Why does the fucking ford edge get paddle shifters but the sporty little hatchback Focus doesn't?
>>29140025Kys you auto only loving faggot
Thats a mustang
>>29140027they also don't get paddle shifters anymore lamo
>>29140026no u I dont wanna learn a fucking stick shift >>29140027I was going for the paddles, wasn't paying attention to the logo.
>>29140030>I dont wanna learn a fucking stick shiftThat's your dad's fault
>>29140032We live in a time where its not useful. I am the average driver. I dont care about stick shift. Get over it.
>>29140037>I dont care about stick shift. So then just forget about your fake steering wheel shifter buttons lol, just focus on driving, lane switching wrenchlet insect.
>>29140025>the sporty little hatchback FocusThe Focus still exists?
>>29140039OK TBF anon, I'm posting for a friend, I know very little about cars, I should have clarified that at the beginning and I know to car nuts such as yourselves you'd catch everything, so my bad on that. Just thought I'd throw this thread up and see the results. IF I do it again, I'll pay closer attention to this all. I'm more /co/
I was stick shift purist until a few months ago I tried out a ZF8 and I've been 100% buck broken. Next car I buy is going to have a ZF8, its fucking over for manual transmissions. Or rather, its been over since then.
>>29140042>I was stick shift purist until a few months agoLol you have never driven a manual
>>29140042i've been saying this for years at this pointthe zf8 is quite literally alien technology that btfos every other transmission on the planet
>>29140050Wrangler with the same engine, but a manual with 2 fewer gears does the same 0-60 time.Alien technology.
>>29140058They do these comparisons with complete wrenchlets who have never shifted in their life, of course a slushbox is gonna be faster.
>>29140058>jeep wrangler?????https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a43452901/2023-bmw-m2-drive>0-60>3.5 sec (ZF8)>3.9 sec (manual)https://pressroom.toyota.com/powerful-performance-striking-style-the-2024-toyota-gr-supra>3.7 sec zf8>3.9 sec manualhttps://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a15109851/2015-dodge-challenger-r-t-64l-scat-pack-tested-review>4.2 sec zf8>4.4 sec manualhttps://media.jlr.com/jaguar/en-us/news/2014/11/2016-f-type-gains-all-wheel-drive-and-manual-transmission-options>5.1 sec zf8>5.5 sec manualI could go on and on. The manual is also best case scenario shifting.
>>29140068>of course a slushbox is gonna be faster. So why does a slightly heavier Pentastar Wrangler in manual accelerate the same as or quicker than a Pentastar Chally Wally with a "great" automatic and 2 more gears? If the testers were so bad at shifting, the manual Wrangler should be even quicker, right?
>>29140071I picked the Wrangler for comparison as it's the only way to get manual with the 3.6 Pentastar like the V6 Chally meme.
>>29140058the zf8's ultrafast shifts are so much more satisfying than a manualmy shitbox v6 challenger drives like a gt3 racecar, i can get into 3rd before i'm even past 35 mphmanualtrannies could never
>>29140073the wrangy sport mt is only 100 lbs heavier than a v6 challenger.in the real world v6 challengers are faster due to less driveline mass and it is well established that car "journalists" are, much like video game journalists, liars controlled by the corporations, don't know how to drive, and never test cars fully before opining
>>29140082I'm aware.I know that a good automatic will accelerate better, especially with turbo cars. (I also don't care) I was just lightly trolling the V6 Chally Wally guy because of how he was hyping up the transmission. I happen to have a Pentastar 6spd Wrangler 2 door and already knew it posts similar 0-60s.
>>29140087the zf8 is worth hyping, it's significantly more fun
>>29140091I have given up the opportunity to buy significantly faster cars many times in my life to buy manual shitboxes. I'm not going to change unless I'm injured. I've driven new autos and use semi-auto / paddles in them if I'm alone. They are impressive technically, but I find myself driving slowly like a drone 99% of the time in autos whereas in a manual I'm almost guaranteed to wind out some gears every drive, and I've been manual only since '05 so it's no honeymoon phase thing.I'm sure it's a fine transmission, I was just doin' some bantz.
>>29140071those 2-4 tenths of a second really make a huge difference in your day to day
>>29140026No normal or sane person enjoys dailying a manual, you fat fucking retard
>>29140110imo, its the 8 speed that makes it better, not that its on paddles or any other reason. An 8 speed manual would probably be as fun.
>>29140145idiot- every other country that isnt the USA still commonly use manual transmission cars. They make more sense than spending a fortune to rebuild an AT when they go out. CVT automatics for instance left a bitter taste in people's mouth for being so boringly slow and unreliable garbage.
>>29140098I like the ability to choose.I typically drive my Challenger in manual mode and use the shifter in the center console instead of the paddles, even at low velocity I get better control over my speed in traffic or city driving with lots of sharp 90-degree corners. I switch to the paddles for spirited driving so I dont take my hands off the wheel. If im tired or feeling lazy or on a long straightline cruise it goes into automatic but I still use the paddles to downshift and engine brake when necessary.Traditional manual is fun, ive had a few, but sometimes im just not feeling it and it sucks being forced to use all 300 iq when I dont want to, especially when the consequences are heavy and expensive mechanical damage. I can beat on a ZF8 all day and it doesn't give a shit, especially with a lower temp thermostat and fresh fluid. The only thing I kinda miss are clutch kicks, but there is actually a mod for that.
>>29140145you're not wrong, given that i post here so the former is definitely out and the latter...well i'll leave that up to others to decide
