>easy mode: remove a vacuum line, spray into the line while keeping revs around 2-3k rpm until the can is empty>medium mode: remove valve cover, pour in a bath of solvent, suck out later with a vacuum>very easy mode: pay someone (white) to do it
>>29126859Catch can, preferrably from an aftermarket brand that knows what they are doing. The more fancier version is called Air-oil seperator. Also engine oil. VW504/507 standard oil significantly reduce the carbon build up, this standard is for the 0w20 to 5w30 range. Find the equalvalent if you need thicker or thinner oil. Other than that, walnut blast or chemical injection petformed by professional shops.
>>29126859I've had good luck filling intake ports with valve cleaning Solvents.Worked on a SBC and and a LS1.You have to make sure both valves are closed though.
I have a 2014 5.3 Silverado with AFM. I've used BG44K at every oil change, with an interval of 3,000 miles. I'm still on the stock engine with 175,000 miles. The 6L80 however...The torque converter grenaded and I rebuilt it in my garage. Replaced the 3-5-R drum, rebuild the TECHM, and resurfaced the pump on my bridgeport mill.Anyway, use BG44K. It's actually incredible how well it works, in conjunction with a catch can.
>>29129720something which has always bugged me is the possibility of damaging the engine when the valves are slightly leaky.Basically, if you pour the solvent to the intake and then it drips down to the cylinder, won't it cause more harm as it might wash off oil from the cylinder and in worst case, oil rings and everything else?
