Suzuki has officially taken the top spot as the UK’s most reliable car brand in the authoritative 2026 What Car? Reliability Survey. Climbing from third place the previous year, the Japanese manufacturer secured a stellar 97.8% reliability score, placing it a full 2% ahead of its nearest competitor.
The extensive annual survey collected data from over 39,300 vehicle owners across 30 brands and 225 models, measuring real-world experiences with cars up to five years old. Suzuki also stood out for maintaining the lowest overall fault rate in the survey at just 10%.

This will be based on complaints like those that make McLaren F1 the worst car in Argentina.
I wonder how many SJ owners are whining about faults to Reliability Surveys..
>>
>>29132884
There's indeed a psychology factor behind these surveys, while the fact that Suzuki doesn’t rush to adopt new tech and goes for conservative engine specs plays its part, i think the most important factor is the ease of working on them which solves the time+money=frustration formula, that's how they beat Lexus and Toyota i feel.

For example a consumable part might have the same failure rate across all brands, but if, due to complex engineering, one has to break the bank to get it fixed and needs to let his car sit at the shop for days, it will leave a bad taste in their mouth and they are more likely to trash talk it. On the other hand, if you can get it fixed fast, even for free sometimes, you are very likely to not even register it as a failure.

well, i suppose i could think about Kissy Suzuki while driving it

And now you can get the Jimny in Superior White again, as it's back in the newly re-released Heritage Edition.
>>
>>29133515
What do they mean by that
>>
>>29132867
They just keep it simple. When the car is simple there's not a lot that can go wrong.
>>
>>29132867
To most folks reliability doesn't matter as much as having a car that helps you think that you've 'made it'. Suzuki doesn't sell ego extentions, except maybe the Jimny.
>>
>>29136690
Jimny is more like a cultist car, do not get it if you want to be left alone or if you are paranoid, other Jimny drivers will wave at you, honk at you, flash, stalk you around so they can park next to you. I drive by one every day and its owner goes nuts when he sees me, waving like a kid with the biggest smile on his face.

There are twice as many Toyotas that are rebadged Suzukis than the other way around.

Yes against all Jewish opposition this is exactly what's happening. They are actually updating electronics and hardware where it counts as well so it's literally a win win.

???
>>
>>29137986
It drives fine, just upgrade to some decent 215 tires and chill at 55mph, above that it's the high revs that get you and not the unsafeness, the stock tires are just bad for anything other than city driving, they squeal and lose traction easily.
>>
>>29138038
Besides the turd world market, they still sell some barely legal shitboxes in Europe, some of which are getting old enough to be barely legal in other ways. I think they make them in Hungary.
They're generally not very efficient, fast or pleasant to drive. About the only notable thing about their own designs is that even their cheapest cars are available with AWD.
Suppose that might interest people who live in the countryside and want a cheap thing on four wheels that can handle poorly kept roads during winter and the mud season.
>>
>>29138066
Fuck european regulations, european manufacturers sell cars with far worse emissions but get away with it because they have a few EV's in their lineup which drops the average emissions rating, it's calculated per fleet and not per car.
>>
>>29138071
Some of those EVs aren't entirely bad.
I think I'd still rather take a Suzuki than one of those German cuckmobile PHEVs that aren't worth shit after 5-10 years because the battery dies, or the engine blows its turbo, or the DCT grinds itself into metal shavings, or the HV electrics rot through because they just bolted that shit to the bottom of their old ICE platform and couldn't be assed to consider road salt.
Apparently you can save the environment by making disposable tax-optimized cars that don't last a decade.
>>
Too bad they destroyed their reputation in the US by selling rebadged Daewoo shitboxes
>>
>>29132867
the swift gives you a 1.2 liter 4pot, naturally aspirated, and port injected. and comes with a manual or cvt, your choice.
its basically a powertrain from the '00s. basically unheard of in these corrupted times.

...sadly it also has a "hybrid" system. just a tiny battery and a small motor between engine and gearbox, its basically just for better start/stop

still tho, about as basic and bulletproof as a nucar can get.
>>
>>29138340
It's a 3 pot actually
>>
>>29138340
any experience with a 2019 petrol vitara?
it seems like a reasonable neo-"suv"
>>
>>29138095
I didn't say they are bad, i was criticising the EU emissions regulations, there are cars like the Mercedes G65 that have the emissions of a coal train but they are allowed to be sold, whereas the Jimny for example that has a third of its emissions was banned because Suzuki had no EV in its fleet, even if cars like the Swift leads its segment when it comes to low emissions.

So they are falsely slandering the wrong brands or specific cars as polluting to coerce the adoption of EV's.

>Toyota without the Toyota tax
Sign me up
>>
>>29138694
a friend owns it. or, something close, it might be 1-2 years newer
anyway, he's happy with it, considering the price.
don't expect a luxury suv.
if you can spend a little more, the s-cross is basically a slightly longer, comfier vitara. same engine and all that.

drivetrain-wise, its not as promising as the suzuki. direct injection, and a turbo.
but, thankfully, at least the japs had the decency to put the turbo in front of the engine, rather than cramming it between engine and firewall as the germans do.
so, obviously, much easier to work on if you have to.

No. Previous gen initially came as either:
>NA 1.2 port injected 4 pot, 90 hp (83 post facelift)
>Turbo 1.0 DI 3 pot, 111 hp (cancelled pretry early due to EU emissions niggery)
>Turbo 1.4 DI 4 pot, 140 hp (Swift sport, 129 hp post facelift)
The NA 3 pot was only available on the smaller Zukis (Celerio, Ignis). The 1.4 from the Sport is also available on the Vitara and I'd assume S-cross.

>>29138340
The hybrid system is irrelevant, nice for tax evasion (though that loophole is probably gone in most countries by now) and extra engine braking, weighs less than the full size spare I threw in the boot anyway.
>>
>>29132867
No shit, they stopped selling the IS in the UK years ago. That was Lexus' most reliable car and thus the most reliable car in the world.
