>>29140115From a performance perspective I don't know why you would get the GLI. It is FWD only, has less power, and the shifter is not as good as the WRX's. Definitely a nicer interior, and probably a slightly better daily. For me it's WRX all day though.

The FA24DIT is very tunable though. You can reliably make 300 wheel with a Cobb access port and an off the shelf tune. No supporting mods needed. If you are OK with voiding your warranty, that is very good for the price. With an intake, exhaust, and some other bolt ons, you can make 350 wheel, and you're gapping a GT mustang at that hp. Probably about $7-8k to get it to that point.

You guys have a good selection of those in Cali, other than that if you can find some gravel country road to take it out on, it'd do good out there too. If you want to do what you're explaining and don't want something American, I'd get a BMW/Supra/Z though. You can get a used M240i for only a little bit more than a new WRX if you don't mind an autobox.

I've now put almost $10k in mods into it (1.5k of which is a wear item being the ACT clutch+lightweight flywheel), dyno'd at 362whp which is about where I wanted to land anyway. But with the uneven length headers I can't hear the turbo anymore, so I'll probably upgrade that next. Fun machine, damn thing's so planted that going fast still feels slow.
