Let's say Chinese cars never enter the US. What happens to US auto brands when they can't sell any cars abroad? Does the quality get even shittier since they don't have global sales to rely on?

Quality that is shittier than the japs but better than anything european sounds good to me. the big three don't rely on exports the way europe does because the US is a huge and much wealthier auto market in itself. if the US blocked european auto sales, the european auto industry would go under. Europeans buying americans cars or not has never meant shit. the chinks matter more, and is the entire reason some US brands (like Buick) exist, but again. most US automakers make the bulk of their money in the US. european automakers make the bulk of their money outside europe because most europeans prefer to ride the bus anyway.

Almost nobody buys American cars.
The biggest exports are Canada / Mexico (makes sense) and Germany where US / Mexico-built cars of German brands are shipped back to Europe.
No one else buys American cars. The next biggest market is the UAE for large SUVs.
So, no worries, we aren't losing much market share.

the historic tariff imbalance and tax complexity between the US and client states made sure that if a company wanted to sell cars outside of North America, it spun up a separate legal entity with a local headquarters and relatively local factories to do so

somehow, three american cars take the top ten spots of the ten global best selling car models and only one european one does.

You've got the two highest selling US models (F-150 and Silverado) that primarily are sold in North America plus a Tesla. The Tesla was inflated in recent years by countries taxing ICE to oblivion and cities or localities limiting emissions, but now there are other EVs on the market and that won't last forever.
Also, hilariously the countries that taxed ICE over 100% of the cost of the car have now begun taxing EV registrations too, once they switched everyone over with the incentive of no taxes. Classic stuff.

>the same countries that used taxes to keep out american cars ended up getting fucked by them because of those same kinds of restrictive taxes
i'm so glad the euro cuck industry is reaping what it sowed and going under.

Stellantis brands are horrible abominations that have no country of origin.
