>>29139112>ah but only kids with rich parents got brand new muscle cars in high school. if you were a poorfag enjoy your 64 Falcon gotten from Biff's Used Cars.Lol no. My dad had a 1968 Chevelle SS when he was a high school senior in 1970. The top of the line package with 375hp in 1968 was still not even $3000 at the time. But let's just use $3000 for an easy argument. Minimum Wage in 1968 was $1.60 per hour at the federal level. At 40 hours per week, for a year, that's just over $3,000. Basically you needed one year of work at minimum wage for a nearly 400hp muscle car in the late 60s. Today, a year of working a min wage (7.25 per hour) gets you barely 14 or 15 grand. There aren't even any new cars at that price that you can buy. Boomers had it way easier, they grew up in a prosperous time. Would it be easy for one to buy a top of the line muscle car in the late 60s? Not necessarily, but it was do-able. If you were a boomer who had a summer job from 14 years old onward, and you saved your money, you could easily buy a muscle car brand new when you were 16, especially if you financed it. And a lot of boomers did this. In the 1960s, muscle cars were literally designed for the 16-24 age demographic. The thinking was that if you were 25 or older you'd be married with a wife and kids and wouldn't even be interested in a fast and powerful car because it was impractical for a family. Muscle cars were literally primarily built for and marketed to teenagers and college studentsBasically, imagine if you could buy a brand new V8 Mustang or Scat Pack Charger for $15,000. That's the affordability that boomers lived with in the 1960s and 70s
>>29139390Hey Stampede, how 'bout a poem?
>>29141204This, the average house was like 15 grand and the average boomer cleared 8 grand a year, these people weren't "rich" when it came to earnings, they just grew up in the american empire before thungs went to hell.
>>29141204Yeah, now just to get the V8 in a Mustang is a $12,000 upcharge over the base ecoshit turbo
>>29139121>>29139557Basé putain. Vraiment basé.
>>29141204the majority of "muscle" cars actually had a six or small block V8 lol. boomers who bring nothing but high comp big blocks to shows are giving a misleading image of history.
>>29141316>Ford Pintos (approximately 3,173,491 units) were produced during its 10-year manufacturing run from 1971 to 1980.idk man, clearly there was a market for poorfaggot cars back then
>>29141377Thee pinto and early economy cars were made to save money in the way of fuel, trust me anon Americans still loved their fuckhuge car, but now fuel was starting to cost so ething becsuse America can't stop supporting jews who hate us even back in 1973, which meant cars had to become smaller, lighter weight and with a smaller engine, that's why jap cars suddenly started competing
>>29141378>cost so ethingCost something
>>29141204$3,000 was still at $30,000 in today's dollars.
>>29141377Detroit was not interested in poorfags, never were. I4s outside imports disappeared during the Depression era and didn't come back until the 70s.
>>29141380Its all about the buying power anon, I honestly think cars are a shit way to gage how cooked we are because modern cars you actually get a lot for your money, same with television and junk food. Thays why boomers think its the greatest time to be alive becsuse theyre slop humans and being a fat piece of crap glued to a tv is what they live for meanwhile the price of a house, something you actually need has exploded beyond belief, my grandmother only paid like 35k for her crib (219k in worthless 2026 zogbucks) meanwhile that same house is $827,000 because theyre not fucking building anymore and we have to deal with scarcity of shit that is a necessity because people wanna be greedy.
>>29141392even with the Pinto they purposely made it an unsafe piece of shit because you couldn't afford a Mark III so Ford didn't care if you died

>>29141481sounds cheap but consider Depression-era purchasing power
>General Motors's 1936 lineup ranged from the $495 Chevrolet Standard 2-door to the Cadillac V-12 convertible sedan at $7,850. Inflation-adjusted to 2025 dollars, these would be between $11,998 and $183,426.
>>29141491idk how Americans claim they were "poor" during Depression when there were cars, cameras, radios etc everywhere. in my country that stuff was only owned by government.
