What's the highest mountain in your country/state? Do you feel jealous of places with higher mountains?Mountains in Poland are fun but the highest one (picrel) is 2499 m, which is much lower than Alps. Moreover, highest mountains in Poland are often quite crowded. This makes some Poles jealous of poeple who live near Alps.I'm 99.9% sure people who live in flat countries like Lithuania feel jelous about our mountains but I wonder if people who live in mountains like Alps or Rockies feel jealous anout Himalayas or Andes.

Mt Whitney in California is 14500 feet high. I made the retarded to decision to camp at 12000 feet to summit in the early morning. Got elevation sickness overnight and next to no sleep in 60mph wind gusts at 30f temp. Turned around after about a mile and another 1000 feet elevation gain. I felt totally fine once I descended to about 9000 feet. I'll try it again someday.

Washington is more impressive than its elevation alone would indicate, and more impressive than some peaks in the Rockies. That being said, the base-to-summit for much of the Alps is surely greater than 2499 m, so I understand your envy. Still, don't be an ingrate. I live in Northern Indiana, hundreds of miles from the nearest decent-sized HILLS, much less mountains.

dude, it's not the height that matters. i've been to iceland and nothing there is bigger than 1000 meters, and still it is one of the most beautiful places in the world. i've also been to the tatras on the polish site and let me tell you that it was fucking amazing, i crawled over a 2000m mountain top and it is def. one of the best hiking experiences i had so far. i managed to go at a time when there werent many people there, so we were mostly alone, in the middle of nowhere on the side of a mountain, really put it into perspective how small and unimportant humans are. the views were amazing, the journey was really hard at times, the polish people were super nice, the huts were huge and the weather was really good, and the whole thing was sort of dangerous, if the weather had been worse we could have been in serious danger. we went there at the end of october and were knee deep in snow on so many occassions and did not have proper gear for that sort of thing. 10/10 would recommend
