuck it up himself
>>
>>29127647
nah cope more retard. toyota is the reddit car end of story
>>
>>29127675
it's true
they are cheap, boring and have weeb appeal, the people that drive them usually never go over 60mph so the engines are never really tested
toyota can also bribe the various reliability testers to give good reviews, but the reddit appeal is mostly because it is the cheapest decent brand new car
same reason you'll have redditors defend dacia

Ladies and gentlemen....
I present to you; the BMW enthusiast who says Toyotas are unreliable.
<<<<
>>
>>29127705
>Toyotas keep breaking down
>Anon calls them unreliable
I don't see anything wrong with this.
>>
>>29127723
>I replaced the timing belt on my 2E and then afterwards, for no reason at all, it skipped a tooth on the belt and broke the cam (while I was doing a burnout btw)
>this is clearly Toyotas fault for making a faulty camshaft that breaks and has nothing to do with me replacing the timing belt wrong
>oh btw I replaced everything properly this time and it never had any problems since

next
>I bought the cheapest Supra on marketplace which was an absolute bucket flogged by god knows how many owners and preceded to do burnouts in it, then for no reason at all it bent a rod from all the N/A power it makes and it definitely was turbod by the previous owned until he bent a rod and spun a bearing at which point he bearing slapped it and sold it to me
>this is clearly Toyota's fault

next
>I had a corolla with the most reliably underpowered literal forklift engine known to man and it started bending pushrods one day for no reason at all
>for some completely uknowable reason I had put aftermarket pushrods into it which may have caused the issue, also the issue may have been caused by myself adjusting the valves wrong, but I didn't care to find out
>this is clearly Toyota's fault

This is the kind of retardation you have to get up to to say Toyotas are unreliable.
>>
>>29127751
